Hot Heap Redline

Check out this sweet car, a 1968 hot heap redline! Ultimately a very cool casting! Let me know what your thoughts are on this find!

Mod Quad house fire survivor

It’s interesting to see how the smoke and heat damaged the paint on this one, but left the wheels, interior, and glass intact, although the glass is smoked too. Definitely a unique version of one of my favorite castings!

Hot pink lightning strikes twice in dual factory errors!

This buy was literally a case of right place right time (eBay, 3am on a weekday). These two super clean Hot Pink Hairy Haulers each have a different factory error. The one with a base appears to have never had a front axle installed (I say this because the plastic suspension bar has the hole through it, but no remnant of any kind of axle remains, you can see right through it. Also this thing is nearly mint and I don’t think any sane person would chop an axle out of this thing, I mean, maybe a few flea bites here or there, but the rear wheels have perfect chrome, no track wear, almost no paint toning, window is perfect and scratch free, and the base is completely untarnished!). My guess is some kid in the 70s bought it by accident, but couldn’t play with it because of the missing wheels, and so it remained in mint condition.

The other one is unspun, and is in even better shape than the one with a chassis. I believe it was probably a 100% unspun, even though I don’t have the engine to prove it, but there is no evidence or drill damage or scratches where the engine post would have gone. Also, same point as before, why would someone drill such a minty car?

The cherry on top of these two white whales (or rather, hot pink whales), is that the seller had the lot of them both listed for only $40 as “beaters for parts or restore”. I like to think I might have saved them from being restored or parted out, also, I’ve never ever seen an unspun hairy hauler, much less a hot pink one. It’s also odd to me how one person just happened to have two identically pink error hairy haulers, almost as if they they were intentionally taken from the factory like that…🧐

Anyways, what do y’all think of this crazy lot?

Latest additions to the silhouette family!

Got a few little oddball silhouettes because I’ve decided to go full completist to try and get every silhouette ever made (excluding all the regular release anniversary colors, I’m only going for special editions for the modern releases). Firstly, I’ve obtained the ruby red silo from the Mattel 80th rally case, and boy is it even more beautiful in person than in pics! That ruby red overchrome just shines! Next, a gran toros silo. Because it was cheap and pretty beat up, I’m gonna restore it for display purposes, I can’t post the restoration process here because that’s not allowed, but the finished product will appear next time I make an updated Silo Rainbow post, along with a very special Silo I have coming soon. I’m gonna repaint it purple to stay true to the original, but my repaint will be much shinier than the original, as the original purple seems so dull and flat. Finally, a rose that has been stepped on. You may be thinking, “why would I buy that, I’ve already got a much nicer rose”, and to answer, I was tricked. eBay seller described it as “Hot Pink”, and the lighting in the pics made it look hot pink, but lo and behold, it is not even remotely hot pink, and the seller does not accept returns. I was thoroughly duped on that one, I’ll pay more attention next time. I’m not going to get rid of it though, as it’s still a silhouette, and any and all silos are welcome in the collection, it’ll just serve as a reminder to be more scrutinous next time :(

Mail call!

Sold my pit crew a while back and always regretted it. But this one was really nice so I said screw it. The Show Off was an accidental ebay win lol

Replacement Hoods on both of these Copper HKs, very happy with them!

No drilling required for these hood replacements, these were too nice to be sitting around with the rest of my junkers.

72 Side Kick antique store buy

Found this sweet side kick at the antique store for $60, and just had to pick it up, my first 1972 mainline. Those 72’s are tough, and even though this one isn’t perfect, the paint is still pretty decent and the base fairly shiny, so I didn’t mind paying that price. What do y’all think?

Don’t forget to check your garage!

I had completely forgotten I had this in my garage. I went out there for the first time in a while to check if I had an RLC black box Silhouette in one of my storage containers (I did in fact have one! That’s one less Silo I have to track down!). But anyways, I had this basically mint condition Masked Bandit out there that I thought I had sold years ago, but I’m so glad I didn’t! This thing is a real beauty, and it’s complete! Wheelie bar is there, track guide weight is there, original number 5 rider with perfect paint and fully intact hand and foot loops, the bike body and chassis are pretty mint, and the rip cord system still works and the wheels spin! (I removed the old rusty washers from the wheels as seen in the pics to make it run better, but I am holding onto them because even though they are junk, they are still technically part of the original bike). I disassembled it to get detailed pics of the different components, but I was very gentle and didn’t break anything.
