Finally!

Finally!

I finally got myself an Olds 442!! She isn’t perfect by any means and I’ll need to find either a repro spoiler or an OEM (if I’m that lucky) but I’m thrilled to add it to my collection! I’ve got some more to share that I’ve obtained recently so stay tuned! 😎

Grabbed these off marketplace! 2.5 hour drive round trip but worth it!

Super excited to add these and a box of black walls for a reasonable price. I'm a huge fan of the apple green What 4! All are keepers minus the strip teaser! The "hood" is in the worst shape and it's still nice and a tough color!

Snagged this sweet $5 set of deep dish wheels, and they came attached to a purple silhouette!

I’ve already got a much nicer version of this early HK purple silo, however my cleaner one has incorrect US rear wheels. Since my Antifreeze HK silo has all 4 deep dishes, I wanted to find a set of deep dishes for the rear of my purple silo so they would match. And wouldn’t you know, the set I found was attached to the exact same car I’m swapping them onto! Pretty cool, it’s like the “ultimate purist” way to source replacements, since it’s the exact same variation lol. I wasn’t specifically looking for a silo to take the deep dishes off of, but when this thing popped up for 5 bucks on eBay, I couldn’t pass it up! Deep dishes for my cleaner one has silo plus an extra HK purple! Later, when I go for the full (albeit, very small) HK bow, I could even salvage the side pipes, engine, and glass from this beater if needed, so it’s nice to have an extra parts car around so if I ever need to replace parts, they would be OEM!

Now for the tough part: getting those deep dishes off the beater without busting the notoriously fragile HK axle!

Green Nitty Gritty Kitty

Unpunched card, but a bit sun faded. Car itself is in nice shape.

Real vintage redline?

Forgive me, I have a lot of knowledge on current hw stuff but am lacking on older/vintage info. Snagged at a random yard sale for a buck. Been trying to do research on a couple redline websites and comparing it to ebay listings. I feel like it's real, but would like confirmation from others that are more knowledgeable.

So this 442 closed today for over $17k!

So this purple 442 closed today for over $17k! The seller took a deal outside of the FB DOND page for an undisclosed amount to an undisclosed buyer. Were you watching?

Dad's collection

My dad held onto his childhood collection and recently handed them down to me and my son. There's a few good ones in here from what I can find with a little research. My son loves the Mighty Maverick and Custom Camaro! What do you guys think of this collection?

Lunchtime Cord

Oddball one here, this was a product of Larry Cox at the Mattel Model Shop. They had an internal competition to use existing Mattel components, re-imagine them being used on potential new Hot Wheels lines, and see how well they race. His entry was to use Rrrumbler wheels on the back of a regular HW, he happened to choose the Classic Cord. These were obviously conceptual and crudely done, but still super cool in their own right. He has said, and I can confirm....this performs HORRIBLY on the track LOL. This was part of the RLOL era "Texas Find" that had protos and other oddball (light blue RLBB, pink Roger Dodger, etc) tjat was brought to the collector community by the late Bruce Kalapach aka iamredliner.

Estate sale find

Couldn't believe I was the first one to find these two. My second favorite redline casting.

Some Flying Colors I picked up today.

Not super rare cars but they're in decent shape and were only $10 each. Guy had some amazing cars (see last pic) but a lot are out of my price range currently.

Time to race!

I don't know about everyone else but I like the grand prix cars. It's nice to find them with good cockpit plastic and original owners who were good at putting stickers.
