Why are open-box speakers more expensive than refurbished ones?

I’m looking at a Marshall Kilburn II and noticed something...the open-box units are actually priced a little higher than the refurbished ones. Even when the refurbished listing says the condition is “excellent.”

So now I’m confused about what open-box actually means in practice.

Does it usually mean the speaker was just unboxed and returned, or could it have been used for weeks/months and still be sold as open-box?

And is there any way to tell how much an open-box speaker has actually been used?

For something like a speaker, I’m guessing you can’t really tell just by looking at it.

Trying to figure out whether paying extra for open-box is actually worth it over a good-condition refurbished unit. Would appreciate some insight from anyone who has bought either.

Thanks in advance!

Refurbished Macbook Pro M1 Pro

I recently bought a MacBook Pro M1 Pro, refurbished, from Nehru Place market. I checked for everything that was needed to be checked, basis internet. I did the Apple diagnostics after shutting it down. There were no issues in the laptop. I checked the display for dead pixels, there were no dead pixels. I checked all the ports, all of them are working. The battery works great. The laptop lasts me easily seven to eight hours on one single charge, in which I edit videos, I use it for YouTube, other stuff. The screen looks great. It's the XDR display, ProMotion display. Yes, it's a five-year-old laptop, but it really does not feel like it. I bought it for 69,000 rupees, and it feels like a great deal, honestly.

So if you can learn stuff about how to check for a good refurbished MacBook Pro, if you can check all those details, I think in current market, it's the best deal if you are looking for a macbook to get a refurbished M1 Pro or M2 Pro or even a M3 Pro laptop from Nehru Place or whatever market you have around yourself.

Question

Looking for advice on buying a refurbished 13” M4 iPad Pro—specifically between Amazon Renewed vs. eBay Refurbished.
For anyone who’s bought current-gen Apple tech through these platforms recently:
1. Amazon Renewed vs. eBay Refurbished: Which has given you better luck with cosmetic condition, battery health, and warranty claims? (I know eBay includes the 1-Year Allstate warranty, while Amazon standard only gives 90 days unless it's Renewed Premium).
2. Alternative Sellers: Are there specific trusted eBay sellers, or other reputable sites (Back Market, Best Buy Open-Box, etc.) you’d recommend instead?
3. Red Flags / Checklist: Anything specific I should inspect or test immediately upon unboxing to make sure I didn't get a dud?
Appreciate any experiences or recommendations!

Samsung S25 video quality? Settings issue or should I swap for an iPhone 15?

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a refurbished Galaxy S25 for 44k. I do a lot of content creation—especially product shots—and for still photography, this phone is absolutely amazing. The low-light performance and color grading out of both the front and back cameras are stellar for my workflow.

However, when it comes to video, it’s really letting me down. Whenever I zoom in while recording, it gets noticeably pixelated, and the front camera video quality just feels incredibly average.

Are there specific camera settings I'm missing to fix this? Any other S25 users experiencing the same thing, or am I just doing it wrong? I rely heavily on good video for my content, so I'm seriously debating whether I should just exchange it for an iPhone 15.

Refurbished Phone vs Used Phone: What's the Difference?

Refurbished Phone Myth #2

One question I've seen pop up more than once is: A refurbished phone is just a used phone?

I used to think so too.

But after buying a few myself, I realized the refurbished phone vs used phone debate isn't really about whether someone owned the phone before. It's about what happens before it reaches the next owner. A used phone is usually sold as-is by the previous owner. A refurbished phone has typically been inspected, tested, cleaned, and, if needed, repaired before it's listed again. How thorough that process is depends on the seller, which is why experiences can vary.

So, when people ask "refurbished phone vs used phone," I don't think they're interchangeable terms, even though every refurbished phone has been used before.

What do you think? Is there a real difference, or are the two terms basically the same?

Refurbished Phone Verification Process: A Quick Checklist

Buying a refurbished phone can save you money, but don’t skip the verification process. Use the return window as your safety net and check the phone properly as soon as you receive it.

* Check parts: On iPhone, go to Settings → General → About → Parts & Service History to see if any major component has been replaced.
* Check battery: Look at Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. You can also use apps such as 3uTools on a computer for additional battery information.
* Check the display: Look closely for dead pixels, dots, lines, discoloration or touch issues. Open a plain white/black image to spot problems easily.
* Test everything: Check the cameras, speakers, microphone, buttons, charging port, Face ID/Touch ID, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
* Check IMEI: Make sure the IMEI matches the phone and packaging/invoice where applicable.

Most refurbished phones come with a 15–30 day return window. Use those days to test the phone properly. If you find something you’re not comfortable with, return it without a second thought rather than hoping the issue won’t matter later.

Suggestion for second hand/ refurbished leptop .

Hello guys,

I was thinking about buying a laptop with a good configuration (16 - 24 gig ram, dedicated graphics card) from multi heavy task (Mostly coding and AI related task). I have no budget to buy a new one. If i can buy a good condition laptop with less money it would be great for me. Can anyone suggest any online stores (like eBay) or any good trusted sellers online in Europe (Germany). Also you can tell, If you bought from some place and you trusted them. It would be a great help for me. My budget is around 700 - 800 euro.

Thanks and best regards !

Got my Hands on PS5 for GTA VI 🎮

I was looking to buy a PlayStation for GTA VI, and surprisingly got a good deal on the PS5 Slim digital version.

Also the after the price change, it's even more difficult to get a good deal. Thankfully i got a good-condition refurbished version for around 50k. And the best part is you can't tell it's refurbished, it looks as good as new.

Are refurbished laptops legit?

I'm thinking of buying a refurbished laptop of yoga 7 pro/loq/legion from the lenovo site, are they trustworthy tho??

Some are saying that we can't extend the warranty further and we should only rely on the 1 year warranty which they give with purchase...

Is this true?

Are Refurbished Phones Stolen?

Refurbished Phone Myth #1

I've been buying refurbished phones for a few years now, and one question that keeps coming up is: Are refurbished phones stolen phones?

I can understand where that concern comes from, especially if you've never bought a refurbished phone before.

From what I've seen, reputable refurbishment companies source phones through trade-ins, buyback programs, customer returns, corporate upgrades, and open-box inventory. That's very different from buying a random used phone where the device history might be harder to verify.

Of course, where you buy from matters, which is why checking the seller is just as important as checking the phone itself.

Have you ever worried about this before buying a refurbished phone?
