What Do You Think About This Scene?

Hey everyone

I decided to write a short post and find out what you think about this scene. (If someone doesn’t understand-this is the scene from Evangelion Rebuild 3.0+1.0 where Rei Q puts on a school uniform.)

I think it’s a pretty good scene, and I call it fanservice because it’s nostalgia. Fanservice is not only about vulgar moments-nostalgia is also a form of fanservice.

We, as viewers, hadn’t seen Ayanami Rei in her school uniform since Rebuild 2.0 (2009). When I first watched this scene, at first I didn’t fully realize it, and then it hit me: the final film came out in 2021, while 2.0 was released in 2009. That’s a 12-year difference. Time flies so fast, and seeing Rei in her school uniform again felt unexpectedly nice.

Ayanami Rei in a school uniform is an iconic look. Of course, you can do without it, but with it somehow it’s better. Although these are more my personal feelings about the scene.

I myself didn’t experience the Rebuilds as they were coming out. I watched them only after all the films had already been released. Before that I had only heard about them. I think for people who went through this long journey from Rebuild 1.0 all the way to the final film, it must have felt especially unusual. Life changed a lot during that time.

Overall, this scene is a pleasant reference, and it turned out well.

What do you think about this scene? Maybe you have different interpretations or your own impressions? Share your opinions and leave comments-I’ll be interested to read them.

Thank you for reading this post

the hate/dislike on kaworu and/or rei

https://preview.redd.it/m9cvxk1gd1kh1.png?width=453&format=png&auto=webp&s=bd4b15fc287775791f9052264c6ceee619655803

i dont know why people hate characters like rei or kaworu, they are my favorites. I think for me, its pretty hard to "hate" characters or stories without reason, becuase, sense i write my own characters and stories, i know how much it takes to make deep, complex, and interesting characters. and seeing deep, complex characters like rei or kaworu get watered down to just "shinji's best waifu" or "gay angel" is really sad because there is so much more to them then what people see and they have alot of thought put into them as well.𐔌՞. .՞𐦯

rei:

Anno wanted to show how deeply unsettling and tragic a blank, manufactured human would actually be. Rei breaks the unwritten rule of fiction that main characters must be expressive and driven. her emptiness unsetteld alot of viewers ,and they think its "bad writing/ character development", missing the point that her emptiness is her character development.

kaworu:

kaworu represents absolute, unconditional love and acceptance to a boy who feels completely worthless and lonely. Kaworu appears very late in the original nge and completely upends the status quo. He achieves an instant, deep emotional breakthrough with Shinji that characters like Asuka and Misato struggled to reach over several episodes. Some viewers reject him because his perfect, selfless nature feels disruptive or "too convenient" or "meaningless" on a first watch.

Rei represents isolation and the fear of being replaceable.

Kaworu represents the overwhelming vulnerability of unconditional love.

but this is all just my opinion, please be kind to me 𐔌՞. .՞𐦯

Unopular opinion: Rei's death in the battle against Armisael is preventable

As we all know, Ayanami Rei blew herself up in a last-ditch effort to destroy Armisael in Episode 20 of NGE. However, I think that her death could have been prevented in one way or another, but I don't know how. Therefore, please provide me with an answer if you have one.

PS: I forgor to spoilercode this post as it contains late-series content (I mean the rulebook doesn't require one, but for customary purposes.)

My New Rei Merch Is Taking Over My Desk

I told myself I didn’t need more Rei stuff. But never enough!

It's the Evangelion x MelGeek 30th anniversary collab keyboard. And the second the Centauri 80 Rei version dropped in the US, I grabbed it immediately.

No thoughts. Just Rei.

It’s a bit different from the Asuka version too. The Rei version is 80 layout, and it also has this little OLED control panel, which means yes, I put Rei on the screen right away. Now it’s on my desk with the wallpapers and it looks so good I can’t even pretend to regret it.
