Four Partners. Shared Costs. Better Care for Everyone.
I've been tossing around ideas in several posts about whether there might be a better way to approach healthcare in this country. I finally tried putting those thoughts together into one model.
The basic idea is simple: instead of placing the responsibility for healthcare primarily on government, employers, individuals, or insurance companies, what if we divided the responsibility among all four?
This isn't intended to be a finished policy proposal. There are percentages, income levels, costs and other details that would have to be worked out by people who know far more about those things than I do. What I'm interested in right now is whether the basic framework makes sense.
I'm particularly interested in finding the holes in this.
What have I overlooked? What wouldn't work? What would you change?
And perhaps most importantly: Could something along these lines provide good healthcare for everyone without putting the entire financial burden on any one group?
