My first attempt at a YouTube channel

[Afternoon, just a shameless plug on my YouTube channel if anyone fancies watching](https://youtu.be/bw0pPHuBbhw)

It's my attempt at working through my neverending retro gaming backlog and trying to narrow it down a bit.

Really enjoyed learning how to make these.

Encircled By Atreides & Harkonnen Alliance | Dune II: Battle For Arrakis | Ordos

In Mission 8 of Dune II: Battle for Arrakis, the situation for the Ordos has become more dangerous than ever. The battlefield is no longer a simple struggle between rival Houses. The Harkonnen and Atreides have put aside their differences, forming a powerful alliance with one goal in mind: crushing the Ordos.

Surrounded on multiple fronts, the Ordos must fight for survival while attempting to maintain control of their territory. With both enemy factions closing in, there is little room for mistakes. Every base, resource field, and strategic position becomes vital as the pressure continues to build.

The Harkonnen bring their devastating military might, while the Atreides add their own formidable forces to the assault. Together, the two Houses create a dangerous combination that threatens to overwhelm the Ordos from every direction.

As the mission unfolds, careful planning and resource management are essential. The Ordos must defend against attacks, strengthen their economy, and build enough firepower to push back the combined forces of their enemies. Being surrounded means there is nowhere to hide—the battle must be taken directly to both Houses.

With the enemy alliance tightening its grip, the Ordos face one of their greatest challenges yet. Can they break through the encirclement and survive the combined might of the Atreides and Harkonnen?

Join me for Mission 8 of Dune II: Battle for Arrakis, as the Ordos find themselves surrounded, outnumbered, and under attack from two rival factions working together.

⚔️ Two enemies. One alliance. Nowhere to run.

Can the Ordos turn the tables and emerge victorious from the chaos of Arrakis? Find out as the battle begins!

Quake just got a new episode... 30 years later

This ’90s legend is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and during the recently concluded QuakeCon, another chapter was added to this legendary shooter, another episode celebrating the aforementioned anniversary, titled Dawn of the Machine. Once again, it’s the work of the Swedish studio MachineGames, and all owners of the remastered version of Quake received it completely free. Which struck me as the perfect opportunity to put together a five-minute review, since I’d like to make a full-length video about Quake someday - except… I’ve never actually played it, so that’s all the more reason to start… in my typical fashion, “from the end.”

More in my review! :)

Rating: 9/10
Pros: QUAKE, free for owners of the remaster, solid combat, map design, soundtrack, difficulty
Cons: some players might not like replaying levels, a few bugs, getting stuck on staircases

Czech version

Hodnocení: 9/10
+: QUAKE, pro majitele remasteru zdarma, poctivá řežba, design map, soundtrack, obtížnost
-: někomu můžou vadit opakované průchodu levely, pár bugů, zasekávání se o schodiště

if details change ill update the text in comments. Normally these aren't so "?" at launch

The Konami Code Was a Mistake?! Retro Gaming’s Most Famous Cheat Explain...

Every retro gamer remembers it: UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A START. But did you know the Konami Code , the most famous cheat in gaming history ,was never supposed to exist?

During development of the NES port of Gradius in 1986, the game was so difficult that a programmer secretly added a cheat code to help with testing. It was meant to be removed before release… but it wasn’t. Players discovered it, Konami embraced it, and the rest became gaming legend.

Ultimate Guide to the SEGA GENESIS

So, here's my retrospective about the Genesis, its great games, hardware / peripherals and a deep-dive review of Streets of Rage 2, plus my "best" ranking of all Sonic games (16-bit). I remember the first time playing the Gens with my buddy all night back in '89 - unforgettable. Take me back, please!

TOTAL RECALL

Who remembers playing Total Recall? My retrospective video goes back to rediscover this Ocean Software game released across all formats. There certainly were a few development challenges. I also take a look at the NES version developed by Interplay and published by Acclaim.
Were they any good?

In Defense of ETERNAL CHAMPIONS - A Sega Genesis Retrospective

What did YOU think of Eternal Champions? A unique take of a 2D brawler, or just another sad Street Fighter II clone? I personally liked it quite a bit, as I explain in this retrospective.

🏜️ Outmaneuvering The Harkonnen Menace | Dune II: Battle For Arrakis | Ordos

House Ordos returns to the battlefield for another brutal campaign on the dangerous sands of Arrakis. In Mission 7, the conflict intensifies as Ordos faces the powerful forces of House Harkonnen. With valuable Spice at stake and enemy forces determined to stop the Ordos advance, careful planning and aggressive strategy are needed to survive.

The mission begins with Ordos establishing its presence on the desert battlefield, gathering Spice and building up the resources needed to create a powerful fighting force. As the Harkonnen strengthen their positions, Ordos must expand its base, protect its harvesters, and prepare for increasingly dangerous attacks.

As the battle develops, the fighting spreads across the desert. Enemy bases, defensive positions, and military units stand between Ordos and total victory. The Harkonnen are not an opponent to underestimate, and breaking through their defenses requires patience, tactical positioning, and overwhelming firepower.
