Lightening starts fire in Church Hill?
I saw a lightening strike, then smoke. Is everyone okay?

I just got back from a visit to Richmond over Fourth of July weekend because we are thinking about moving there next year. We are from Austin and were surprised at how little people there seemed to be. Are we just used to the overpopulation of Austin and this is pretty normal? Me and my partner both expected there to be a bit more people out for the weekend. (Yes I know it was hot and that could also have been a factor.)
Has kings dominion and the water park really gotten nasty? I read some pretty disturbing reviews online.
The Richmond Flying Squirrels/CarMax park were a huge disappointment tonight for their fireworks show. Paying extra for field access which granted you a few bounce houses and a spot to sit on the lawn. the ticketing system is a 10 step process where you have to download an app, sign up, follow them, then maybe you can access your tickets. The bands were a joke. The atrocious cover band Grateful Shred, with their 70 year old lead singer who should honestly give his horse vocal chords a rest, decided to give a politically motivated “shout out” at the end of their set cursing in-front of a whole crowd of children. which led to several patrons flipping the middle finger. Fantastic children’s experience. Fireworks were meh. Do better.
Hello everyone! This is Lady Finger, my foster cat. He is a sweet young kitty who needs a home. Lady Finger is estimated to be 1-2 years old. He is neutered, chipped, fully UTD on all vaccines, and FIV/Feline Leukemia negative. No litterbox issues. Veterinary records will come with him.
When coming home one night, I witnessed a fluffy gray and white kitty crossing the street. I immediately called out to him and he came right over! I took him to RACC to get him scanned for a chip and there was not one present. Because of his friendly nature, good condition, young appearance, and sudden appearance in our neighborhood, I believe that he may have been dumped. I would love to keep him but unfortunately my income is not sufficient to support another animal long term.
Lady Finger is very social and loovesss to play. His favorite toy is anything he can bat around, like a fluffy ball. He is a true cuddle bug and is super affectionate. While living with our two cats, I've never once witnessed him hiss or growl at anyone. Very respectful young man. Lady Finger is not shy at all and likes all people and other cats from what I have observed.
A few things to note:
- He may be allergic to Revolution Plus. When he received his first application, he did develop a bald patch to the application site. Fur is now growing back normally.
- He is not fond of dogs, so a dog-free household would be best for him.
- Lady Finger is now an indoor only cat.
- Lady Finger is very energetic! He will need plenty of attention from his new family.
- Yes you can change his name!
- So far I have been only been feeding him wet food. It is unknown to me how he will take to dry food.
- Speaking of food, this man is VERY food motivated.
There is a small fee associated with adopting Lady Finger in order to keep him safe. Please ask any questions in the comments. If you are interested in adopting Lady Finger please reach out to me via DM and we can chat! Thank you.
Where is the best place to park to watch fireworks?
Going to be traveling to Richmond in about 2 weeks was wondering what courses are worth it right now. I was going to go back to new Kent because it was easily my favorite round down there last time, however I’ve seen that the conditions are absolutely horrible right now. What other courses in the area have good conditions and are just fun courses to play in general. Looking for a less than $300 round but possibly willing to go a little more if the course is just perfect.
I built a free game where you walk to real historic places and collect them. Richmond is dense with listed spots, but a database doesn't know which ones people actually care about.
Your recommendations would get featured on the map — so, what's genuinely worth seeing? What gets hyped but shouldn't be?
Hello Everyone! I hope all is well and people are looking forward to the Fourth of July Holiday weekend AND the USA's 250th anniversary! Don't forget the USA plays tonight in the World Cup at 8 P.M. and tournament darling Cape Verde plays on Friday at 3 P.M. I missed a May AMA altogether and I'm just sliding in under the wire for a June AMA. So hit me up with all of your real estate questions!
Hi everyone,
29M (Straight) here been in Richmond since August. Where are some good spots for finding a date or meeting friends?
Haven’t been on a date in a few years and would like to try and put myself out there. 😅
My wife and I are in our late 50s, retired and considering a move to Richmond and the Church Hill neighborhood seems like it checks a lot of our boxes
For those of you who live in Church Hill, how do you feel about the area overall? I've read that there are issues with crime - Are there particular blocks or sections people generally try to avoid, especially for someone new to Richmond?
See you all at 4pm to commemorate the Stonewall Uprisings and retake the name Stonewall ave. There's a chance of rain, but we'll be marching on so long as there's no lightning.

Hello. A relative of mine is looking for a good attorney that does general practices and does civil litigation, family law, and criminal. Please let me know if there’s any ones that can be recommended. She’d like a no nonsense one.
I’m early 50’s, divorced, moving to Richmond. Looking for somewhere relatively safe, some green spaces to walk my dog, and maybe some folks around my age.
Their website doesn’t seem to be working and they haven’t posted on social in a while. I hope they’re still around! They were such a good resource.
Update: I emailed them and they said, "unfortunately we are going to have to remain closed for a little while. I would suggest you rent from our friends up at Kul Wheels or Riverside Cycling".
