First Joe Don Baker, Now Schlitz…

I hope it’s not behind a paywall. There’s a Change.org petition to save the beer that we chuckle at.

Android/Google TV app in the works?

I know there are ways to "cast" from a mobile device onto a tv running Google TV's OS, but it would be very nice to have a native app to use. Are there any plans for this? Fire TV, which runs on Android, already has an app. Porting that to Android TV/Google TV probably wouldn't require much in the way of resources or billable hours.

MST3K: The Movie anniversary screenings

As you may know I've been screening Bowie movies (mostly Labyrinth) at theaters across the country for the 40th anniversary. Well, I've learned that MST3K The Movie is screenable via Universal and this year is the 30th. It'd be neat to screen that at an art house near you all too!

If I screened it in Minneapolis, it'd be neat if Frank Conniff or another cast member could come out and say a few words to the audience even if they weren't involved with the show at that specific point.

This is fitting because many of us here saw This Island Earth in an art house theater 30 years ago, some of us on a double bill with Brain Candy!

What’s a good art house theater near you that I should be contacting? And who can wear their jumpsuits or bring bots?

Best Friends One Click Content

When I first subscribed to Best Friends, I was totally confused by the One Click Content, because there was simply no way that it had the movie and the riff, so I never even touched it on my Roku app. Then one day I just did it and was completely shocked to find that it actually DID have the film and the riff.

How?! Super temporary licenses? Is this just something we don’t talk about because we don’t want to question it? Should I shut up and just appreciate? I need to know!

Favorite terrible lines?

"Ator, we are brother and sister" (Ator the Fighting Eagle)

"I would even try being a lesbian" (Dancing It's On) (it's a lyric and not a line of dialogue, but I felt like it)

"Yay yay" (Fun in Balloonland)

"He touched my breast" (The Wizard)

"The ice cream man is like the pied piper, but evil" (Ice Cream Man)

Thank you Rifftrax webmaster

I was scrolling through the catalog today to decide what I was going to watch tonight and I noticed that a new "LEAVING [DATE]" notice has been added for movies that are soon to be removed from the catalog (so far, it looks like it just applies to the Gumby movie which is being removed on 5/29). While it's always kind of disappointing when a movie gets removed from the catalog and I hope to never see another "LEAVING..." warning ever again, it is rather helpful to now get a bit of a heads up before the movie is no longer available for streaming/purchase.

Question About Battlefield Earth

So, I really want to see this "episode" but I've heard a lot of things about this, how if you have a special edition DVD, the audio track won't sync properly or whatnot so I'm just wondering. If I were to go to the website right now and purchase Battlefield Earth, is it just an audio track for a specific version of the movie, or is there an option to buy this with video?

I'm hesitant to spend money unless I know exactly what I'm getting

Swimming with family growing up - in the buff???

Today at work, I had an interesting conversation with one of my co-workers. We are both in our early 40s and we were talking about growing up and both of us having pools while young and living with our parents. We were just shooting the breeze and out of the blue he asked if it was common for us to swim naked growing in our pool. I said that I did a couple of times, but only when no one was home.  He said that it was common for him and his family to swim in the buff together. I looked at him like he had a hole in his head.  No way.

He was dead serious and said of course that many of his friends, millennials, did the same thing growing up. For reference, he was born and raised in Florida, and I was born and raised in Ohio. We are both in California now.

I know of no friends growing up that swam naked with their family.  He said this was common with families in Florida.  I can not imagine millennials swimming in the buff with family growing up.

Was this something you experience growing up with your family?  Is this a regional thing?  I still think he is pulling my leg.
