Surly Bridge Club

Anyone here have a Bridge Club? How does it handle some single track? I live in Dallas Texas, and come to find out there’s lots of single track near me and off of our paved bike trails. I’m looking for a rigid mountain bike that can handle all this that I can also build up and swap parts as time goes. The BC seems like a great candidate to go explore the off road paths here. Anyone have personal experience with one? Also curious about the Sklar PBJ, and the Wilde Supertramp, but budget may be more of a Surly BC. Thanks!

My new Wilde Supertramp

I wasn’t really in the market for this bike, nor did I have the funding for one, but I sold my beloved All-City Super Professional SS and had a deal from a friend of a friend I just couldn’t pass on. Dude rode it TWICE and decided he didn’t like the way it felt. He had probably 15 bikes and was liquidating these things to shrink his collection. I picked it up for $1,500! He paid $3,200 for it and had it assembled by a local shop. This thing rips and is very fun. Can’t wait to throw some parts at it and take it out into the woods for an overnighter+.

"Progressive" geo and riding rigid

I am looking to buy a hardtail that I want to have the flexibility to setup multiple ways. I want a suspension corrected frame that can accept a rigid fork and large tires. I am also wanting to try out progressive geometry with typical longer, lower, slacker.

My question is, how slack is too slack for rigid riding? The slackest rigid bike I have owned is a fat bike with a 68 head angle. Would a Pipedream Sirius be a crazy bike to ride as a rigid singlespeed?

New wheels for JOnsey boi

what a day.... I thought I really liked my swb until today. After finally assembling the last pieces of a 29"carbon wheel build, I mounted the tires and went out for a cruise. The onyx Veper hub was a dream to pedal, the instant engagement reminds me of riding a fixed gear, the feeling is a truly direct connection between my feet and the rubber against the earth. I noticed this the most on little hops and tight hairpin turns. The compliant yet firm engagement has an organic feel as opposed to the metallic kind of feeling you get when the pawls on other hubs engage, you truly must ride one to get an idea of how awesome they are. Being my first set of carbon wheels, I didn't have any expectations in particular for the rims and the 29" wheels carry speed far better than the stock 27.5 set that the swb comes specc'd with. They seem stiff and yet a little compliant through the rough rocky forest roads and singletrack... overall I'm very very pleased with this build. 10/10 would recommend BTLOS i45 wheels if you need a wide rim for your plus bikes, they were very quick to respond to emails and kept me in the loop about the process and shipping updates. The best part about this ride was getting to fall in love with the swb all over again the 29" wheels really help this frame shine, super playful, super stable, these wheels turned this bike into even more of a smile inducing machine, Jeff Jones really has figured out how make a bike that makes me feel like a little kid again.

26' Muirwoods is an absolute beast

Edit: It's a 2026 model, wheels are 27.5'

This machine is absolutely crazy! Love how it rides, looks and feels. Single tracks, downhills - it eats all of it. Absolute B.E.A.S.T.

Does this belong here?

It started life as a 2018-ish Trek Verve 2. I picked it up used for ~$170 a couple of months ago and turned it into this, mostly with parts from Aliexpress.
