Driving gripe

Most people complain about people driving like maniacs, and I'm not trying to argue against that.

But I swear to god, anytime I'm behind someone on a single lane road anywhere in Rockland, the car in front of me is doing 5-15 mph under the speed limit like clockwork!

I promise I am no speed demon, but I really want to go at least the speed limit or safely a bit over. Just had to get this vent out lol!

Question about traffic tomorrow in Rockland county

I mean my specific question is just I have to drive from Nyack into dobbs ferry tomorrow in the early afternoon and wondering how Trump visiting effects a route like that at this time. But I’m also wondering in general how his appearance affects traffic throughout the county. I realize no one has an exact answer to that but have they announced what roads would be closed or what to avoid or are they not allowed to do that ?

Schools and daycares closing early on Friday because of the event at RCC w.t.f.

I can’t understand how the rally at RCC means that clarkstown and other schools far away from the event need to close.

reddit.com

RCC's Field House can hold 5,200 people. From what I have researched over 5,000 people have "registered" for the rally.

Please don't make any comments/jokes about killing the President.

This also goes for other elected officials and regular people. I get it: Quite a few people don't like Trump. I don't like Trump either. With this Trump-Lawler event coming up any kind of statements like that take on a whole different meaning. So don't do it. If you do do it I'm going to be forced to contact the authorities and I don't particularly want to have that conversation.

Mike Lawler and Donald Trump event will be held at the RCC Fieldhouse.

Prepare for a traffic apocalypse if you live/work anywhere in that area of Ramapo.

NY-17 race: Davidson attacks Conley over “ICE ties” while investing in major federal contractors

For those of you following the NY-17 race and receiving campaign mailers, you’ve probably seen the recent negative attacks from the Davidson campaign accusing Cait Conley of having ties to what Trump’s ICE is doing.

But when you actually look at what’s being alleged, the connection is extremely tenuous.

From what’s publicly been described, Cait did freelance work related to counter-drone and public safety systems for New York-based companies: the kind of technology used to prevent attacks at stadiums, public events, and crowded civilian spaces.

There’s no evidence she was personally involved in immigration enforcement policy or ICE operations, and a lot of people online seem to be making sweeping assumptions about technical work they don’t actually understand.

What makes the attacks especially hard to take seriously is that Davidson herself has disclosed investments in companies with much more direct ties to the same surveillance, AI, and federal contracting ecosystem she’s criticizing.

According to Davidson’s own disclosures (public as of yesterday):

  • She held Oracle stock, despite Oracle’s well-documented work supporting DHS/ICE infrastructure
  • She invested in Vertiv, which profits heavily from AI and data-center expansion
  • She owned large positions in healthcare and pharmaceutical giants deeply tied to federal contracting and lobbying

For example: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/mythics-inc-awarded-dhs-immigration-and-customs-enforcement-cloud-bpa-301706868.html

(Source disclosure filing: https://disclosures-clerk.house.gov/public_disc/financial-pdfs/2026/10076946.pdf | Her 2025 filing showing big health insurance investments: https://disclosures-clerk.house.gov/public_disc/financial-pdfs/2025/10063522.pdf)

You can absolutely have a broader debate about AI surveillance, government contracting, or the national security industry. Those are legitimate issues. But it’s difficult to view these attacks as principled when Davidson’s own household investments are far more financially connected to that ecosystem than the freelance work she’s attacking Cait over.

Liberty elementary school - valley cottage

Does anyone have any kids or had kids who went to liberty elementary school recently? Like within the last two years. We live in valley cottage and I have a three year old. I would like to learn more about how the school is and what to expect. I’ve been hearing mixed things right now from different parents.

Today - School Board & Budget Votes

Vote YES on budgets.

PSA : In Clarkstown the maga moms for liberty candidates are Francis and Rankin.

For those who do not know… Moms for Liberty candidates want to ban books and want evangelical Christianity in our schools and the maga candidates do not believe in science. We need to vote against these people to protect our kids.

Post your local district candidates and whether they are maga moms for liberty or not so we can make sure people know who to vote for or against.

Nyack Street Fair - Prices for food and a severe lack of prices for food

Hi all,

I am a long time Rockland resident and a long time fan of the Nyack Street Fair. I always go 3 to 4 times a year. It's a great experience to walk around and check out different ethnic foods. See lots of interesting handicrafts, art, jewelry and just to people watch. The lady walking around with the big snake on her neck and shoulders was different.

I went at noon and it was packed. Lots of opportunity for the vendors to sell their stuff and make money. That is a good thing.

But I have to say the prices for food is just outrageous. $31 for a lobster roll. $6 for a gourmet chocolate chip cookie or 4 for $20. $8 for an iced tea. $7 for lemonade poured out of a bottle of Kirkland brand from Costco. A plate of Korean or Indian food for $22.

Most of the vendors selling food do not even have prices displayed on their signage.

Now I know prices have gone up and I see that every week when I go to the supermarket to shop for food. But some of these prices are just insane.

I came away from the street fair today rather disappointed.

This is what a data center sounds like 24/7. Shown here at midnight with hundreds of residential houses immediately next to it.
