Roku constantly reinstalls Roku Channel and turns it on unprompted.

We keep removing the Roku Channel entirely because we're never going to use it, and then the next day it reinstalls itself, and if we leave the TV alone for a little while, it will literally start up the Roku Channel and turn on something entirely random. This time it was a cooking show in Spanish for some reason. Getting really, really tired of this. It seems designed to manipulate viewership metrics with false views, which has to be SOME kind of fraud.

Help! Can’t cancel Roku for Hulu!

I know this has been covered before, but I haven’t been able to find answer.

I have Hulu through the Hulu website, but I’m also being charged for Roku for Hulu (R4H). R4H told me to contact Hulu, but Hulu invoices show that they are not charging me for R4H.

I cannot find a way to delete it! Please rid me of this scourge!

Closed Captions not coming on (RokuUltra)?

Anyone else experiencing this? Lately, closed captioning is not showing up on the screen on multiple apps for me. I have a Roku Ultra. The closed captioning is set to be on when you look at the settings for each individual app and I will try turning it off and then turning it back on I will try exiting the app altogether. I will try totally restarting the Roku ultra. Occasion occasionally if I exit the app that I was trying to watch go to a different one turn closed captioning on and off multiple times in that other app then go back to the app. I was trying to watch him. It will suddenly work, but it is not even consistent with that method. This has been happening with HBO Max, Netflix, Hulu, and Paramount +. I’m in the US. Anyone else experiencing this in May 2026? Anyone found a solution?

Edited to Add: I found a solution. If you turn off the "universal" Roku closed captioning in the main Roku settings and then only use the in-app (like HBO Max, Netflix, Hulu etc.) closed captions, they appear to be coming back without issue! This is how I did it from my Roku Ultra. Your exact path may be different depending upon your model...

  • Press Home on the Roku remote.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Go to Accessibility.
  • Select Captions mode.
  • Set it to Off.
  • Back out to Home.
  • Open one affected app, like Netflix or HboMax.
  • Start a show/movie.
  • Open that app’s playback controls:
    • Usually press Up, Down, or the * button depending on app.
  • Find Audio & Subtitles, Subtitles, or Captions.
  • Select English CC or your preferred subtitle track.
  • Let the video play for 30–60 seconds and see if captions appear.

How does Roku determine what sports are live?

Every time I search for live sports on the Roku Sports tab I find that there are missing events. The apps they are on is not always a complete list of where the games are available in my subscriptions. Is there a way to improve my results?

Kids show to inappropriate

This happens a lot and I can’t figure it out.

I start watching Blippi with my kid at the end of the episode the Roku will start playing something completely off topic. Today was Judge Judy. Yesterday was a MMA fight. Wtf.

I put a pin on my Roku account that I obviously wrongfully assumed it was prompt me for before starting a new tv show that had a more mature rating.

I’m getting tired of this crap.

I’ve tried googling but can’t figure it out or I’m searching the wrong thing.

Your ads are killing me smalls

Good lord Roku. The crappy ads for the gambling/solitaire games are enough to make a person never watch Roku again. They are torture. An insult to your viewers and possibly the most annoying things on television. Make them stop or insist that the ads are of better quality.

TCL Roku TV remote pairing

Hey guys. I have a TCL Roku TV and the remote is busted. I would normally just use the Roku app, but unfortunately my tv got disconnected from WiFi when I came back to use it and now I can’t pair to it. Now, I have purchased a new Roku remote and can’t seem to pair it to the tv. Has anyone here had this same problem that can offer a solution or some insight on how I can pair the new remote so I can then connect the tv to WiFi?

Roku Media Player

I have 2 SSDs attached to my TCL TV via USB. Whenever I turn off the power, the RMP resets itself (“boots up”). It used to show me the last show/movie played. Can I get back to that? e.g., every morning, I’ll watch two episodes of “I Love Lucy.“ My list used to show the last one played so I could just move on; now, RMP boots up, and I have to find the show, then the season, then the episode. Help!

Can't get rid of "Happy streaming" banner

So of course as the years are going by we are getting more and more intrusive ads inside roku, even in the Roku city Screensaver.

This one takes the cake, though. It's too hard to navigate past. Any one know how to get rid of it??

how do i get the tv to remain on hdmi?

so my grandparents are not technologically savvy at all. they have a roku with a cable box. with their old cable box, when they turned the tv on with the cable remote it would go directly to cable, no need to be on the roku main screen and then click hdmi 1 and then get to cable. that cable box died and i had to replace it for them, and now i have to go through the process listed above. does anyone know how to make it like it was before, where once the tv is on it’s automatically on hdmi 1? they have optimum if that at all matters. thank you!

TCL/roku drops wifi every 10-15 minutes

TCL/roku has recently started disconnecting every 10-15 minutes. I can go to network and it's still saved I just click connect and it reconnects but it constantly doing this is quite frustrating. No problems with any other devices including phone , tablet, and PC which are all father away from the router than the TV. Renting so I don't really have access to the router. The TV is only about 8' away though behind a single interior wall. I have tried resetting the network on the TV, no improvement. I found some support instructions to do a 5 min power cycle and hold the power button for 30 secs, unless I imagined it this seemed to help for a few hours until I turned it off for the night and the next day it was dropping again, the same support instructions also showed to access a hidden menu and toggle pings so I tried that as well and nothing has changed. I was trying to find roku support on their website but I can't find anything relevant or any way to contact them, so I thought I would try here next, I haven't tried a full factory reset of the entire TV yet but I guess that will be next barring any alternative options discovered from this post. I would greatly appreciate any help here, thanks in advance for your time and knowledge.
