So, I'm new to the fandom of Don't Starve, but I absolutely love the series! I've spent hours upon days looking up information on characters and lore, and much like those who enjoy DnD I very much like the creative freedom of roleplays! Adventures and drama, using the characters and situations as we see fit. I'm honestly just looking for a friend who loves coming up with fun "Stories" and character bonds with me!

Pairings are nice too--within reason--but I'm really more for the trope of "Found Family". After all in the world of the Constant you don't often get much sweet moments to balance out the bad otherwise. We'd both get an equal amount of characters to control, I'd even probably allow one OC provided it has thought put into it. The OC's name must start with a W as all other characters do as well.

I'm looking for people to make up interesting stories and enjoy ourselves. Having not roleplayed in so long, I've missed it greatly. Message me anytime!

Welcome to what may be the weirdest post here...

So I'm pretty new here. Really only barely "dabbled" after suddenly getting interested over the summer.

Perused the various subreddits a bit. Mostly horrified from the experience (it seems people either want you to fit into a tiny, narrow, entirely pre-defined hole they've created to scratch their own itch, or have like 47 other plots going on at once and only intend to reply to the "most interesting" one every day, or tipe liek dis) and growing a bit disillusioned as to even being in the right place for what I'm selfishly hoping exists.

Which is what, exactly?

I'm so glad you asked. You're so inquisitive.

First and foremost, I want to develop and actual, genuine, real, intimate friendship with someone. Probably a writer/reader/fellow wordslut if you're here of all places on a Tuesday evening. But definitely one person, with at least enough time and attention and imagination and affection and intention to give to this.

And I'd love if one of the central tenets of that friendship (isn't that your new favorite sorely underused word??) is a roleplay between us that can develop alongside our friendship.

To likely include:

• nerding out about writing/our characters/an upcoming "surprise" plot twist we can to see how the other navigates
• getting to know each other as people outside of any writing exercises/characters/etc.
• genuinely enjoying each others company and time and thoughts and presence
• being there for each other for life's ups and downs

Who knows, if we're really good at the above our running gag can be "you know, we really need to get around to actually doing a roleplay one of these days..."

And I'd adore if you would be willing to hold my hand and show me the ropes, so to speak! Like there are so many terms I see thrown around here that I don't understand like "literate" (if you don't say that, are you inviting "ooga-booga" writing??) or why some people prefer third person vs first person, that kind of thing. And maybe help me be a better writing partner for you along the way? I do aim to please and genuinely want to provide a fun, engaging, and meaningful experience to you in the end.

Does any of that make any sense? Is this the dumbest thing you've ever read??

I'm trying to leave things vague enough to spark a conversation, but also decidedly not give the impression that I'm asking anyone to come at me with a pre-generated prompt like I would have any idea what to do with that.

Here I am. Again. At this point, searching for a long term writing partner has become less of a hobby and more of an annual migration pattern.

I promise I am nice.

I just want someone who also enjoys taking perfectly functional fictional people, handing them several avoidable problems, shaking the container vigorously, and seeing what happens.

I’m 21, UK based, and write anywhere from literate to novella depending on what is actually happening. Sometimes a scene needs 600 words. Sometimes somebody pauses halfway through making a cup of tea and apparently I need to submit a small dissertation explaining why. There is no in between. I love character focused, long term stories with actual plots. That's probably the biggest thing I'm looking for.

I don't want the entire story revolving around one single element or interaction. I want our characters to actually have lives. Jobs. Families. Friends. Responsibilities. Goals. Problems. Hobbies. Weird neighbours. That coworker they would happily launch directly into the sun. A mother who somehow always calls at the worst possible moment. A favourite takeaway where the staff already know their order. A car that's been making a concerning noise for three months that they keep choosing to ignore.

Give me LORE.

I want something where we start with a vague idea and six months later we're discussing the implications of an event neither of us had even invented when we started. I want plots that actually move. I want consequences. I want character development. I want stupid decisions. I want characters confidently announcing that they have everything under control approximately twelve seconds before everything becomes considerably less under control.

Most importantly, I want collaboration. Please throw ideas at me. If you suddenly message me at 11:47 p.m. with: WAIT I HAVE AN IDEA I am listening. If your idea is completely ridiculous? Even better. If it requires us to rewrite seventeen pieces of established lore and introduce somebody's estranged aunt who lives in Wisconsin?

GET THE AUNT.

Half the fun for me is plotting OOC and gradually building this ridiculous little fictional universe together. And I mean building it. I will make side characters. You will make side characters. Our side characters will accidentally become important. Some random neighbour called Dave who was created exclusively because we needed somebody to collect a parcel will somehow acquire a job, a divorce, two children, an ongoing dispute with the local council and his own subplot.

We will become emotionally invested in Dave. Nobody planned for Dave. This is how it happens. I want families with actual personalities and histories instead of conveniently spawning whenever the plot requires a parent. I want friendships. I want workplaces. I want recurring locations. I want inside jokes that make absolutely no sense anymore because they originated 200 replies ago. I want tiny details becoming important months later completely by accident. I want one of us to casually reference something that happened ages ago and the other immediately appear OOC screaming: YOU REMEMBERED THAT????

I also need you to understand something extremely important before contacting me. I use Pinterest irresponsibly. I will find houses. I will find apartments. I will find outfits. I will find restaurants. I will decide what their kitchen looks like. I will find the exact stupid little coffee cup sitting beside their sink. Nobody asked me to do this. It will happen anyway. At some point I will send you a board containing 184 images and say something incredibly helpful like: "okay hear me out" There will be no further explanation. You will simply have to enter the enclosure and observe.

As far as characters go, my main OC will always be a woman (sometimes i play male characters, but I'm more picky), but you can bring whoever you enjoy writing. I genuinely love hearing about people's OCs, especially the ones you've been carrying around in your brain for an unreasonable amount of time waiting for somewhere to use them.

I'm also completely happy chatting OOC. You don't need to disappear into the mist between replies unless that's your preference. Send me memes. Send me plot thoughts. Send me a picture and say "this is literally them." Send me a completely incomprehensible message about something our characters did three months ago. I will probably understand.

Basically, I want a long term writing partner who wants to create something big, messy, detailed, funny, occasionally painful, and actually alive. Not one repetitive storyline. Not characters existing in a vacuum. I want a whole stupid universe. A plot with other plots hiding inside it. Characters who change. Side characters who refuse to stay side characters. Running jokes. Callbacks. Bad decisions. Unexpected consequences. Entire conversations OOC beginning with "technically..." and ending with us completely restructuring the next month of writing.

If that sounds like your particular flavour of nonsense, please come say hi. Bring me your characters. Bring me your ideas. Bring me the deranged Google Doc. Bring me the plot you've restarted four times because nobody has ever quite matched your energy. Bring me the Pinterest board you should probably be embarrassed about but absolutely aren't.

One day it will come out. Maybe someone found out or my character being pregnant. But we can think of ideas for it! We will start when the characters are secretly dating. I do want this to be more of a medieval roleplay, or at least definitely one of the older days. We can just make our own world and see where it takes us. It will be more of a slice of life thing. This will be FxM with my character as female.

My rules are quite simple but it helps me enjoy the roleplay. Please be at least 20+ as I am 22 as that is what I am most comfortable with, use 3rd person. Please be active, or at least decently active I do understand being a bit busy though. With the roleplay, please type like you are writing a book, use "" for talking and nothing for actions. Hi! So, I'm sure you can kind of guess what I'm looking for based on the title of this post. I want some lesbians doing things in high fantasy settings! Specifically ones influenced by things such as classic fantasy JRPGs, Frieren, Dungeon Meshi, and that sort of thing. It's my absolute favorite, and I love playing out fun romances between two ladies in settings like that.

I am a SUCKER for detailed worldbuilding. I want this to take place in a setting that we craft together!! I feel like that's the most fun way of going about it. Taking influences from our favorite things and putting them together into something we love!!

I highly value good writing and good stories above anything else. I don't want simple "character x character" dynamics in place of plots, because I feel like those get kind of stale...we can certainly USE those dynamics as a basis, but i want more! Background, etc...really get into the why of everything rather than just "it's happening, here it is" if that makes sense? I sort of feel like I'm rambling, lol.

Anyway...I've got two VERY broad ideas on the way this can go. It can be an "adventure" story or a "slice of life" story. This ad is incredibly open-ended, lol.

Adventure plots would, obviously, involve some kind of adventure aspect! Maybe our characters are on the run, or are part of a party together, or something like that. Regardless of what they are, they'd travel the land together, encountering monsters, ruins, and other sorts of things! This option is definitely more geared toward a mix of action scenes and softer gentler moments between them.

Slice of life plots, on the other hand, would obviously be a lot more low-key and chill, focusing on the romance, relationships, and overall life of our characters. Perhaps our characters are mages who study together, or maybe they live in a small village, etc... something like that! Lots and lots of sweetness and such. I really enjoy exploring fantasy worlds in a down-to-earth lens like this.

Hey, hey! W’as goin’ on? It’s been a long time since I’ve thrown my hat back into the roleplaying ring, an even longer time since I’ve written a post searching for a partner; on that part, I apologize if it’s a bit rusty. Anyhow, lately I’ve been wanting to get back into roleplay, and I kind of wanna do something more character-driven and easygoing.

A plot I kinda have in mind is: A burnout creative teaching the new hire at his job. Stuck working a dead-end job since laying his dreams down, he’s saddled with the (at first, begrudging) burden of training the newest hire. Eventually, the two grow closer, yadiyadayada. Can you tell it’s been a while?

About me as a partner, though. I tend to range from semi-literate to literate; legitimately, it just depends on how much imagery and scene-setting I can suck out of one moment. Sometimes I’ll write about the way steam billows from a kettle, or how paint dries when a window is left open. Other times, I’ll just do the best I can at pressing the plot forward. Really, it’s all contingent on what’s happening for us both. I make a killer opener, though!

I work a part-time job right now, but am starting college next year, so my schedule will likely fill up here and there. Right now, though, I am free as the wind kissing a field.

I am 19, so I’d prefer someone over 18. You could be 30 for all I care, honestly—just don’t be under 18.

For a plot, I’d honestly love to plan it as we go. Start with a basic premise and watch it go from this wee little thing to a tower sorta deal. I obviously have a more vivid “idea” in terms of the creative burnout (which is not projecting, I swear ^^’) and the new hire, but if you have any other ideas or premises you’d want to follow, I’m locked in. (Drummer x bassist would be fire, too, ngl).

Lastly, I am somebody who thrives off OoC chatter. It’s paramount to weaving a coherent plot, I think, and I also just like to know the person I’m writing with. Obviously, I won’t yap yer ear off till you hate me, but I just want a partner to chat with about the plot.

Really, I’m just looking for a fun, simple RP that can be a neat little past time for us both to practice our character-writing skills.

I'm happy doing canon-based plots within a fandom, completely original settings, or something somewhere in between. I'm also perfectly happy to have an OC interact with canon characters, have multiple OCs interact, or play entirely canon characters depending on what we're both interested in.

OCs & canon characters

I write both original and canon characters!

I have quite a few OCs across different fandoms and settings, and I'm always happy to introduce them. I also enjoy creating completely new characters specifically for a plot if that's something we'd both prefer.

I'm also comfortable playing canon characters, and I don't expect you to only play canon characters either. OC x OC, OC x Canon, Canon x Canon, etc. are all possibilities depending on the fandom and story.

OOC communication

This is pretty important to me!

I'd like to be able to talk OOC while we're RPing. You don't have to be constantly available or respond immediately — life happens, and I'm not expecting instant replies.

But I'd really like a partner who actually enjoys chatting outside the RP too. I'd love to talk about our characters, brainstorm future plot ideas, send memes, gush about scenes, discuss lore, etc.

Basically, I'm looking for a writing partner AND a friend, rather than someone who only wants to interact when we're actively writing.

Communication is also important if something isn't working for you. Please just tell me! I'm much happier changing a plot or discussing a problem than having someone silently disappear.

A few boundaries

There are a few things that are non-negotiable for me:

• Please be over 18. I'd ideally like someone around my age, but 18 is the minimum.

• Please don't be bigoted or hateful. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, etc. are a hard no.

• LGBTQ+ characters and OCs are absolutely welcome.

• Please respect my identity and don't approach me expecting romantic attention from a man.

• Communication and mutual respect are extremely important to me.

• I'm not interested in partners who expect me to be available 24/7.

• Please don't pressure me into plots, characters, relationships, or themes I'm uncomfortable with.

• I'm looking for something collaborative — not one person controlling the entire story.

I'm also perfectly happy to discuss boundaries, triggers, and RP preferences before we start. I'd rather establish that stuff beforehand so that we're both comfortable!

What I'm hoping to find

It had been an evening like so many others in his life. He entered his chambers, took off his clothes, had a warm bath, and slipped under the sheets at a reasonable hour, and slowly let the sound of rustling wind carry him to sleep, knowing that the next day, he would have had a lot to do

And to think that a 'next day' might not come anymore...

Now, still shrouded in complete darkness, his chest heaved up and down - or at least, as much as the knee that was firmly pressed against it allowed

The figure that loomed above him resembled a human only in its silhouette: everything else, from the coldness of its skin, to the shimmering slits it had for eyes, to the absurd amount of hair that flowed from its head, made it look more like a ghost, or some kind of spirit of vengeance came to claim his soul for some sin he never knew he committed

"P-p-please...!"

He found the strength to whimper under his breath, trying to find any trace of empathy into those piercing, terrifying eyes

"I--I-I don't know what you want, but if you could just tell me, I can give yo--ARGH-!"

His attempt of negotiation died before it even started, when that knee pushed just hard enough for his voice to crumble into a pained lament

And in that same moment, the face of that person (if it was even one) began to lean closer to his*

Enough for a waterfall of those long, silken black hair to slide over his face and smother it, clouding his perception of the world in a soft, inescapable veil. As he breathed, an almost sickening perfume, a flowery fragrance filled his senses, making his head hurt and feel lighter at the same time. A burning sensation to spread from his nose all the way down to his chest, and into his very heart... and yet, it felt irresistibly relaxing

Relaxing even when he began to feel those locks wrapping around his throat and making his breath difficult

"Shhh..."

Do you want to play a story that has both genuine, real character development and passionate moments? One that is neither a fairytale nor a mindless collection of graphic stuff? One that can seamlessly blend fear, infatuation, danger and obsession in a mix that will leave you addicted and wanting for more?

You can call me Derrick, 21M with a huge passion for fiction, storytelling, fantasy, d&d, and a LOT more things, and among those, roleplaying is one of my favorite creative outlets - in particular, for a while I've been wanting to try a story centered around, you guessed it, an Assassin and Target dynamic! ✨

The scenarios that can spark this kind of sorry are endless, but just to give an example, here's a possible idea:

My character, a young noble, inexperienced and not exactly known for his extrovertedness, will soon find himself eligible to be a ruler of his county. But maybe due to some deep-rooted spite between families, a wrong word said at the wrong time, or simply the opportunity to create a power vacuum, unbeknownst to him there will be a plot in motion, one that involves taking him out of his royal duties

Permanently

And what better way to take him out of the picture if not with a deadly, perfectly skilled assassin that will leave no kind of trace? One so silent to almost look like a dancer when sliding among the shadows, whose beauty looks almost blasphemous compared to the amount of despair she is able to inflict?

The kind of assassin your character will be, along with her specific methods, species and appearance, will be completely up to your preferences! She could either be a regular human, or a more uncommon race like an elf, all the way to mystical beings like tieflings, faeries, vampires and so much more!

Same goes with her work ethic: a cold, ruthlessly efficient killer will see the young noble use every trick in his repertoire to escape almost certain death... Or maybe, if said assassin has a little penchant for sadism, she will find the sight of such utter helplessness and terror too amusing to let it end this quickly?

Maybe, after bringing him to the very edge of his life, she will disappear as quickly as she came, leaving behind a very confused, but grateful survivor... until the same thing will happen the following night.

And the next

And the next one again

Slowly, his thoughts would become consumed with images of that mysterious, terrifying and enchanting figure that pays him a visit every night, almost getting so close to pierce his chest with a dagger but always sparing him at the last moment. And who knows, maybe despite his hate, frustration and fear, he would begin to... look forward to it?

The possibilities are quite literally endless, and as as you may have noticed, the blending of beauty and torture is an absolute favorite of mine. So, if you're familiar with the tropes of toxic perfumes, gentle words spoken to someone who is writhing in pain, and long flowing hair used as a weapon to choke the life out of someone, we will definitely get along pretty well >///< 💖

**TL;DR:** I’m a novella/literary, third-person past-tense writer looking for a long-term MxM partner for a collaborative medieval low-fantasy slow burn.

Y/C is the firstborn Crown Prince. M/C comes from an established rural family near the capital. They meet one summer by the river while the prince is anonymously escaping court with friends, and what starts as a chance encounter slowly becomes a routine neither of them wants to name.

Then the prince disappears for nearly a month.

M/C sees him again during the kingdom’s grand festival, only this time he is riding in the royal procession in ceremonial armor beneath the sigil of the heir. Their eyes meet, and the prince tosses him a bouquet of **white wildflowers** in front of the entire crowd.

From there, I want slow-burn romance, family and friends, court life, class differences, succession politics, diplomacy, neighboring kingdoms, and plenty of collaborative worldbuilding.

hey y’all! I’m 31F, and I live in the southwest US 🤠. I was pretty nervous to post this because I have digital stage fright, but after going back and forth about it for literal days, this post made it out the drafts. 💃🏽

I’m Black, and so are most of my OCs. Unfortunately, in the RP community it’s r e a l l y difficult to find people who are cool with that. 😭🥀 I’ve been dying for the opportunity to connect with other Black writers, or writers in general that are POC friendly without being offensive or weird about it. I’m more comfortable writing with other women, but I’m not totally closed off to writing with men! 21+ only, and even better if you’re in my age range (so like 25-35, lol). 

As for what type of RP I’m looking for, I’m not big into any fandoms tbh, so OCxOC is my tried and true favorite. Modern/urban settings are my go-to, but I’m down for some fantasy or supernatural elements for extra flavor! If you’re into romance, with plenty of conflict, tension, and drama to keep things spicy, you’re exactly where you need to be. 🙂‍↕️

I’m really looking for someone who wants to build an actual story together…not something that dies after a couple of days. I love creating characters, talking about them OOC, plotting future scenes, sending inspiration, coming up with twists, and generally getting way too attached to fictional people we created together.

I consider myself a semi advanced writer. I care more about quality than hitting a specific word count. Depending on the scene, I can write anywhere from a few solid paragraphs to much longer responses. However, I haven’t had a consistent roleplay partner in a while so I might tend to go for a few paragraphs versus more until I get the hang of it again. I tend to write in third person, but willing to write in first person.

I completely understand having a life outside of RP. Some days I can respond several times and other days I may be slower. Consistency matters more to me than speed.

Manwha/ Murim:

This is the absolute peak of my interest and has remained there rather consistently! Weather it be being taken to a murim style world, reincarnating there, or just being from there this is the peak of what i would love to do with others! In particular you will get absolute priority if you are willing to do this and GM this kind of rp with me. Murim is the world of martial arts where sword strokes can cause flower petals to form behind them and the strongest can walk on the air like it is nothing. Even If you are acting as a GM you absolutely can have a character and I will be helping if need be!

Manwha/ Gates:

Gates and towers are another classic! Where gates open up or towers appear that must be cleared in order to save the world! You could call it a soft apocalypses! If it has classes and skills or just generic mana and aura it is fine though I very much prefer the more structured system of this kinda series! This one is also looking and will prioritize GMs but it is not necessary!

While GM's and the like will get priority I am desperate enough to take almost anything just hit me up when you can and I hope to find some capable partners!

I would say in total, I have at the very least 6–8 years of experience when it comes to text-based roleplaying (that isn’t asterisks or whatever other symbols I decided to use back in my younger years). So, if I’m unfamiliar with certain terminologies or etiquettes, then please inform me. As for myself: I’m a passionate writer with a love for storytelling and a stereotypical nerd. I play various TTRPGs throughout the week, and have an imagination that never switches off. Literally, it never does. I can’t help but be awake late into the night because my mind is unravelling a knotted mess of ideas for the stories I’d love to write and publish some day.

When it comes to my partner I expect a level of commitment: if you aren’t enjoying the direction of the narrative, or my style doesn’t fit with your own, please tell me. We can discuss it together and come to a suitable arrangement that fits us both. And if not, we can at least say farewell on good terms. I’m fed up with ghosting—it has discouraged me from searching for partners on these subreddits, which is the very reason why I’ve decided to create my own post instead. I want to improve my writing and build a lasting story with a partner who ideally wishes the same.

I’m no stickler for whether you’re an advanced or semi-lit writer; I care only for your need to propel the narrative forward, and to work alongside me when we develop the world. This is imperative for me, and hopefully for you. The number of paragraphs can vary between 3–5, though heavy descriptive scenes may require more, especially since I prefer to RP in most genres under speculative fiction. Additionally, I do prefer third-person (past tense) perspective, as this is the style I’m most comfortable with. Discord will be the preferred platform for communicating and archiving our RP.

I would prefer my partner(s) to be 20+, closer to my own age (28) or older, for more than obvious reasons, I’m not comfortable with roleplaying with anyone younger. I’m a hopeless romantic and believe romance has an important role in creating a memorable story. And while it doesn’t necessarily need to be romance-focused, I would at least like for their to be developing relationships and deep friendships between player characters and NPCs met along their journey. I will add that I prefer MxF pairings, though I wouldn't be opposed to trying MxM depending on the story.

Out of character discussions are another important factor for me: I want to get to know you as much as our characters; I want to delve into the worldbuilding and lore together, and come out with a concept we’re both excited and happy with. I suppose I’m looking for a friend, as well as a partner, in that case—a connection that is long-lasting and actually means something to the two of us. I can be a rather talkative person in between replies and love being the encouraging hype man for our characters. If you make a banger of a post that absolutely blows my mind, then I’m going to tell you about it. Because if anything, most have lost the ability to give valid feedback and compliments.

What I’m interested in (as of right now):

I’ve intentionally left these rather vague and without plot ideas as I'd prefer to build them alongside my partner. I am once again searching for a long term writing partner because I've been struck by the overwhelming urge to take two fictional people with perfectly manageable problems and convince them that communication is actually the worst possible solution.

I'm 21, UK based, and write in a literate to novella style. I enjoy detailed replies, character focused stories, emotional tension, and spending an unreasonable amount of time analysing why somebody stared out of a window slightly differently than usual.

I mainly write modern settings, drama, slice of life, and grounded supernatural stories. Give me flawed characters making questionable decisions and I'll happily spend the next six months emotionally attached to them.

A quick note before we get into ideas: I write female lead characters only, but I'm happy to write opposite characters of any gender.

Some story dynamics I always come back to:

- Former friends forced back into each other's lives.

- Rich × poor.

- Success × failure.

- Thriving × barely holding it together.

- A public figure × someone completely unimpressed by them.

- A retired athlete trying to rebuild their life after a career ending injury.

- A widowed parent learning how to move forward.

- Rivals who never quite learned how to be normal around each other.

- Two people who insist they dislike each other despite overwhelming evidence otherwise.

If a story revolves around complicated histories, contrasting personalities, misunderstandings, personal growth, difficult choices, or characters repeatedly making life harder for themselves, I'm probably interested.

One of my favourite dynamics is an emotionally guarded woman paired with an endlessly optimistic person who somehow ends up becoming part of her life despite her best efforts.

I also love plotting outside of the RP because that's honestly half the fun.

I enjoy building supporting casts, families, friendships, workplaces, recurring jokes, and all the little details that make a world feel lived in (AKA I spend far too much time on Pinterest).

If you enjoy collaborative storytelling, detailed writing, slow-burn character development, and getting far too invested in fictional people making spectacularly bad decisions, I think we'd get along.

Along his journey to find his Titan, my OC comes across a stray Titan in the wild, who happens to be without a Pilot.

In the interest of survival, the pair decide it would be wise to travel together in the name of finding their respective companions.
