Book cover - AI vs human

Book cover - AI vs human

Hi everyone
I’m in the process of finishing my debut romantasy novel. Thing is, I’ve created a cover for it using AI. Nothing on that cover is random and I love the symbolic meaning of everything on it. What I don’t love is the fact that it’s not human-made. I would much prefer to have someone make a cover for me without the usage of AI. I’m afraid of several things within the process though. Firstly, I’m afraid of paying someone and then not liking the cover as much as I do the one I made myself using AI. Secondly, I’m afraid I can’t pay the actual fee - I have no idea how much such a thing is and Google didn’t help much. Thirdly, I’ve been contacted by scammers regarding the cover and now I’m afraid of trusting that someone is legit before I pay them to do it and then we’re back the the first point again. Am I the only one? Do you have any advice for me?

Oh, and I’m also worried people will see an AI cover and assume I used AI to write the book, which I did not.

I’ve uploaded the cover I made myself.

Male or Female narrator for the audiobook?

While affording it is still a question, I'm struggling to decide if I should pick a male or female narrator. I don't listen to audiobooks at all so I just am not sure.

My book is third person omnipresent so I feel like there's more of an option. It rotates pretty evenly between male and female leaning perspectives.

I guess a part of me is afraid that the MMC "deep voice" being narrated by a female will sound really cringe but apparently women are more likely to narrate in this genre?

Do you need your action to take place in the first or second chapter? Or can you wait until maybe 5/6 chapters in for action?

Im working on my book, and its the pov of 3 different women that work in a brothel. My 5th chapter is where I have some sort of action about to place. Im afraid of people losing interest before that point, but my first 4 chapters are to really introduce the 3 women from their POVs.

Third Vs First POV

I don't know whether to laugh or cry... but I think I decided my book needs to be in first person.

This epiphany occurred to me 128,979 words later.

Please feel free to laugh or cry with me. Or both.

Which do you write in, and why?

Writing Group Discord

Hi everyone! New to the sub, kinda new to reddit in general. I noticed while scrolling there’s a few older threads about writing groups and discords, but I figured I’d try my hand at making a newer one for those looking for a fresh group/environment to share their work!

As for an introduction, I’m 22F writing a political/romance high-fantasy focused around large-scale magic, dragons, politics, all the fun things hehe. My main romance is a sort of friends-to-lovers with LOTS of yearning. I have a finished manuscript that I’ve been itching for feedback on!

I recently found myself with quite a bit of spare time, I love beta/alpha reading and I loveeee connecting with people over their passion projects. I usually connect with people on other platforms, but I figured I’d give Reddit a try :) if you’re looking for a critique group, yap sessions, semi-regular virtual meetings, etc etc, let me know and maybe I’ll make up a discord server!

Specific Book Genre - Dark Romantasy? Or just Romantasy with dark elements?

New author here! I am writing my debut romantasy trilogy and I have been trying to figure out how I should "advertise" it. It's a forgotten memory, second chance type romance but the tricky part is with the "red herring" romance. This one is dark, and filled with trauma but it's not the true romance of the series. It is however, the main romance in the first book. The true romance has hardships and betrayals but no where near what I would consider a dark romance. But of course I don't want readers to know that right off the bat.

I don't want to give too much away so hopefully this is enough to have an opinion on... would it be deceiving to say it's a dark romance? I don't want to catch readers off guard with some of the darker elements.

Question about writing RH

When writing RH, how do you go about outlining four different relationships? I’m using the hero’s journey structure to outline my story plot, but wasn’t sure how best to outline each of the MMCs and how the relationship progresses with the FMC and each other. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Looking for Beta Readers for my new book

Hi all,

I recently finished editing my first Romantasy book and am looking for someone who would be interested in being a Beta reader. The book is called The Love Migration Game, and in a nutshell, it’s about a woman who secretly writes her tyrannical boss as the villain of her hit dark romance series — then gets sucked into the fantasy world she invented and forced to survive a death tournament hosted by him.

If that sounds like something you’d enjoy reading, please give me DM.

The novel is a standalone at 81k words and is intended for mature audiences (18+) only.

Thank you!

How do I write a true three-way ménage à trois?

Hello

I’m still very new to writing, so please bear with me.

I’d like to ask for your advice on how to write a ménage à trois where all three characters are in romantic relationships, so not an ‘equiangular triangle’ but an ‘equilateral’ one?
In my draft, the situation is that the man, a nobleman, has to marry a second wife for political reasons, and over time the two women become increasingly close (the relationship was never cold, and the ‘primary’ wife is rational about why her husband has a ‘mistress’, even though she was not thrilled about it.)
From my point of view, my story isn’t really a romance novel, but I’d still like to make the relationships easy to understand.

I’ve tried searching for similar topics, but I get the impression I’m in an unusual situation.

Oh, and it’s set in a fantasy/pseudo-historical world, so I thought I’d ask here (yes, I know that fact has hardly anything to do with my question, but you never know.)

Yours sincerely,

A Newbie
