New addition / meet Daisy Mae 🌻🩷
I am a first time Rottweiler owner 🫣 and looking for any suggestions for how to give this breed the best life possible!! 😊🐾 I recently adopted a 2 year old female Rottweiler from the Michigan Humane Society.
She was a stray and nurtured when she arrived at the shelter. She’s a little nervous, but very friendly overall with new people and animals. Her name is Daisy Mae and she’s the sweetest girl ever! 🌼🩷
I brought her home at the end of March. We’ve been going for long walks, she’s been sleeping in my bed, she loves her toys, and she does GREAT with other dogs at the dog park! she also loves following me from room to room 🎾
I’m 23 and she’s technically “my dog” but I live at home with my parents, and they love her too and help me take care of her. I want to help her be as happy as possible! She’s been doing great on the walks and she loves going for car rides.
I’m trying to train her with commands like sit, down, stay, come, etc. What suggestions do you have for training a Rottweiler? I’ve looked it up online and on Tikok/Youtube as well. The articles and videos have been super informational on how much energy a working breed like this has and how much mental stimulation they need daily.
I live a pretty active lifestyle in the summer, I like to go for 3-6 mile long runs and go camping all over Michigan! I want to include my dog in these activities.
I’ve been going on 3 mile long walks with Daisy and she’s been doing really good with them. They get out a lot of her energy and she’s very excited to go and happy when she comes home. Has anyone ever ran with a Rottweiler? What are your suggestions for running with this breed?
I also want to take Daisy camping this summer! I understand that before we do this I have to train her more. But we’re trying to work our way up to being prepared for it.
She’s getting better with her recall when I give the “come” command. she also does good with a 25 minute car ride, we’re slowly working up to longer car rides, which she will need to be able to do for the trip. Has anyone ever been camping with a Rottweiler and what are your suggestions?
We don’t have any other pets at the moment, but my parents are considering getting 2 cats soon, as we’ve had in the past. We will introduce them all slowly and wait at least a few more months for Daisy to get fully accumulated. Does anyone have any experience having Rottweilers and cats?
I have lots more questions but this post is already long so I’ll leave it at that. Thank you for reading and for any suggestions you leave! I appreciate having a breed community like this 😊🐾
I asked for her paw, and she gave it to me (laughs) 😂🥰 Good girl
I made this drawing for a dear friend from Wisconsin. I really love Rotties, because they are very loyal, matching their beauty; they are sweet and protective, full of charisma with love to give, and they are great models to pose for a camera

I hope you like it! I would LOVE to do more, and own a Rottie myself one day (named Carl), though this was a sweet girl who always waited at the stairs and told my client it was time for bed.
I’m on IG as @victamian thank you for looking!!!
