I have an 06 ruckus making the noise as seen in video.
The crank shaft also wiggles when I move it. And the seal is leaking fluid into the cvt.
I assume this is the crankshaft bearing failing?
Could it be anything else?
What is the cheapest way to fix this?
(I’d be doing the work)
Engine rebuild, or Get swap
Or is it a sign to swap to a Gy6…
Fresh oil change this past weekend. Recently added stainless "M5 15mm Foldable D Ring Screws" from AliExpress to the cover housing to clean up the look a bit. I also made a knurled thumb screw for the under seat storage.
Hello ruckus people,
I have a yoshimura exhaust and installing a TRS airbox delete (with the foam filter). I also have a performance carb from scooter swap shop (the kit with jets 70-115). the TRS airbox delete came with a 38 idle jet and 85 main jet. what do you recommend for jetting the carb (tips and what size jet)?
also this tubing came from the airbox (the right side of the T valve) and i’m not sure what to do with it. cut it short? block it?
Anybody got any tips on how I can avoid stripping this drain plug filter cap? I have a prima magnetic plug filter cap to replace it with and that's a 17 mm I tried going with the 17 on it and it stripped it with both a 12-point and a flat, but I think I would have to remove the exhaust to get a proper six point socket fit it on there, I already changed the oil and have the magnetic drain plug installed with the washer. Anybody got any tips? I have pb blaster.
I’m thinking about getting rear pegs. My Ruck is completely stock. I really like the clean look of the Chimera Engineering Hybrid Foot Pegs, but I’m concerned 3.5 inch length is a bit too short. Any thoughts on that length, or alternative suggestions?
Need help with my 2022 Ruckus not starting after sitting for ~2.5 years. It ran perfectly before I stored it in my dad’s basement (~2,000 miles), but a few days ago I tried to crank, and it gave a very weak effort.
So far I’ve replaced the battery with a new one and charged it overnight, added fresh premium gas on top of the old gas (93 grade), added a touch of injector cleaner, and replaced the spark plug. Electronics all work fine and it definitely sounds stronger than before with a good crank “hum” when holding the start button, but still no start. Earlier today I could smell gas after cranking it, but not really anymore. I haven’t drained the old gas yet since I don’t really have a good way to do it at the moment.
Before I take it to a shop, is there any diagnosis that this group can help me come to a conclusion on? Maybe stale fuel/injector issues, fuel pump pressure, flooding, or something else common on Ruckuses that sit this long? Any DIY fix-up tricks/tips would be helpful. I am by no means a mechanic.
*I have the front cover of the bike and all the bolts- this is just the most recent picture I took of it while working on it.
UPDATE: Thank you all! The recommendations of removing + cleaning my carb & jets was the right move. It was able to start. My slow jet was clogged and had to end up using a fishing line to floss it out to be clear again.
My ruckus wont run unless starter fluid is continually sprayed in the back aloft the carb, I've checkered the carb, the valve leash and the air box...maybe i checked something wrong?
Yesterday I installed the airbox delete kit from TRS. Installed the boot and uni filter and rejetted my stock carb with the jets included. When I fired it back up, the idle sounded super rough. Should I have tried stock jets first? Seems like around over half throttle it rides fine. I did play with the mix screw a bit but didnt notice much of a difference in the idle. I’m running stock exhaust which I know isn’t the best option and am also not running a tach yet. No CDI. Anyone able to point me in the right direction? It ran fine before this. It was NOT running stock airbox but was running pod filter directly to carb and stock jets.
Updated to add current jets are 85/38
first question is whether to put on pegs at all? I read somewhere that putting pegs on is dangerous if you lean too far and it hits the road. but I also don’t see myself riding that aggressively
The second question is front? Or back? Or both?
I purchased a used 2019 ruckus, the air box has been deleted, the battery is reading at 9.5 V so I’m going to buy a trickle charger to get it 12, I purchased a polini variator, but my main question is is the GY6 motor swap on Amazon ($350) made by X Pro worth it or should I just save up and get one from either rolling wrench or the rock shop I see this question as a lot and I see mixed opinions on both but for the price on Amazon, I would like to see if anybody out there has done it and if it really made a difference also, if I’m doing an engine swap, I probably wouldn’t need the variator
I'm having a seat customized and I don't know which one looks better lol I'm really digging the alligator skin, but cheeky seats don't do cognac or two-toned so I think I might have to separate the material, I gave them the tobacco as an example as a base for the alligator material as a replacement. I'm also getting a ruck rack with a ruck seat and a matching seat cover to go with it.
Gonna put the original seat back on because the storage space will help.
Add a rear rack and cargo box of some sort.
New belt, plug, oil change, and air filter on the way.
Any tips / advice?
Is it just a bad belt? Or am I looking at something more pricy?
Hello , unfortunately I’m here asking if anyone has a rear swing arm available. I somehow managed to over tighten the bolt for gear oil and broke the internal threading 🫠
How can I prevent wind from tipping over my bike with the cover on? Facing it in the direction of the wind helps, It happened twice in the season...btw this is the only location where my apartment complex allows me to park the bike, would a 20lb dumbbell work on the floor board? Have you guys ever dealt with this? It ripped a hole in the side of the cover and now I have to replace it, it's got a thick 6ft cable lock wrapped around a solid metal pipe where the water drains behind it next to that manhole cover, geo fence, alarm, GPS tracker, steering lock, cover, and an owner with a gun in Texas that sleeps 12ft away from where it's parked. Always locked. Window slightly open for disturbances in the force. Plus it helps me breathe.
Does anyone have any experience ordering from this guy? And has anyone bought the front frame neck covers, and if so can you send pics of what it looks like after installing?
I won this in a giveaway years ago and no longer have my ruckus :/
