Bye Bye Ryoku :(

Bye Bye Ryoku :(

I've been recommending ryoku for 3 months. told all my friends, even put it on my wife's laptop (she's on windows now, honorlock forces it because of her uni).

but i'm out. reasons:

  • ~2 GB used right after boot, nothing open
  • dwm on void is 1.2 GB with firefox running. 650 MB post boot
  • ram clears way faster on void when i close tabs
  • boot is way faster (runit)
  • wifi ui kept breaking up on me
  • kernel compilation got harder with all the gui stuff running in the background

last one was the turning point. i do kernel work, i want the machine out of my way.

To DWM + Void. I've been using i3 for about a decade now. So maybe it's a mindset or idk. But I don't feel alright with UI stuff taking all my resources and not even working at times.
