SGU Questions

Hey everyone! Currently awaiting some decisions from DO schools, and planning on retaking MCAT in January (i have a 495 rn). I have a MS in biomedical sciences and am a first gen, as well as former healthcare worker. My MS has linkage to their DO school with a 501+ MCAT. However, if i cant get higher/no response from any DO schools, I am planning on going to SGU. Pretty much all of my family have gone and so I know the positives and negatives, but I do have some questions! If anyone could help me out with this that’d be greatly appreciated.

  1. How is the Northumbria campus? It does interest me since the class size is smaller and more intimate, I feel like I would perform better in that type of environment (ik its only the first year).

  2. I plan on doing an April start, since I wanna retake MCAT on Jan. How is the April start compared to Jan and Aug?

  3. Is Northumbria worth doing the first year? Or just stick it out in Grenada the entire time?

  4. For the first term, i understand they want you to stay in their dorm. Is this absolutely mandatory, or can I request to live in my own apt?

  5. Are there any scholarships I can take with my current status? How much would they be?

Thank you to everyone and anyone who can help with this journey and decisions! I wish all of you future docs the best 🙏🏼

sgu jan 2027!! any advice / anyone else starting? 🩺💗

hii!! i’m a canadian student starting at sgu in jan 2027 and i’m super excited but also a little nervous lol

i wanted to ask current students if there’s anything you recommend doing before starting term 1. i know everyone says not to pre-study too much, but are there any topics/resources you wish you brushed up on beforehand or anything you wish you knew before starting?

alsooo is anyone else starting in jan 2027?? i’d love to connect and make some friends before moving to grenada!! 💕
