First SKS. Bayonet Attachment?
Just picked up my first Sks. It has the bayonet blade but missing the attachment piece connecting it to the barrel. What is the actual part called for me to search/buy?

Just scored my first Sks for $550 all matching numbers and in amazing condition. I cant believe no one else bid the price up higher. The bolt is a little gritty, but the bore is very shiny and clean. I assume i just need to clean it up and get some oil on it. Anything else I need to know?
Hi all, This is my first post here.
This morning i became a part of the club officially. My sks came in the mail. Chinese type 56 sks with a spiked bayonet.
I am looking for advice regarding the stock/chassis.
I wanna change it. I really dont want to put on ATI stocks/ fab defense ones. I really love wooden stocks. Id wanna stain it myself and clear coat it afterwards.
The only synthetic stock im considering is the choate dragunov stock, but ive heard that they really take away the feel of the sks, and the top arm rest warps on prolonged firing periods.
I dont wanna put a shit ton of attachments on it. Maybe a scope at max in future, maybe. But im considering a bipod.
I see alot of hype about pistol grip conversions and the promags. Can anyone say how it "feels"
Im in the process of cleaning the firearm rn and havent shot it yet.
Any sort of advice regarding stocks would be highly appreciated. (Im in canada)
$400 pick up. Had to heavily bed the stock, trigger group area, etc. bc it was just too wobbly in every direction.
Idk how I feel about the paint scheme that I went with (I'm normally against spray painting my stuff), but the stock was beat anyway. This was my last ditch effort before buying something else.
Next up is a barrel chop, so I can suppress it and probably a Texas trigger.
Also, the Novus PDS-1 is a pretty sick optic option if you were considering it.
Like the title says, I bought my first gun and it was a Yugo M59/66. I spotted it in a pawn shop and couldn't resist being naive. It turns out it was in very rough shape underneath the tapco stock, being full of rust along and inside the back of the reciever. I spent the next few hours cleaning as much of the weird grease and rust off of it as I could. I was told by a friend that the pitting along the side of the reciever is okay as long as I properly oil and maintain it so it will remain well oiled for now.
I already dated everything except the rear cover to be a, numbers matching, '71 production. I could not make out any numbers on the rear cover though as they were completely rusted away. So far its been de-bubba'd and returned to a wood stock, ditching the 20 round magazines for a fixed 10 round. I have since bought a bayonet and plan to replace the handguard with a Khybercustoms "Cheese grater" handguard when it becomes available.
Any suggestions on what to do further with it would be nice and I am glad to be apart of the community now.
I just started restoring one honour guard rifle when another became available for $550 CAD. Couldn’t resist so now I have a second project rifle. Pulled the best parts to throw on the top rifle. Simply changing the Russian stock out for a Chinese one does wonders for it. I’m glad I had a pile of unserialized parts lying around.
Did I do good for 500$ havnt had a sks in over 10 years.. paratrooper... pretty clean over all
Edit. Not para trooper.... it 20.5in barrel not 16.5
I always seen norinco sks with a triangle marking, this one doesn’t have that but looks like a “OBO”
Finally got to take my sks to shoot. And I love it! It’s weird I poor money into an ar15 but I’d rather shoot this 😂.
A seasoned (retired) gunsmith that I worked with years ago and still remain great friends with to this day, promised me an SKS a few years ago. Well, he came by the shop I gunsmith at now to pick up an FFL transfer. He brought the rifle with him today. The overwhelming appreciation I have for this gentleman goes beyond words and I thought I'd share it with all of you.
I’m very unfamiliar with SKS’s but I saw this at my local gun shop and it peaked my interest. Can anyone provide any info?
Finally got my pic mount adapter on to mate up an A3 Industries folding stock on my Tapco body and wanted to show another one-off config. The only thing left is to parkerize the trigger pack, receiver cover pin and gas tube.
Understand that when I purchased this, it was rattle canned army green with an ATI stock, and I only paid $200. Bubba is as bubba does, it functions amazing on this setup.
Pictured is the Russian style SKS stock, I'm test fitting on my Norinco for now. I'm still working on getting a Russian and Yugo SKS for pictures and testing.
Just need to adjust the stock shape a little to work with the surplus buttplates I have and it should be good to go.
I'll also be coming out with Chinese and Yugo variants to accommodate the different bayonet styles.
I'm new here and have read the rules, but this isn't clear to me. Am I allowed to ask where to find some SKS parts? I need two particular parts for my SKS and can't seem to find them anywhere for sale...would love some guidance on this.
Think of doing my own now that I’m apprenticing be a machinist
