This would be my first sks. Its going for 400 even. I dont mind it being a bit beat up and the missing components would be a good opportunity for me to fix things and learn more hands on but I thought I'd leave it to more knowledgeable folks to tell me if Im crazy for taking this on as a newbie. All Im seeing missing is the buttplate and bayonet which seem to be easy fixes

Just got this SKS. When chambering a brass round, it scrapes a big chunk of brass off the casing.
It happens right at the bottom edge of the chamber (circled in blue).
Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it? Thanks!

Any recommendations on getting it lighter without refinishing or is this about as good as it may get?

Got a 299$ yugo sks from rti shoots good the gas valve is just stuck so I cant mess with grenade launcher

I traded a Ruger American ranch in 556 for this sweet sks that takes AK magazines! Plan on getting the original sks stock from luck shot stocks and a badace red dot mount. Its going to be my new deer hunting rifle!

Refinished Albanian stock, which turned out very close to its original color finish. I’m pretty happy with it.
2 low spots on the left side near the top edge would only steam out so much.
Wish the sun and clouds would’ve cooperated a bit more for the pics but…

I’ve got this thing cleaned/ lubed and ready for the range.

1. In this configuration with the duckbill mag if I reload via stripper clip will the bolt come forward automatically after I load the first 10?

2 I have the time and the tools if I shave the bolt to accommodate the duckbill mag/ for closed bolt loading of mag.. will I lose the open on empty bolt function with the original 10rd box mag?

3 I got a screaming deal on this thing it’s from arsenal 306, it’s cool these things have such a history with them!

The two 1970s were imported together. They were sold to the same man. They were purchased together at his estate sale. Though being sold separately, I purchased them to keep the family together. They appear to have never been fired, based on the amount of cosmoline throughout the rifles.

Been working on a couple new models. Underfolder feels pretty sturdy (or about as sturdy as a folding stock gets)

Finally got around to fighting this battle. Tried every puller I had. No good said fuck it and cut it off. Some touch ups on the finish and bam way more better.

Next task will be getting an m14x1 LH tap and threading for a muzzle device.

That said I'd love to hear some recommendations for something that will help with recoil.

The rest of the gun is in almost unformed condition and yet the barrel looks like this I understand it’s not chrome lined cause it’s a 1951 but Danm

Another question is it even safe to shoot

The wood and even the finish are in amazing condition it’s numbers matching and was refinished

My grandfather received this from my great uncle about a decade ago and has since passed, my uncle claimed it was a Russian snipers but I don’t believe that story and I’ve done some research and can’t get a definite answer could you guys help me out?
