Possible Reboot/Remaster?

I'm not really one to get my hopes up when it comes to the SOCOM games. I've seen hundreds of rumors over the years that never seemed to come to fruition. IDK if I'm huffing hopium, but this one feels different to me for some reason. Maybe it's due to the "reliable" source, or the co-CEOs very vague quote on the subject. I feel with the success of tactical shooters like CS2, and the absolute flops recently like Concord and Marathon, I could definitley see Sony going back to basics and banking on nostalgia to secure a few wins.

Google AI:

Sony Interactive Entertainment is actively exploring opportunities to leverage its legacy intellectual property by considering the revival of several long-dormant, classic PlayStation video game franchises. Industry leaders and prominent insiders have recently confirmed that Sony is looking to tap into its deep back catalog to strengthen its software portfolio, moving beyond just its current blockbuster series.

Official Executive Stance

PlayStation co-CEO Hermen Hulst explicitly stated that the company is "continually looking at opportunities to leverage our legacy IP" alongside the development of completely new franchises. This executive focus is aimed at supplementing massive AAA blockbuster releases with smaller to mid-tier projects utilizing older, unused first-party properties.

Current Industry Leaks and Insider Rumors

Fresh industry speculation has strongly backed up these official statements:

The "Deep Cuts" Focus: Prominent industry insider NateTheHate corroborated that there is substantial truth to Sony exploring its unused portfolio, specifically targeting classic eras. He clarified that franchises like Uncharted or Bloodborne are not considered "older" in this context.

Active Projects: Reports from Video Game Chronicle highlight that Sony is quietly working on a couple of smaller games in forgotten franchises that are already in development behind the scenes.

Potential Candidates: While Sony has not officially announced specific titles, the leading names heavily circulated by insiders and highly requested by fans include:

Sly Cooper (supported by original games recently debuting on the PlayStation Store)

Ape Escape (sparked by a featured level in Astro Bot)

I miss this game

I miss this game so much. Mostly socom 2 which was the best IMO. I wish it would get a remake of socom 1+2 similar to THPS 1+2. Now that I'm a PC gamer I would want it on steam tho. So many great memories with this game. From hogging the chat channel to piss people off, to being the last one alive and pulling off the win.

For those on SOCOM HQ

Lets get CA a bit more popular. I miss playing those big maps, I was once pretty highly ranked on CA but sucked at 2. All I have to play online with people is 2, so... Who wants to start some regular games?
