Hello! I’ve been a dramonie only reader for the past 5 years until recently. I’ve been spreading my wings in to other ships and I stumbled across my first SS/HG Desert Rain by Summer2222 (highly recommend it all my time haven’t read anything similar) I have no clue where to go from here lol I was wondering if anyone would be willing to recommend any alternate universe fics they liked with a non typical wizarding world? 🤷🏻‍♀️ honestly it doesn’t have to be an alternate universe fic. I just wouldn’t mind to continue scratching the itch Desert Rain created! Someone just point me in a good direction lol what fics/ authors do you love ?

Re-read it after years.. started reading the author's rewritten chapters on AO3 (love the updates, minor changes), and finished up on FFnet. I saw the author is regularly updating on AO3, but the last new chapter update on FFnet was May 2025 😭😭 Can't wait for the next one

I've been trying to find this Harry Potter SSHG fanfiction for over a month now, and at this point I'm almost completely convinced that it has been deleted from AO3.
I originally read it around last year. It was a long (100k+ words), completed SSHG time travel story.
Since my last posts, I've gone through my entire AO3 reading history, as well as all of my bookmarks. I couldn't find it anywhere. However, I noticed that there is one deleted work from the exact time period when I know I read this fic.
Because of that, I'm now 100% convinced that the fic I'm looking for is the deleted one.
That also means I think the only realistic way to find it now is if someone happened to download it as a PDF, EPUB, or another saved copy.
I also want to clear up two things that have caused confusion.
This fic is 100% NOT Sin & Vice**.** I finally found and reread enough of that story to confirm it. I enjoyed it, and I definitely remember reading it, but it is not the fic I'm searching for.
I also realized that one detail I previously mentioned actually belonged to Sin & Vice: Albus does NOT send Hermione around the world to train under different masters in the fic I'm looking for. I accidentally mixed those two stories together.
It is also definitely NOT Vespertillio.
Below is every single detail I can remember.

Beginning of the story
Hermione comes from a very dark future where Voldemort won (or nearly won) the war.
The story begins with Hermione saying goodbye to an adult Harry before travelling back in time.
She promises Harry that she'll save him when he's a child and give him the life he never
Hermione makes a bargain with Death. Death appears as a male character.
Whenever Hermione changes events too much or breaks the rules of the bargain, she is physically punished with severe pain.
She travels back as an adult, not into her younger body.
She hides her identity using another name and wears an enchanted ring (or something similar) that prevents Dumbledore from recognizing who she really is. Maintaining the disguise is exhausting.

Albus is essentially Hermione's father. She has lived with him since she was so young that she doesn't remember anything from before he took her in.
I'm not completely certain about this part anymore, but I think Hermione might actually be Voldemort's daughter. I vaguely remember Albus taking her from her dying mother. This is the detail I'm least confident about.
When Hermione was young, she and Albus lived together in a house somewhere (I can't remember where).
I remember Albus testing her shortly after bringing her there. When they entered the house, Hermione immediately knew exactly what she was supposed to do—as if she'd already lived there. Something like automatically knowing where to hang her coat or where she was expected to go.
I also remember that Albus had a portrait of Ariana Dumbledore, and it seemed as though Ariana somehow recognized Hermione.
Hermione had a pet snake that she found and rescued when she was very young. Albus wasn't particularly fond of it.

The original timeline
Hermione fought in the war and became much darker and more ruthless than her younger self.
She was captured by Voldemort.
I think Voldemort tried convincing her to betray Albus and join his side, but she refused.
When persuasion failed, he tortured her.
Hermione believed Albus would come to save her.
Instead, she believed he essentially left her there to die.
Severus, however, did not abandon her. I can't remember whether he rescued her personally or gave her his wand so she could escape, but he was the one who saved her.
Hermione was left covered in scars from everything she endured.
She also hunted down and destroyed Voldemort's Horcruxes.

I'm absolutely certain Hermione rescues Harry from the Dursleys when he's around seven or eight years old.
This is actually one of the details I'm most confident about because this is also the first time Hermione receives one of Death's punishments for changing an important event in history.
When Hermione comes to collect Harry, Severus and Albus are both with her.
I remember Albus being against the idea, while Severus still had no idea that he would eventually become one of Harry's guardians.
Hermione explains everything to young Harry and tells him she wants to adopt him.
She asks him to sit on the sofa.
Harry quietly replies that he isn't allowed to sit there because he might make it dirty and because it isn't his place.
That scene deeply affected Severus.
Eventually Hermione and Severus legally adopt Harry and raise him together.

Albus originally asked Severus to get close to Hermione so he could report everything she was planning.
I think that's why Hermione, Severus and Harry ended up living together almost immediately.
Severus slowly notices that Hermione has serious injuries, although he doesn't know where they came from.
I remember one scene where Severus walks into Hermione's room (or bathroom) while she's trying to bandage herself. He offers to help, but she refuses.
Over time, Severus becomes the only person Hermione truly trusts.

Harry eventually becomes friends with Theodore Nott at Hogwarts.
Theo is abused by either his father or possibly his grandfather (I can't remember exactly).
Much later in the story, Theo escapes a particularly brutal beating and runs to Harry and Hermione's home because he knows they'll protect him.

One of the most memorable scenes
Hermione tells Albus that someday she may suddenly need his help, even though he won't understand why. He promises he'll help when that day comes.
Later, she Apparates directly into Dumbledore's chambers exactly as she predicted.
Unfortunately, he isn't alone that evening—he's in a meeting with the Hogwarts professors.
Hermione appears covered in blood, unconscious (or nearly unconscious), and literally dying.
Everyone panics.
At some point—although I can't remember exactly how—everyone present is forced to experience Hermione's memories.
They witness everything she suffered:

Albus's betrayals. Voldemort's torture. Everything the Death Eaters did to her. Her pain and suffering.

The terrible things she herself was forced to do during the war. These memories finally make Albus understand the full truth.
If I remember correctly, this happens very close to the end of the story.

Albus's death
This is another scene I remember incredibly clearly.
In Hermione's original timeline, Albus dies exactly according to a plan that he arranged himself.
He prepared several people for his death.
But he never told Hermione.
After his death, Hermione goes to speak with his portrait.
She's furious, heartbroken and crying.
She tells him that, out of everyone, she should have known.
She tells him that as her father he should never have hidden something like that from her.
She accuses him of caring more about his mission, his plans and "the greater good" than about her—that even his own daughter wasn't important enough for him to trust with the truth.
That confrontation finally makes Albus understand how badly he failed her.
I specifically remember the narration saying that Albus's portrait cried after realizing the mistake he had made.

Another detail I remembered recently:
I'm almost certain Hermione doesn't truly get to know Aberforth Dumbledore until after Albus dies.
The two of them become close because of their shared connection to Albus.
I remember them talking about Albus, the choices he made, and how he hurt both of them in different ways.
I also vaguely remember Aberforth asking Hermione something like:
"How did my brother hurt you?" Or "He hurt you too, didn't he?"

If this sounds familiar to anyone, or if you have an archive of deleted AO3 Harry Potter fics, I would be incredibly grateful if you could check.
At this point I genuinely believe the story is lost unless someone saved it before it was deleted.
Even if you only recognize one of these scenes—especially Harry refusing to sit on the sofa, Hermione confronting Albus's portrait after his death, the professors witnessing her memories, or Hermione and Aberforth bonding after Albus's death—please let me know.
Any help would mean a lot. I've been searching for this fic for over a month now, and I'm not ready to give up.

I've been trying to find an old Snape/Hermione AMV for years, and I'm starting to think it disappeared from the internet.

Here's what I remember:

• The song was "DNA" by Little Mix.
• It was made mostly with movie clips rather than just Harry Potter footage.
• The editor used scenes from other movies starring Alan Rickman, and Hermione's face had been edited onto the actress who was with Rickman in those scenes.
• One specific scene I remember was Snape dragging Harry up/down the stairs in Harry Potter, but Harry's face had been edited to look like Hermione instead.

I watched it years ago on Youtube (probably around 2013–2016, but it could have been uploaded earlier).

Does anyone else remember this AMV or happen to have a link or a copy? I'd love to watch it again—it was one of the best Snamione edits I ever saw.

I'm looking for a Snamione fanfic I read on AO3 a few years ago, but I can't remember the title.

Here's what I remember:

- Hermione is still a Hogwarts student.
- The story takes place before the war (I think).
- Hermione and Snape are magically locked inside Snape's private quarters at Hogwarts.
- The door is enchanted and won't open until a specific time.
- They're attracted to each other but both resist their feelings.
- I think Dumbledore knows they're trapped (or at least doesn't interfere).
- They spend hours together, and just before the door is due to open (I remember about an hour before), they finally give in to their feelings.

I'm not sure whether they were trapped by an accident or a spell.

Does anyone recognize this fic? I've been looking for it everywhere!

I have been writing Curse Bound on AO3, and updates will be fairly frequent before the academic year starts.

I am currently writing Chapter 11 and have found myself facing a small dilemma. In the story, the Grangers have given Severus a birthday gift, and I am unsure what the gift should be. I want it to be thoughtful, but not overly sentimental. Something that feels like it could suit Severus, while also reflecting the strange kindness the Grangers unknowingly show him.

I have also added chapter summaries, so I thought I would share them here in case anyone decides to check the story out.

1.Hermione Granger has reluctantly spent three months curse-bound to Severus Snape, forced into proximity by Voldemort’s magic and Dumbledore’s elusive plan. When the bond causes her to nearly lose control during Potions, they begin to realize the curse may be far more dangerous than either of them anticipated.

2. Hermione awakes in Severus Snape’s chambers, as the curse has once again rendered personal boundaries irrelevant. The morning proceeds with an unexpected discovery: Severus Snape is apparently capable of making pancakes, and equally capable of liberating forbidden texts from the Restricted Section. Yet, beneath the absurdity of breakfast and stolen books, the curse begins to reveal itself as something far darker than forced proximity.

3.The whole castle is under the impression that Remus and Hermione are dating, why, well Severus attributes it to their blithering idiocy. Hermione may agree with Severus that these rumours are preposterous, nonetheless, it does not liberate Hermione’s anger towards Severus' abhorrent communication skills. Subsequently, the curse’s subservient nature has made itself apparent–It does not abide by Hermione’s feelings, nor Severus’ ineptitude.

4.Severus and Hermione reflect upon their flaws. Severus Snape’s protection is built upon solitude; the curse has subsequently removed his fortification. His solemnity has protected him from discovering whether his father's cruelty existed within him. Hermione Granger has a detrimental flaw of perfection, that leads her to believe that perhaps if she achieved the illusion of perfection, she would be able to reduce his hurt.

Dumbledore proceeds to explain the Order’s current mission–Locate and destroy the Horcruxes.

Severus has proven himself capable of doing what must be done to bring the war to an end. He had thereby made peace with his vices; yet, he could not find himself willing to become the antagonist in Hermione Granger’s story.

5. Hermione finds herself apologizing to Remus, as she could not imagine his inflections to the castle believing they were having a not-so-secret affair. The apology renders itself to a halt when Severus Snape is tortured by the Dark Lord–an ordeal Hermione had sought to never subject herself to. Nevertheless, Severus believes the curse has one constant commonality; it would oblige him to show her the true meaning of hurt.

6. Hermione has dropped Severus’ advanced potion class. Severus seeks to find the reasoning. Hermione proclaims that torture should not find itself becoming a normal occurence. Severus contests her reasoning, his torture was merely the expected consequence of being a pawn in war.

7. It was the largest match of the season: Slytherin versus Gryffindor. Evidently, Severus Snape had been forced to attend, despite his desire to spend the day inebriated.

Remus Lupin did not attend, as his mind found itself preoccupied by thoughts of Sirius Black and the twelve years that Sirius had been condemned to Azkaban. Consequently, Remus wondered if perhaps his life required more than meaningless sex to maintain sustainability. He supposed his life could benefit from beauty.

Hermione Granger found herself contentedly watching the match, until it had gone horribly wrong. Severus, in turn, found himself becoming the unlikely answer to the predicament before her.

8. Hermione faces the aftermath of Ron’s predicament, which somehow concerned itself with breaking into Severus’ chambers.

Sirius Black has spent the entirety of his life outrunning a gilded cage. He supposed it was time to stop running, to save Harry Potter, and to find Remus Lupin again. It did not matter if by doing it increased the likelihood of the bars of his cage finding themselves starkly built around him.

9. Hermione confesses to Severus that she desires his survival. Severus believes that the sentiment is futile; he was no more than a carefully crafted pawn for war, and it was senseless to worry over the death of a pawn. Hermione has played chess with Ron; she was aware of a pawn’s significance. One simply had to show kindness first. Perhaps a kiss would suffice.

Harry needed to regain Tom Riddle’s diary, perhaps then he could fathom a universe where he and Draco were not overshadowed by opposing sides of war. Harry had no desire to be the golden boy, just as Draco had never truly desired to take the Dark Mark.

Evidently, war resembles a chess match, with each piece begrudgingly forced to play.

10. Severus finds himself visiting his mother. Severus Snape is not a man who deserves compassion; Tobias Snape’s ghost reminds him of the familiarities of his life, none of which constitute themselves with kindness. Nevertheless, the Grangers have been adamant to show him otherwise. Perhaps, his birthday would signify benevolence this year.

Hermione subsequently acquires a present for Severus Snape’s upcoming birthday.

argh - I don’t know how to fix this one.

I posted a less-inspired, less-weird chapter of my silly crack fic, because it felt overdue. And today I realized I had some fun, absurd, smutty elements I meant to include and forgot about (because I hadn’t checked me notes). 

So I wrote up the funny smutty chunks today and now I don’t know where to put them.

1. If I go back and add them in to the prior chapter (where they fit most naturally), won’t my most dedicated readers miss them entirely? or
2. Do I force them into a new chapter, where they don’t quite fit flow-wise?

Help!

I remember reading this fic where Hermione used an ancient ritual to make herself the chosen one because she wanted Harry to have a better life and grew up again with as the chosen one with memories of her past life. Snape finds out about her past life in her early years of Hogwarts and they become allies. I would lovee to read this again, does anyone has a clue what this fic is?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to find a specific Severus/Hermione fanfiction I read a few years ago. English isn't my first language, so I might be misremembering some details, but here is what I recall:

• Hermione is a Kelpie.

• There is a scene where she tells Snape not to come to the sea, but he goes anyway and eventually gets dragged into the water to drown. He accepts his fate without a fight.

• The most memorable part is the epilogue: it reveals a cycle where Snape has become the Kelpie in the water, and Hermione is now a human on the shore, essentially reversing their roles.

• I also remember a detail about her wearing the same hat and clothes every day, which made her look a bit stuck in time.

I read this a long time ago, likely on AO3 or an older archive. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I’ve been trying to find it for ages and would really appreciate any help!

I'm looking for a fic I read around 2020 on AO3. It's a Hermione time-travel to the Marauders era story.

From what I remember, even James was drawn to Hermione, he found her more interesting than Lily and actually had feelings for her.

Later on, Hermione returns to her original timeline, but somehow she meets young Severus again and they end up sleeping together. The older Professor Snape witnesses it and intervenes, looking shocked and flustered. It seemed like the past and present timelines didn't affect each other in this fic. Afterward, Hermione asks professor Snape what he'd do if she got pregnant.

I never finished it because it was still wip when I randomly clicked on it. I've searched AO3 a few times since, but there are just way too many time-travel fics, so I had no luck. Hope someone here recognizes it and can point me to the right fic!

I have read a lot of wartime fics where Severus and Hermione are in love and in a secret relationship and, when Hermione is put in mortal danger (usually at Malfoy Manor, but not only) and Snape thinks he'll lose her, he considers abandoning his role as a spy to save her - only he never does it, and yeah, we know that in the end Hermione is saved either way. But how could Severus really know that?

Basically, I feel like, if he loved her, he would never risk her life, even for the cause. I don't think he could survive losing her as he lost Lily, especially because Hermione loves him back. So I'm looking for fics where he either gives away his role as spy in order to save her, or sacrifices something else important to the cause in order to save her.

I like both completed and wip recs, as long as the wips don't seem abandoned.
