Any repair places in the Netherlands?

Was wondering if there are any places to service/ repair a dupont lighter? Sent mine in to dupont twice for servicing and all they did was clean it without fixing the problems.

This took about 3months and i don't feel like sending it in again.

Update: l Bought It!

l finally went back to that pawn shop and pulled the trigger on this beaut.

Now l finally got some time to take some up close pics of it and do a little research on it.

l found the same lighter for sale online from two different fake websites. The one listed here has the "Made In France" marking that looks significantly different than mine meanwhile this one which l know is also a scam website but l assume uses real stock photos has the "Made In France" marking that looks very comparable to mine.

Anyone able to help he authenticate it any further? l know my pics look bad and you can see some pretty significant scratches, but l did manage to get a photo of the underside of the gas cap which is yellow.

Want to get monogram badge off of line 1

This line 1 windsor has a brass badge adhered to it, i assume line 1s were cheaper in their time relatively.

Ive removed these things before on older ronson lighters (or they just fell off when bolt breaking the fuel cap) and I am wondering if anyone has a better idea than my plan, or if they have tweaks or suggestions.

My supposition is its held on with some kind of strong glue since thats what ive encountered with other ones, if its solder the lacquer is cooked but it already needs a bit of restoration on the sides so maybe thats not as big of a deal im thinking. Based on when i think this particular one probably came out its going to be some kind of glue.

My idea is to get the base metal very cold, probably using butane, while using a heat gun to get it warm then butane spray the body and use a soldering iron on the badge to get as much thermal expansion on the badge and as much thermal contraction on the body as possible.

Once that is achieved ive got a very powerful aquarium air pump to really just shake the bejesus out of it which i sort of discovered lately is super useful for a few other difficult tasks that nobody seems to have thought of using it for.

Is this a stupid plan?44

Max amount for this?

Hi! Wondering how much can I pay for this version, I think it's authentic.

I was thinking to offer 50$

Pulled the trigger on it

It works well but a bit dirty, I'm going to clean it and give it a full overhaul. I bought it because it was a good deal but I honestly can't see myself using it, I think I might try to find someone that wants to trade me for a table lighter... Regardless it's a stunning piece!

On FB Marketplace for $100

Is legit and worth it? Don’t know much about lighters, but know STDupont is reputable. Should I pick it up or pass?

Second empire replica?

Hi everyone here I am again needing your expertise. Is this a real second empire limited edition or a replica? Brochure shows that the second empire editions are either red/gold witg rubies or black/silver with diamonds so I feel like this is a fake... unless there are later models but it would defeat the point of LE...

Legit Dupont design?

This popped on an auction and these are the pics they showed, the serial was sent by email after my request hence the terrible size. Could this be a legit one? Ive seen the exact one with the 4FK serial on some sites. Thanks in advance!

S.T. Dupont Andy Warhol Elvis Presley 1964 Limited Edition — Real or Fake? What's it worth without box/papers?

Hey everyone,
I came across this S.T. Dupont Andy Warhol Limited Edition lighter (Elvis Presley 1964, no. xx/1964) being sold for €500. No box, no papers — just the lighter itself, described as being in good condition.
It does work (flame visible), the Elvis double portrait on the front looks correct, and the Warhol quote + signature on the back are present. The base reads “S.T. Dupont pl PARIS MADE IN FRANCE” with a serial number.
Things I’m unsure about:
• €500 without papers feels high — boxed examples go for €400–700 at auction
• No way to verify the serial number myself
• I know generic Ligne 2 fakes exist with Warhol decals
My questions:

  1. Does anyone have experience authenticating this specific model?
  2. Are there known fakes of the Elvis Warhol Dupont?
  3. What would you pay for this without box/papers, assuming it’s genuine?
  4. Photos attached. Any help appreciated 🙏

UPDATE:
The seller just sent me the following pictures wich I‘ve asked for. Do you think it‘s safe to buy? (See comments)

Shiny!

Thanks to Pale_Salamander3626 who previously posted about polishing a lighter, I purchased a pack of the Quixx scratch remover kit and had at it for about 30 minutes on this Ligne 2 I had purchased as a fixer upper project. The before (first) photo doesn’t really shows the true condition but the lighter definitely looked like it had spent its life in someone’s pocket along with their keys and loose change. The lacquer was scratched up and dull. After some elbow grease there is a marked improvement and although the deeper marks are still there it’s got a lovely deep shine now.

Issue with adjusting my Dupont lighter

Hello everyone,

I’m having a problem with my Dupont lighter. I inherited it from my mother, and it hadn’t been used for quite some time.

When I tried using it again, I briefly managed to get a small flame that worked well enough. After that, it ran out of gas, so I refilled it. Since then, the flame barely lights at all, and when it does, it’s extremely small and goes out at the slightest movement or bit of wind, even though the flame adjustment is set to maximum.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

Thanks a lot in advance.
