Para ser honesto, ni siquiera recuerdo por qué terminé leyendo la novela, pero cuando lo hice, fue sin ningún contexto ni expectativas.

Al principio, Luo Binghe, como la mayoría, me gustaba. Fue después de su regreso del abismo, y especialmente después de la autodestrucción de SQQ, que Luo Binghe empezó a darme escalofríos.

Recapitulemos: cuando empiezas a leer y no tienes toda la información, podrías pensar que:

LBH fue responsable de incriminar a SQQ en la ciudad de Jinlan. LBH fue responsable del asesinato de Gongyi Xiao. LBH le está haciendo cosas raras al cadáver de SQQ. Y solo menciono lo que resultó NO ser cierto, porque Luo Binghe hizo un montón de cosas que no ayudaron a su reputación a lo largo de la novela.

Lo del cadáver fue lo que más me inquietó, de verdad me lo creí. En mi defensa, Luo Binghe no actuaba muy diferente de un protagonista genérico de romance oscuro.

Pero siempre veo gente diciendo: "Uuuh, a veces olvidamos lo aterrador que puede ser LBH 🥺" y luego citan la escena donde TLJ le dice a SQQ que LBH siempre está detrás de él como ejemplo.

Es como, querido amigo, se pasó TODA la novela siendo aterrador. No puedo ser la única 💔

I have seen a lot of people say that SVSSS is a very peaceful, unproblematic fandom, lacking a lot of the drama you see in many other fandom spaces, and I've been thinking about why that is.

First, the meta -- I think because SVSSS is such a meta story, people don't take things so seriously and even may have a bit more self awareness when it comes to the fandom environment. And any hateful takes can be easily shut down by calling the person Cucumber. That kind of response doesn't attack the person who made a bad take, but it doesn't encourage them either, so these toxic discourses have a lot of trouble gaining traction.

I also think that despite English speaking danmei and SVSSS readers not necessarily having the cultural background to understand everything in the meta, we tend to already have a background in fandom culture before going into this story. I think a lot of people who get into danmei were probably already into things like anime, webcomics, fanfiction, BL etc.... and that understanding primes us to be able to understand and appreciate a story like SVSSS. I think this greatly reduces the discourse around "reading comprehension" and the interpretation of the story. Basically, we're all already on the same page.

Finally, I think the size of this fandom is juuuust right. It's big enough to still have a decent stream of fan content (unlike some other less popular danmeis) but unlike TGCF and MDZS, we don't have so many newbies who may be less familiar with fandom etiquette. I think we are less likely to take our fandom for granted, so when people see SVSSS fan content, people are really supportive. Ultimately, I feel like SVSSS is a fandom that attracts people who have been in fandom for a long time. At least, that's what it is for me. I love you guys!

Everyone has their own reasons to like one book or another. For some particular reason, within danmei, Scum Villain became my favorite book and it's for reasons I probably never expected as a reader. Is it the best novel I've read? No. Does the world feel complete? No. It's certainly not perfect and it can be a bit lacking in storytelling, but above all, I think what really had me love this book is how the book looks both simple and complex. It has a lot of comedy but is also filled with tragedies underneath. It's quite easy to overlook Scum Villain and has been considered as one of MXTX's weakest work, but I find that it's in fact one of her best works. Each major character serves their purpose within the context of Scum Villain and their main leads are especially irreplaceable, because without them, we wouldn't ever have the story we read today. PIDW is LBH's story and the book proves that because he is the protagonist, he dictates the direction of the story, the fate of the world (it's no wonder why the System can only function when LBH is around). It's frankly rare to me to see that the protagonist originating from one book still keeps the importance of his status of protagonist even in the MC's new reality. Usually, I see that the protagonist's importance fades or takes a different role from what it was originally meant to be. SY as SQQ is also such an important aspect in PIDW because he's the only person who manages to bring peace and harmony, which affects LBH and his environment, despite his restrictions. It's honestly such a well crafted story imo.

Scum Villain still has its own flaws, such as how incomplete the story felt to me upon reading, but I think it's precisely due to how incomplete it may felt that I actually liked it. Maybe it's because I also like writing as a hobby, but it's a lot of fun to work with Scum Villain's setting to imagine all sorts of scenarios, trying to paint something to fill in the blanks myself. It allows for countless possibilities of fanfics and I think it's one of the fandoms where I could really get to read some of the best fanfics there exist, compared to other fandoms

Not in a bad way, since I think he's an interesting character. It's just that, for a posthumous character who we only "meet" through relatively small flashbacks, secondhand accounts, and extras after the main story, he's perhaps among the most popular characters of the novel. It's not rare to see him mentioned in discussions, negatively or positively, humourously or seriously, it's also not super rare to have readers say he's one of their favourite characters, and he's featured in a lot of fanworks (both fanart and fanfiction). I'm not quite sure what point I'm trying to make--just to repeat the title, I just find it interesting how fairly popular of a character he is for the actual amount of screentime he has.
