Recommended Fic Release Method

I am looking into what people recommend as a release method for their Fics, specifically whether it is better to release it all at once, or stagger the chapter release.

I have so far posted 2 Star Wars Fics on AO3, and I noticed that both times there was a pattern to peoples interaction with those Fics when I released the entire thing all at once. For the first week or so, there would be a steady stream of Hits, Kudos and Comments, but then they would dramatically die off, and they would go from getting several Kudos a day to maybe one a week. That made me wonder if perhaps releasing a Fic all at once isn't the best method.

Now, I'm asking because while yes, I enjoy the feeling of numbers going up, but I also want to reach as many people as possible with my Fics so that they can be enjoyed, which is why I'm looking for a perhaps more optimal release method.

What does everyone think, is there a release method that tends to result in more people finding your Fic, or is it just how these things go?

Any 'good sith' fanfics

The sith code doesn't necessarily require emotions like anger, only 'passion' or (i think) strong emotions generally pushing one to the goal of absolute self freedom.

Are there any fanfics which do have sith being good and using other strong emotions to gain their freedom and do good things with it out of choice.

Apologies if not the most clear.

Racing Ahsoka S2

Is anyone else writing something that is currently canon compliant but that they suspect won't be canon compliant by the time Ahsoka season two comes out, and so is racing to finish before the end of the year?

I have a fanfic that is going to take place, in part, on Peridea and involve the World Between Worlds and Force Ghost Anakin, and I feel like I don't have much time before people are confused by what I have written.

Luke/Leia time travel to prequels

I remember reading this a while ago but can't find it anywhere, was on AO3.

What I remember:

- Luke and Leia and possibly more people time travel to the clone wars era

- Leia is in a Senate session and there's an attack, either she's specifically targeted or they just end up targeting her once they're there, and Luke turns up and he's not happy about that

- Everyone's worried about how Leia will react but someone says it's not her they should be worried about and Luke comes crashing through the window or something

- I'm pretty sure that's the first time Luke actually appears in the fic but may be wrong

That's the only scene I can say for sure is in it, I've read others similar so don't want to say anything else in case I'm mixing them up

Sorry I know it's not much, but I've looked for it multiple times and can never find it again and it's really annoying me at this point, thought I'd ask on the off chance anyone recognises it

How do you handle swearing in your fics?

Hey everyone! New Star Wars writer here. I was wondering how yall handle swearing in your stories. Like wookiepedia has a long list of in universe swears and insults. However sometimes I write a scene and cringe at the word Kriff.

Do y’all eventually get used to it? Or are non Star Wars swears generally welcome in fics?

Clone Wars Era Time Travel Fics Recs Please

What the title says. I’m looking for time travel fics set during the Clone Wars. Can be Jedis, clones, someone else, doesn’t really matter. Romance is a bonus, but not necessary.

Looking for military scifi style recs

Looking for recommendations with heavy focus on military fighting, not just Jedi/Sith dueling. Huge space battles, army engagements. Any era in the galaxy, Old Republic through First Order. The bigger the better. Stories with an emphasis on the WAR in Star Wars.

How do I write war/battle stuff for my fic? 😭🙏

Okay, I’ll try to make this quick, but I need some help. A quick summary/background: I’m making a story (one that I’m way too invested in) set in the Star Wars universe and canon, with the cast being my own characters; around a third of the story takes place during the Clone Wars.

I’m probably overthinking, but I’m getting kinda overwhelmed trying to figure out what I need to know and do in order to write the story during the active war well. I’ve done a little research on my own and keep finding out that there’s even more that I probably need to know. I have my main clone oc (and his squad and some others) transfer to a kind of stealth and/or recon team working closely with a Jedi; how specific do I need to get with what position/rank they’re all in? I’ve been looking at the jobs of real life recon teams, but how closely does that relate to Star Wars? How much room do I have to be vague about their exact purpose in the Republic Army? Would the GAR just already have teams to do this, or would they be able to give some clones more specific training to fill in a gap that they need? How much would the clones already know about stealth and recon? What do I need to know about the relationships between different ranks and how they interact with each other? And don’t even get me started on the actual battle scenes! I honestly just need some tips on how to write these, but also, how do I make my characters stand out to the readers without them standing out and causing trouble in the actual battle? How much description should I use? Do I need to keep formations in mind? How would I even know the formations? How do I make the scene interesting and still somewhat realistic? How do I make sure the scene is long enough without dragging it on, but not so short that it feels rushed or lazily cut off?

How much do I need to know about the workings of the real army in order to proficiently write it in my story?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Sorry for the long post; I’m probably doing too much for a Star Wars fanfiction, but I absolutely love my characters and their story, so I wanna make sure I can write it well. Thanks! 😊❤️

Can anyone recommend some good websites for Mando’a

I used to use this great website that not only had the words translated, but also phrases. It had things like Jaster Mereel’s supercodex and a bunch of other Mandalorian phrases. Unfortunately the website is now removed and I never saved any of it into a google doc.

I’m kind of at a loss to where I’m supposed to go now for translations. I know there are some websites that just give the meanings for words, but I would appreciate like actual sentences if that makes sense.

Anakin learns earlier and has a different reaction to the truth of Palpatine

In most fics where Anakin learns during the Clone Wars that Palpatine is the Sith Master, his immediate reaction is "that can't be true" and/or "but he's so nice", but I once read a fic where after the initial reaction he realizes "oh, Palpatine was like the dangerous slavemasters my mother warned me about where they treat their slaves well so they don't think of themselves as slaves and so don't even try to leave their masters despite their chains," and so now I'm wondering if there's any more fics like that? Where Anakin either realizes on his own that Palpatine is grooming him, or upon being told by someone else he realizes what Palpatine's strategy of 'nice' slavemaster was?

Fanfic hunting

Might be a weird ask, but does anyone have any fanfic recommendations that have to do with the star wars characters and is aviation related? like an aviation au basically. i don’t mind any pairings (fingers crossed for stormpilot) but yeah.

I’m looking for anything at this point but preferable if it’s got many many chapters and/or is still being updated. Thanks!

Mandalorian fic recs?

(Seeking recs) It’s so hard to find good mandalorian fan fictions. Hopefully with the new movie people have started writing again. Just to narrow down what I’m looking for, I don’t like when authors use y/n, I’m pretty picky when comes to writing, if it’s not very good I can’t get myself to go past the first chapter even if the plot is somewhat good. I’m only interested in longer fics, at least 20 chapters, it’s okay if it’s still being updated. Not looking for anything DinxLuke. I really enjoyed Beskar Doll and Best kept secret on ao3. Anything like those would be PERFECT.

[Fanfic Rec] What if a crossover empire built a sci-fi tech tree in Endor before Naboo? (Featuring planet-slingshot cannons, Mass Effect Omni-tools, and StarCraft commanders!)

I've been reading an amazingly detailed and ambitious Star Wars crossover fanfiction lately, and I just had to share its premise and one of its most insane battle scenes with you all!

The Premise: Multi-Sci-Fi Tech Tree Pre-Naboo

The story starts years before the Naboo Crisis. The protagonist lands in the Endor System and secretly builds up an empire ("The Fourth Civilization" / Dawn Principality).

Instead of relying solely on Star Wars tech, he fuses multiple legendary sci-fi universes into his faction:

  • StarCraft: Tactical commanders (like Admiral Matt Horner), Yamato Cannons, Archon-class carriers with swarm drones, and Ghost operatives.
  • Mass Effect: N7 heavy combat armor, Omni-Tools with hard-light shields/blades, and dark energy physics.
  • Resident Evil & Bio-Tech: T-Virus genetic augmentations, controlled biological weapons (like mutated Indorian "Avengers"), and mind-transferred immortal clone bodies.
  • EVE Online & Sins of a Solar Empire: Titan-class warship yards, Kol-class battlecruisers, and planet-cracking heavy artillery.

Scene Highlight: The Battle of Yago'Dur (Using a Planet as a Bullet)

To give you a taste of how hard-sci-fi and chaotic this fic gets, here is a breakdown of a recent major engagement where the Fourth Civilization fights the Republic's 20th Fleet (commanded by Gideon Tarkin, Wilhuff Tarkin's relative):

1. Celestial Physics Warfare: The 11,000 km Kinetic Bullet

Yago'Dur is a chaotic three-body star system. Native Given mathematicians and Fourth Civ strategists calculate the resonance of planetary gravity waves. They use a gravity slingshot to fling the entire planet Yago'Dur (11,000 km in diameter) directly at the Republic Fleet at a staggering 500 km/s! The Republic fleet is thrown into absolute panic as an entire planet zooms past them at close range, obliterating their formations with chaotic gravitational shear and radiation.

2. "Surfing" the Gravity Wave

Admiral Matt Horner doesn't just watch—he uses precise mathematical algorithms to lock his 50-ship fleet onto the planet’s gravity curve, riding the planetary wave at hyper-velocity straight into the chaotic center of the scattered Republic fleet.

3. Brutal Mass Effect & Bio-Tech Boarding Operations

With shield networks disrupted, Matt Horner launches a mass boarding assault using assault landing craft:

  • T-Virus Mutated Indorians: Hulking biological beasts infected with T-virus, carrying B-1 droids on their shoulders providing suppressive fire, charging through Republic Venator hangars.
  • The 4th Corps (N7 & Omni-Tools): Elite shock troops wearing N7 armor led by Commander Justin Reeves (who ironically rocks a pink bunny plushie on his belt). They deploy Mass Effect Omni-tools to project hard-light shields and energy blades, slicing through Clone Trooper squads, slicing open blast doors, and seizing a 1,600m Knight-class Star Destroyer from the inside in under 20 minutes without a single casualty!

P.S. How I'm reading this: I actually stumbled upon this story by pure chance through an English translation snippet, which led me to track down the original webnovel. It's an absolute behemoth—currently sitting at over 7 million words and still updating! Since the original is entirely in Chinese, I literally have to copy and paste each chapter into Gemini just to translate and read it. It's definitely a bit of a hassle, but the sheer level of hard-sci-fi detail and worldbuilding makes every single extra step 100% worth it.

The Most Unique and well written stories, give me your recommendations for the best of the best.

I need new stories to read, give me your best and I will give you a digital cookie. My only request is no sequel era stuff, not a fan of the sequels... reasons jedi Finn didn't happen, and Luke’s death made no sense. I will accept stories that explore them better then the films, but no romance, or weird shit, and it needs to be completed or still getting updates no abandoned works.

Extra points to naval or military drama like band of brothers or Hornblower. Will take earth stories if not trash.

What are your Jedi ocs like??

I’m in the middle of writing a fic that would “explain“ why Barris fell a bit more but I feel like I’m making the main Jedi antagonist too edgy 😢 so what are your jedis like?

Novel Length Fic Recommendations?

Hello!

I am looking for either a standalone or a series in either Canon or Legends/EU (or both mixed) that is long and preferably completed!

This can be a canon divergence, a fan continuation of a series, a fan-made sequel, or literally anything. It can have only OCs or none at all. Idc.

I just want Star Wars Novels! I want quality! Something that could legit be on a bookshelf. Jedi, Sith, Troopers, Pilots—anything!!

Collaborating on fanfiction?

I'm not too sure if posts like these are allowed, but for a while I have been seriously contemplating the idea of rewriting the sequel trilogy as I find that kind of thing to be quite theraputic especially when the content we got does not satisfy me at all (no hate if anyone here liked it tho).

However, I have so many ideas and concepts and so I was wondering, would anybody here be interested in collaborating? Perhaps anyway who is doing their own rewrite, and we could exchange thoughts, criticisms, and ideas, or if anybody would like to work on one rewrite together. If anybody is interested in joining me on this passion project, please DM me or leave a comment.
