Match Thread: Watford v Saints

Match thread bot permanently retired! Poor thing.

That means match threads will have to be manual, but does mean they can be posted earlier than 5 minutes before the game starts.

Has anyone tried using Paramount + and a VPN to watch the Championship?

It looks like Paramount has all Championship games this year in America and only costs £9.99 a month. Is anyone using that with a VPN? It’s through CBS so are there any annoying American commentators?

Saints Play (International Streaming) - How is the experience?

International fans, can anyone who bought the Saints Play subscription (180 GBP) share what their experience is like? Where I am, we can only get select games on DAZN and it is so frustrating for 40/month. Was it worth it?

If you are a foreign Saints fan, what made you choose to support Southampton?

I'll start off, i was born and raised here in the Philippines. I Started watching football relatively late at around 12, originally i supported Real Madrid since i loved Gareth Bale. But as i was looking up his background/former clubs i was Southampton, sounded interesting enough and after knowing a little about the club, decided to look up some of their club legends or, OUR club legend, Matt Le Tissier's highlights. He made the game look so easy and effortless, that was exactly when i decided to become a Southampton fan, and ill never forget it.

Southampton reject €20m offer from Benfica for Taylor Harwood-Bellis

Benfica have seen an offer of €20million (£17m) for defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis rejected by Southampton.

The Championship club are open to a sale of the 24-year-old if their valuation is met with Benfica’s new head coach Marco Silva a big admirer.

Harwood-Bellis is keen on the possibility of the move if a deal between the two clubs can be struck.

Seen a video of Leo Scienza telling fans he is staying. Am I delusional, or is this confirmed at this point?

Seems crazy for him to lie to fans' faces. We also gave him the number 7 shirt. Surely he's staying, right?

What do we still need?

Ideally we get rid of all of the following:

Permanent: Ramsdale, Bazunu, BBD, Sugawara

Loan: Downs

If this happens, we clearly need a 2nd choice goalkeeper, or do we consider keeping Baz as backup?

I think our main priority, even if we don't manage to shift BBD and Downs out (as they're clearly not good enough) is a 3rd striker. I'm excited about Mubama but he is raw / unproven and that's risky if Larin gets injured. Would love us to invest some of the Charles funds into another striker or get another one on loan - perhaps Furo (Brentford) or Kusi-Asare (Fulham) may be available with both not expected to get too many minutes this year? Maybe even Guiu, though he's been linked with Prem sides - surely a lot of games in the Championship is better for him/Chelsea that being a bit part player in the Prem.

In centre mid, despite Charles' departure, I think we're relatively well stocked with Jander and Downes + Bragg stepping up when required. Matsuki (though I prefer him out wide), Akachukwu can add depth too. That said, wouldn't say no to a JWP return if that's feasible.

Still quite a lot to do, mostly iro outgoings but hopefully we can get some smart business done in the next few weeks.
