I'm moving to SC for 2 years. Does 175k per year still make sense for a family of 3?
Hi everyone!
My family and I are moving to San Clemente in November. We've never visited the US before, so this will be our first experience. My wife and I are almost 40 years old, and we have a 4-year-old daughter whom I intend to enroll in school to learn English during this time.
I'm a software engineer working remotely for a company in Irvine, where I've been for 5 years and hold a leadership position, meaning my job is a bit more secure than average due to my tenure and my relationship with the owners. As you can see, I'm not starting my life here; I'm just taking advantage of the visa sponsorship to give my daughter better opportunities, just as my mother did for me when she took the time to enroll me in an English school in my home country (Latin America). The visa is valid for 2 years, which should be enough time for my daughter to learn.
In my home country, I have everything: a beachfront house with good waves for surfing, family studying at the best schools and eating well, etc. So what I'd like to know is: Is it possible to live well in San Clemente with this compensation? Considering that I work remotely and won't have to go to the office every day, and with health insurance for the family included., my daughter will study at a public school, and we always save money, don't go out much, and have a surfer lifestyle.
Thank you for the help in advance!
EDIT: I know I won't have the same standard of living I have now. For me, living well means being able to surf every day, eat well, and go out to eat once or twice a week. I just want to know if I can live reasonably well in these next two years.
