Enclosure size for female

So, pet store lied to us a lot. I informed them I had a 30 gal breeder tank at home and they said it’d be okay. She’s been in there for a month now and… I’m not vibing with it. I feel like it’s too small. So I’ll be ordering her a dubia tank ( it’s what I use for my skink and I really like them ). But what size should I go with ? I was looking at the 60 gal or should I go bigger or is the 60 too big lol

Rescued a KSB

This is Sandy diving into her new home for the first time. She's about 1 year old.

Any tips on her enclosure?

Curious

Still a baby at 38 grams, I just wanted to share how happy I am with her development. Had her at 11 grams in January.

I was surrendered a sand boa and I need some help!

Hello all!

So we rescued a KSB and she’s about 5 years old and quite big. My fiancée and her dad used to keep and breed snakes but I’m kind of a control freak when it comes to my animals so I want to learn and do everything right!

So, I have already ordered a thermostat, a hydrometer, and a smart surge protector. As well as yesterday I bought some organic topsoil and play sand. I still need to buy reptile clay and more enrichment due to her enclosure being bare.

So, my main questions are:

What kind of heat lamp and bulb should I get? ( the lighting it came with is a huge box with lights and covers most of the top )

How do I properly clean the sand and top soil before putting it in the tank?

She is in a 40 gal (fish tank) and since she is so large I would like to upgrade her plus be able to give her deep substrate. Any recommendations?

Any other advice would be appreciated! She is my first ever snake! Thank you:)))

Unearth or no

I got my first snake a ksb about a month ago he’s had 2 meals prior to being in his forever enclosure it was time to feed him and I’m unsure if I should dig him out and feed him or let him adjust I’m nervous it’ll add more unnecessary stress

Strangely affectionate?

Does anyone else have a sand boa that's weirdly chill and seems to actually enjoy being handled? My girl Julie is so calm when I get her out for quality time. I'm not totally surprised; she was her breeder's favorite and got handled a lot before I brought her home. But everything I've seen about sand boas makes me think this is highly unusual. I put together a little sandbox for enrichment for her, and the last time I put her in it (she loves it, she seems to really relish having a different texture and weight to dig through), I sat down next to the box to do other stuff and after having some fun in the sand she climbed out into my lap and curled up like a cat. The other day she crawled into my breast pocket and fell asleep. I can pet her like a dog. When she's not basking in the open, she's got her little head poked up out of the dirt, watching me. Anybody have similarly-personable sand boa?

Got an abandoned Sand boa. Can anyone help me sex it?

Hi! So as the title says, I got a Kenyan sand boa who was abandoned with 2 other snakes in one enclosure (yes 3 snakes in one enclosure) in a high school classroom. The teacher that left them moved away after the end of the last school year… so they didn’t have care or food it seems for multiple months. One of the science teachers took two of the snakes and I took this one (which I’ve named Snoodle) this little one weighs ~38 grams and has stuck shed on it:( I tried looking at pictures of male vs females and I’m leaning towards female due to the shape, but I thought I’d ask here.
Snoodle is currently set up in a quarantine enclosure away from my other snakes and is on paper towels.

My 9mo girl Pyra above surface!

She’s been coming above ground more and more and has actually climbed just a little!❤️ she also prefers to fully bask right after eating on her cork which is exactly where she was headed I’m sure😂

Is my ksb fat?

I haven't posted Bellatrix in a long time. She's doing good... Possibly too good.

She had a pretty big growth spurt a couple months ago and acted like she was starving every 2 days. I bumped her up from fuzzy to hoppers. Today she was out sitting and I noticed she kinda has a double chin.

Is she fat? I thought she was normal, but idk. I almost feel terrible at the thought of putting her off food because around every 7-10 days when she's hungry she is HUNGRY. she went from being really shy and not wanting to come out, to actively hunting and reacting to any sounds knowing it might be her next meal.

I'm mainly just trying to keep her healthy. I figured she may just be a lil chubby and will grow into her weight. She's about 14 inches or so now. Maybe a fair but longer. I haven't measured her since I got her almost a year ago.

She kinda slowed down a little initially once she got moved to hoppers, but she's picking up again. Maybe she's gonna prove to be a big girl when she's an adult? Not too sure. Any input is appreciated.

I would image husbandry wouldn't cause this, but just in case, she's currently in a 36x12x12, humidity is 50%, her hot side is 94F, and her other side is room temperature.

She has plenty of hides, plants, and branches. Currently on a sand soil mix.

is this 40 watt CHE okay to use with this enclosure? feel like it needs stronger?

TLDR: 40 watt CHE doesn’t seem like it’s getting hot enough, should i get a stronger watt? it hasn’t gotten above 75° F just yet. been a couple hours.

hey all! i rescued a KSB a little while ago. he came in a super tiny enclosure, but he’s a super smol guy! (23g) there was a tiny heating pad that came with his small enclosure. today i went to the exotic pet store and upgraded his enclosure, i wasn’t sure what was better CHE or heating pad because i hear so many mixed opinions online, but the worker recommended CHE. (i also felt like his small heating pad was not doing enough since my house is freezing always, and the girl we rescued him from said she didn’t even use a thermometer because the room she had him in was always hot)
i asked him what watt and he said 40, i’ve had it plugged in for a couple hours but the highest it’s been is 74° F.
i will attach pics of his setup below. i will take suggestions of course, i feel like there’s always something to learn to better take care of my babies! please no mean comments, im still learning a lot and will happily take advice! i know he probably needs more greenery and clutter, im getting that on my next day off and more substrate; i know it should be deeper! i ran out of substrate while setting this up and the exotic store is closed right now so don’t worry i will get him more!

should i get a stronger watt? i totally trust this exotic store but i feel like my house is just so cold that it doesn’t get too warm!

Male or female?

Was told she was a female off morph market, she was born a year ago and is 12 inches long and 40 grams, I feel like that’s a bit small for a female but lmk what you guys think.

Won’t eat and refused food again

Hey I need some help from everyone for the past 4ish weeks my snake has not eaten last thing she ate was a hopper and is definitely big enough to eat them so we moved her back down to pinkies and still refuses to eat, nothing has changed in her inviroment and nothing has changed in the room (above minimum temp and below max temp at hottest) she has definitely been going through he water bowl cause the entirety of the substrate is moist is there anything I could do or doing wrong maybe? If this keeps up and I can’t find a solution I’m afraid I’ll end up having to give her up because she just will not eat and I’m worried it’s just me I do not want her to starve herself

Future KSB mom

This would be my first snake and I’m interested in getting an albino male. The three breeders I’m looking at on Morph Market are in Florida. Is it safe/reliable to ship a snake across the country? Has anyone had any negative experiences with this or behavioral/trauma issues from a shipped snake. I’m in California. Should I wait and get one in person at the next reptile show near me instead? Also want to confirm - I should look for a juvenile, subadult or adult as a first time owner and not a baby, right? TIA!
