Ontario and Alberta governments announce proposed west-east pipeline ending in Sarnia.

The route would remain entirely within Canada and would be built using Canadian steel. Hopefully if built it will reduce dependency on Line 5 that runs through America. IMHO, a pipeline that supplies 55% of Ontario’s crude oil and 100% of jet fuel to Toronto Pearson Airport should be entirely in Canada.

I can find ice hockey leagues, but does Sarnia not have a men’s league for normal ball hockey (shoes or even rollerblades)

I’m 40 and new to Sarnia.

I’ve always joined men’s hockey leagues as they are fun and I do enjoy slightly competitive but also fun. Anything in town?

I’ll drive back and forth to London if needed but would much rather do local option.

Intersections with blinking red and yellow

Just a friendly reminder that an intersection that has one way blinking yellow and the other blinking red IS NOT to be treated as a 4 way stop. The direction with the blinking yellow has the right of way and the direction with flashing red has to stay stopped until there is no traffic moving through the yellow way. Way too many people treat this like a 4 way stop

How Accepting is Sarnia/Bright's Grove Towards Femboys?

So, as of September of last year, I figured out that I’m a femboy and bisexual. For those of you who don’t know what a femboy is, here is an article:https://lgbtqia.wiki/wiki/Femboy.

I’ve been expressing myself this way only inside my house because I don’t feel comfortable going out in public. I’m friends with people who are very homophobic—specifically some Baptist Conservatives (not that all are, though). However, I’m moving soon, so I’m thinking about wearing these clothes in public. Here is why: this might sound stupid to some of you, but I get genuine discomfort and anxiety presenting myself masculinely. I just want to be a feminine guy; that’s who I am.

What I’m worried about is getting yelled at, harassed, or beaten up. I’m coming here just to get a feel for the public opinion on femboys in Sarnia, and especially The Grove, since that’s where I am.

On a side note: if you are in any way homophobic, while that is unfortunate, please don’t leave some unhinged comment in all caps about how horrible of a person I am just because you think I’d look 'weird.

Sarnia exceeds provincial housing target sixfold, but affordability crisis persists

This is a great article to help understand greed and shady realators and how it works to keep things unaffordable for first time buyers who don't want crap..Sarnia is one of the worst for this

Does the Duc cross the border at any point during its events

This might sound like a stupid question to everyone else, but I’m new to the city and I just wanted to know if they ever cross into the states side of the border at any point during their cruises and parties

From Sarnia to London, the canaries are dying: The true cost of frontline grief

When an economic system treats human compassion as a disposable resource, the people protecting our most vulnerable neighbours begin to break. We are witnessing the devastating collateral damage of modern capitalism.

How organized people in Sarnia are fighting back

In this column I examine how political and corporate power uses the legal system to intimidate and exhaust working people in Sarnia. Organized communities can sometimes turn those tools back, but in the end real protection requires us building collective capacity beyond the courts.

Demand for auto detailing?

Hi everyone. My wife and I recently moved to Sarnia and originally had the intention of retiring. Before moving I operated an auto detailing business in the GTA for ~25 years. I'm considering opening something here because, frankly, I miss it. 😀

Before I jump in with both feet I wanted to see if it seems reasonable to long term locals. It'd be just me operating it, primary focus on paint correction.

Any thoughts or advice are appreciated.

Thanks.

Best Way to Meet People?

Hey everyone! Hope this is a good spot to throw this.

My partner is slowly spending more time here in Sarnia and within the next little while we’re planning on getting a place here full time. I’ve lived here my whole life, but my friend group is relatively small and mainly consists of girls. My boyfriend is a tad shy, and most of his friends are all starting to move away and I can tell he’s starting to get a little emotional over the fact that he won’t be seeing them. I can also tell he’s worried that he’s going to be stuck piggy backing me and my girls and their boyfriends. Not that any of them would have a problem with it!! But I was curious if there was any groups or events for people in their 20s, or good ways to meet people around here? Were going to the Bright’s Grove Music Fest in a few weeks, but other then that I’m curious if there’s any other summer events going on as well. I appreciate any ideas! ☺️

BEWARE OF renting from 457 Murphy Road

BEWARE of renting from 457 Murphy Road. There are piles of trash and bedbugs from a vile roomate. The landlord doesn’t comply with government standards and will enter the building without notice. He also will not treat the bedbug issue. His wife is involved with tenant issues without being on the lease and also smashed some of my belongings.

I am moving to get out of this issue asap. These people may seem nice on the outside but after dealing with issues for over 5 years I thought to post as I leave to make sure people in the community are aware of and can avoid this residence.
