In the plains of central Chhattisgarh, there is a large community of Saryuparin Brahmins living here since many generations. They are distinguished from other Brahmins like Kanyakubj and Marathi etc who are considered to be later settlers (of British and Maratha era), while Saryuparin Brahmins are considered native here (living since Kalachuri rule)

vast majority of them, maintain their geneolony and have information of their origin villages of Saryupar region. However, most now like to identify themselves with Chhattisgarh villages, due to their long history in this region.

They have been mentioned in British gazetteers & other historical records and have been recognised as Zamindars (called Gautiya and malguzar in local language), priets in all major temples of the plains & Government officials.

known for Strict their adherence to traditional Hinduism & vegetarianism.

We are Saryuparin Brahmins, belonging to the Vats Gotra and Pancham Pravar.

I’m not sure about the name of our ancestral village, but I remember it being something like Itar or Itarsi.

Due to the early death of my grandfather and the people of his generation, the next generation has unfortunately forgotten many of our family rituals and even the name of our Kuldevi.

If anyone could help me find out who our Kuldevi is, it would be of immense help to me and my family
