Question about rolling scaffold outriggers, and base width…

So, I got a Metaltech 3-tier rolling scaffold. The top platform is set to about 13.5 ft, not the full height. The outriggers that came with this are 48” but I need to maneuver this into a space that has a width of 56” so the outriggers plus the width of the scaffold itself will not fit.

Metaltech sells 14” outriggers that installed at a 45 degree angle will increase the base width to 48.8”. Would this be adequate?

2 weeks into labouring and severe shoulder & back pain

Hi guys,

I randomly got offered a gig being the labourer for a scaffolding company and took them up on the offer.

I find it really satisfying watching it go up so the brickies or farmworkers etc can do their thing.

The only issue is I'm the main guy carrying all the shit pieces around the site all day. My shoulders are black and blue, my mid and lower back feels like I pulled muscles. It's honestly agony putting the large standards on my shoulders by Friday.

Wondering is this a common experience or am I not cut out for this. The guys I work with said to push through the pain so I become numb but isn't that just getting nerve damage?

Also does the job get easier once you are up on the scaffold putting things together. They have an added element of balance so is that even harder?

Keen to hear your experiences starting out.

Cheers!
