In the last couple weeks (August 2026), my office has become bombarded with numerous calls from varying numbers... all starting with "Hello? Can you hear me?"

Then the caller hangs up.

We're starting to track the numbers to block them, but they are coming from different area codes, at different times of day.

Any resolutions? We're a business, so we can't do a blanket block - or change our telephone number.

FREAKIN RIDICULOUS!!

Someone close to me was arrested a few days back for a dui. First offense. Never even had a speeding ticket. Hasn’t been drinking recently and possibly lost some tolerance. Either way she’s scared now and dealing with a bunch of other shit on top of it. Scammers have been coming out of the woodwork using public records to try to convince her and others they are police and even threatening her with jail time if she doesn’t reply or send money. Well this morning while she was at her mother’s interment this dip shit actually used his own number to give it a shot. I know it’s his number because I called and he actually answered. I also confirmed with local police that he is not an actual cop. Maybe some of y’all have had similar experiences.
