3rd rewatch

As much as I loveeee this show and most of its characters, after season 5, I’ve realized Liv is evil. Just as bad as Rowan in terms of manipulation/backstabbing etc. Where/When did she lose the white hat? Genuine question. I keep re watching episodes and trying to figure out when things officially changed, and her moves became selfish rather than for the greater good. Or was it always this way and. I missed it?

I’m rambling. No one irl watches this show and I needed to say that so let me know your thoughts.

Abby is the worst

I’ve watched the show many times and every time I cringe so hard when Abby calls Paige a whore in the first episode, and then goes on to call sex workers whores as well. She’s the opposite of a girls girl and it pmo. She’s snarky af and rude about all the wrong things. She’s just unprofessional so many times. Rewatching again and Abby is sooo frustrating!

Olivia Pregnancy

I’m surprised they never wrote Olivia’s pregnancy into the show aside from the abortion. She was pregnant twice during the show and they really tried everything to hide it, lol. Behind handbags, lamps, big coat, caftans.

What’s your honest opinion of Olivia and Fitz?

I can't believe Shonda had us rooting for infidelity.

mellie in paris is burning

cyrus was right when he said she was upset that she lost the friendship. that she knew they were not in love but she thought they were a friendship/partnership and him publicly humiliating her by putting forward his affair with olivia negated this. it was especially bad because she was starting her term as senator of virginia and she would not be taken seriously as a woman whose husband is going out with someone who used to be a close advisor.

i think after all the demands mellie asked were met by fitz this made her angry. she felt shocked he caved because it meant he wanted to get rid of her fast, and she felt she put in her time to deserve more thought from him. she thought there would be more resistance on his end, and she would be able to buy time for her marriage.

one thing i think is interesting is she tells olivia to make sure she knows what she was fighting for when she did not seem to take her own advice. she talked about how she felt numb being a first lady, and she used her hooch to feel alive, but when fitz gave her the out in the divorce, she was furious and accused olivia of stealing her life, and sleeping in her bed. it just seemed as if she was talking out of both sides in order to figure out which side prevented the divorce from whoever was listening.

thoughts?

Mellie Grant

So I'm finally on season 7, I feel so bad for Mellie. She keeps having hope and trust in those around her like Cyrus, Jake and Olivia.... and they keep failing her.

Season 7 Olivia

This I’m command, tough, do it all Olivia is so unbelievable and makes this season so hard to watch. Also the random making Jake Fitz and Eli “weak” characters that she can manipulate doesn’t work at all to me. Am I the only one that sees it and feels that way?!?! Also I’m only like halfway through this season I know stuff can change real quick lol

Just started scandal and i’m already irritated

So i’m on about season 3 or so and fitz is IRRITATING. Hes messing up everyone’s bag, even the first episode was about him being in his feelings and start a sex scandal and continuing one that he hasn’t been caught for.

He genuinely didn’t deserve to be president. he was being held together by everyone around him, and overall he’s just a weak man. And the affair between him and liv is simply annoying if anything. if he wasn’t handsome, he’d have nothing. It’s just irritating everytime he’s on screen . Maybe i’ll feel differently when i end the show but i can’t imagine that i could.

Just started Season 7 and I'm trying to push through but I hate everyone so much already. Is it worth completing?

Olivia's face when Mellie (tried) to check her at the end of episode 1.

just finished scandal for first time and disappointed

like wdym i watched seven seasons of this show that had me so hooked in the first few seasons i loved it sm i even thought it was better than greys anatomy. >!then season seven hit and idek what show im watching. they ruined liv, KILLED DAVID??????, and ruined jake’s character and made eli look like a saint??? i also feel like for as much of the show being focused on liv and fitzs relationship, we should’ve gotten a better ending for them. like it was cute and i’m glad their together but it felt really rushed and not enough. i can’t believe they killed david i havent stopped seething about it since i finished the show last night. the only good thing out of that episode was charlie and quinn getting married(best couple imo) just wanting to hear other people’s thoughts on the ending compared to the show as a whole.!<

Why does anyone like Fitz as a person

I hate him because his whole thing was hes a serial cheater, with 1 almost affair baby, and his favorite employee being his favorite bird, and also theres early hints he cheated beyond those 2 from how hes framed but those arent spoken of.

And then he finds out that Millie pulling away, being uncomfortable for touch, etc etc after disappearing for hours and coming back with her hair and clothes messed up asking him just to let her shower (which he demands for her not to forcing her to sit in the products of the rape longer while in Fitzs arms).

Also notably she told him and he ignored it so bad they had to have a second talk where he pretends he wasnt told. Then she reveals that the reason she changed is because he raped her and she realized he would never get through the election without Daddies love and support and he would not be helpful in a rape case nor stand up to his father. Like she never outright said it but seriously anyone who isnt blind and ignorant could read the cues even without the flashbacks.

He CONTINUES to loathe and resent her but this time because he felt it was unfair that she never spoke up sooner but he also clearly never told off his father as that would have been a major character arc, and also still notably risked him being able to acess their kids.

He then resents her for feeling over it because at this point she got raped and covered it up for him, stood by his serial cheating for him, stood up to his father HER RAPIST for him, she rigged a election for him, canceled her career for him, raised their kids primarily for him (note every episode about the kids he likes them but doesnt actively do much before he immediately passes them back to her, she had to remind him what the kids like, shes the middleman for communication between the kids and him). He then sits and cried about how he was denied sex so he "Had to fuck other people". Mind you he was also free to have a serious conversation about alternatives like a side piece. And he fucked up so consistently both ended up public affiars she had to help handle while simultaneously being blamed for it and being unreasonably mean to his side pieces. And she finally after years of begging and pleading and accepting his side piece, and doing literally everything to get his love because for him access to sex is love but its also not like that with Olivia when she refused him for YEARS.

And shes the evil monster for having a affair for 2 seconds after he told her he loathed her, hasnt lied her, doesnt respect her, etc etc for years. But also dont forget he bought his side whore a MANSION he actively hides from his wife.

He whines like a petulant child over every ounce of rejection because he feels so entitled to exactly what he wants from everybody with 0 communication on his end but how dare they not communicate even if they asked him to. But also when they do the same to him its outragous. Hes literally the hugest sterotype but cant see it because thats part of the stereotype. Hes like the most stereotypical Republican president (which also I noticed a lot of people seemed to have missed) and wouldnt even stand up for gay marriage until it was politically valuable. He has no real morals or opinions he follows the numbers. His entire thing is "I wanna do the right thing for everyone and now that everyone else has done all the research work and effort I finally have decided that what my side piece says is okay is right unless Im mad at her that day then its wrong". Especially considering his reaction to Mellie "cheating" when he was still actively sleeping with Olivia

I wont lie the Olitz chemistry is amazing especially early on but dear lord I cant even like Fitz as a character because he has non. Hes just a plot device and its so ugh.

Im ngl I just realized how I view him is very similar to how I feel about Abby.

Weird actors

I feel like people confuse big acting with great quality acting. Many actors in the cast don’t feel charismatic to me. Like they might be okay or good at giving a big speech (loud, big eyes, interesting choices of pronunciation lol) but only some get away with it for me (at least up to a point) because they have that „thing“, like a spark, that actually makes me listen. I feel like the more speeches/scenes you watch, the easier it gets to really tell who is good at acting and who is just doing a good job at making a big show out of something (or nothing). I guess it comes down to authenticity. Abby, Olivia, Quinn, Fitz, Jake (tho i‘m not a big fan of his acting) feel authentic to me. Huck, Cyrus, Papa Pope i just feel like they‘re talking all loud and weird.

I pushed through and finished the show and it was awful…

The damn monologues threw me over the edge, the ones I could stand and actually liked were Papa Popes but Cyrus‘ constant speeches about his importance and then him even comparing his pain to Mellies saying that Fitz was like his son and since his “son“ is alive and disowned him it’s way worse than Mellies ACTUAL son who is dead in the grave but is so called “safe” there?…

This was a miss for me which is sad because I love Shonda’s other shows.

Olivia finding who her mum is was written badly.

Command could have just told her daughter, Olivia what her mum was.

All that back and forth was unnecessary. Now, the traitor has escaped.

The writing made no sense, tbh. It could have saved us a whole season off.

Let’s not even talk about how brilliant and fierce Olivia is being manipulated by Fitz. There was no way that relationship would work. Also, a First Lady title is so beneath her. Her career would have crashed and ended. What was she thinking???

PS: I’m in S3E11. No spoilers, please.
