"New tech coming to Scranton historic site"

Anyone wanna explain this vague article?

>The newly introduced tools will track where visitors spend their time and money, including visits to local restaurants and hotels.

Sounds like they're using very roundabout and vague terminology to avoid saying "we're using ai surveillance tools to track visitors outside of the park."

Old Forge first time

Tried two because they were across the street from each other. It’s definitely a different taste and style than I’m used to. Very unique from every other pizza style I’ve had. It reminds me of Ellios but is much better. The crust is more French bread like than “crust” and the cheeses were different but blended well together. To me, the sauce at arcano was more textured and better but the cheese combo at revellos was better. A nice try, wouldn’t go back again unless I missed a must have place that’s different

New Kitchen Counter!

Was able to swing a partial kitchen renovation this year (new counter, induction cooktop, sink, and range hood). Had no prior experience with this kind of thing (I had done most of my "homework" by myself, but health issues have mostly scuttled that).

(Note that we choose to leave the backsplash behind the range undone, as we're going redo that wall anyway.)

We went with Perfect Storm Renovations in Pittston (we're in Southside) and had an excellent experience! Low pressure, free estimates. One visit to discuss the needs, one to finalize the contract and sign the paperwork, another to get the exact measurements, and finally one full day for ALL the work.

The folks that came were courteous, considerate, and took great care not to create new damage or needless mess. They cleaned up nicely, removed all the waste, and made sure we had all the relevant manuals and documentation for the new gear. They even put up cheerfully with all my old man questions and stories!

Decent contractors can be hard to find! Highly recommended!

Calling all local retrocomputing fans and geeks!

Hey everyone!

If you're in or near Northeastern PA and have an interest in retrocomputing, I've set up the NEPA Retrocomputing Group to connect local enthusiasts.

Anyone is welcome if they're interested in restoring hardware, writing code, playing games, or simply feeling nostalgic about older technology.

We meet once a month to have a coffee, talk over our projects, display our equipment, and establish a local community. Our next meetup is:

  • Where: JivaJava Cafe (3427 PA-611, Bartonsville, PA)
  • When: Saturday, August 29th at 1:00 PM

If interested, feel free to comment, and I’ll shoot you a private message with more details.

Hope to see a few of you there! 😄

Medical Care

What is the deal with medical care in Scranton?

A hospital discharged me after 11 days treatment for an infection in my leg, transitioning me from IV to oral antibiotics. Only they never cultured my wound, and two days post discharge I couldn’t walk again. Turns out a culture revealed a pathogen that NONE of the antibiotics they used were effective against — and a simple culture would have revealed that fact. All they did was knock it back a little bit and not eradicate it. How did three separate infectious disease doctors, two hospitalists, an orthopedist, and countless nurses never think to perform a wound culture?

Take anything serious down to Allentown or Easton — or New York or Philly. You’re not going to get well here.

Theatre at North question.

To anyone that's seen a show there, how is the accessibility for people with walking issues (using canes or walkers)? Is it easy to get into the theatre and to your seat?

Hotel hot tub question.

Pretty random, but anyone know any hotels or bed and breakfasts in the area that have a jetted hot tub or jacuzzi in the room? Only one I found was days inn in Scranton. Preferably looking for something closer to pittston. Searching those booking sites on mobile is a pain in the ass cause every click is a new window. Thanks!

Voiceover artist needs help fixing an audio issue

Hey everyone!

I just came back to the area after graduating from Penn State. I have a remote job but I like to do voiceover work on the side.

I’ve been doing VO for a while now, but I’ve always had an issue where my audio volume is too low. As in, when I record my voice it’s never loud enough. I know this seems like an easy fix, but I’ve visited every website and forum imaginable—even Reddit once or twice— and nothing works.

So, I am hoping there is a resource in the area that can help me. Either a phone call/FaceTime, or even someone who can come to my house and take a look at my equipment with their own eyes. Honestly, I’m just tired of this and would like it to be fixed.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you had a courthouse wedding question!

Has anyone had a “courthouse wedding” in Scranton? We’ll be applying for our license soon so I was curious what the next steps are after that? Google says we’d have to find our own judge to officiate that but how do we do that exactly? I’ll ask all of these questions once we apply but wanted to see anyone had advice in advance.

Photographer looking for a quality print shop to work with for prints/photobook projects.

Anybody know where I can get some of my photography printed in town or around the area? In the early stages of putting together a photobook. Any leads would be appreciated!

Pizza Perfect - How Good is their Pizza?

Ive been there a couple of times (Im from NYC) and really enjoy their unique style of pizza. It is similar to a place called Victory Pig which was also good. I can’t seem to find this style anywhere where in Wilkes Barre.

What are the opinions of locals for Pizza Perfect. Am I just crazy or is it really good. Thinking of making a trip out there soon.
