Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti campaigns with Governor Shapiro in Luzerne County

Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti campaigns with Governor Shapiro in Luzerne County

“Bresnahan responded to Cognetti's campaign event in a statement saying, in part, "It's out with "Paige Against the Machine" and in with "Paige Embraces the Machine" today as Governor Josh Shapiro campaigns for establishment choice and failed mayor Paige Cognetti at a super-secret press event at the Avenue Diner in Wyoming, PA."

Governor Josh Shapiro's challenger in the general elections, Republican Treasurer Stacy Garrity, also released a statement responding to the campaign event, saying, in part, "Josh Shapiro is more focused on his dreams of living on Pennsylvania Avenue than helping northeast Pennsylvania families achieve theirs. Under Josh Shapiro's failed administration, Pennsylvania ranks 38 th in the nation economically, 39th in education, and 41st overall, and those rankings have real-world consequences.”

Last meal here

I'm headed back home tomorrow and want to have one good last meal. There have been so many suggestions, I don't know where to go. It'll most likely have to be for lunch.

Seafood

Local flavors

I'd like to steer clear from pizza. I feel like I've eaten way too much of that this week

Thanks!

PS- This area is lovely and I hope I get to come back soon.

Yu-Gi-Oh Collecting in/around Scranton?

Hey, all, moving back to the Scranton area after 5-ish years in Europe and grad school to help family through some transitions. Since moving out, I've started working on a full English TCG master set of Yu-Gi-Oh cards, and I'm wondering if any of you know of any card shops in the area that sell bulk singles. I love going through boxes of cards and comparing to my masterlist. (Incredibly niche, I know.)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Local Pride events?

I’m sure Scranton has some Pride stuff going on in June. I could use something fun to look forward to in the next few weeks. Maybe even some volunteer opportunities? Hit me up with links and whatnot!

Looking to move out ASAP, need a roommate

I'm currently living in a DV situation and I need to move out ASAP for my health and safety. The thing is I'm extremely broke right now (I have a few hundred bucks to my name) and while my income is fixing to increase significantly once I get my CDL (which I'm currently working on), until then it's gonna be real fucking tight. With my current income, I can probably afford around $800 monthly rent, and all I need is one room. I do have one indoor cat and he tends to get cagey around other cats, so keep that in mind as well. I've been looking on Furnished Finder and Rent Cafe, but I figured I'd post here as well just in case there's someone in the general area who'd be interested in working something out with me. I'm a very quiet, private person who is more than willing to share responsibility for household chores and necessities (such as toiletries, groceries, etc.). I'm aware that I probably don't look like a very appealing roommate on account of my financial situation, but I figured there's no harm in putting myself out there because I really do need to get out of my current living situation ASAP, and the worst that can happen is no one responds. If anyone's interested or knows anyone who might be, please let me know! Thanks ^^

bag of bags– where to take?

I try to use reusable grocery bags, when I remember. But often, I'll either forget to bring them with me, or I'll make an unplanned stop at a store and end up with these plastic grocery bags.

They are handy for garbage and things like that, but I'm starting to accumulate way too many. I know some grocery stores have bins for them, but I don't want to drive all around stopping to check which ones have them. And I always forget to take notice when I go into a store if they have one.

So, does anyone know what stores in the Scranton area that have these bins? I'm in Scranton, but willing to drive to surrounding towns if I know for sure that a store has a bin.

Thanks in advance.

Edit to add: I know a few years ago, Valley Library was taking them to raise money. So if anyone knows of anything like that going on, that would be cool too.

Did anyone else get this in their texts earlier today? It's definitely some interesting information.

Gay walking group

I’m looking to start a gay walking group. Nowhere far I was thinking mcdade park to start. I feel like this will be a good way to meet other gay men and women in our area other than the 2 bars we have or the apps. I’m just seeing if there is any interest in something like this. Leave a comment if you’re interested.

Best Burger in the Area

Hello everyone!

I’m planning on going out for a date night this evening and my husband and I are both craving a burger. Where are your go-to spots for a decent burger? We live in Scranton but are willing to travel (within reason…)

Thanks in advance!
