how bad is wamu

basically, my brother and I got tickets to see Steve lacy at the wamu theater a couple weeks ago. yesterday, the lineup for camp flog gnaw, a music festival in LA, came out, where he will also be performing. we know we’re going to flog gnaw. were both really big fans, so we would like to see him for a full concert but we’ve also heard horror stories about wamu. is it worth keeping our tickets and lining up all day or should we sell them?

Maná concert Seattle October

47 M4F #Seattle – Maná concert buddy: looking for a curvy/voluptuous Latina for a relaxed fun night

Hey—I’m 47, easygoing guy in the Seattle area who enjoys good music and low-key nights out. I have an extra ticket for Maná at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday, October 17, and would love some good company.

Looking for a Latina woman who’s into the music (or at least open to a fun Latin-rock show) and has a curvaceous, very busty figure. The vibe I’m after is completely chill and relaxing—just enjoy the concert, maybe grab a drink or food before/after, laugh a bit, and have a good time with no pressure or expectations beyond that.
If that sounds like your kind of evening, feel free to message me. Happy to exchange a bit about ourselves and go from there. Looking forward to a fun, low-key night if the chemistry’s there.

Looking for people to talk music / possibly start a band here 🤔

Hey I’m looking for people who are really into music and would be down to talk, share music, maybe jam, and potentially start a band if things goes smoothly.
I’m really into punk, postpunk, grunge, metal, and alternative stuff. Some bands I listen to are T.S.O.L., Dead Kennedys, Subhumans, Joy Division, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Babes in Toyland, Death, and a bunch of other stuff (obviously the Seattle 90’s music bands here too lol)
I play guitar decently and have knowledge for about 3 years now. I haven’t really met many people around here who are into the same kind of music as me, so I figured I’d use Reddit to see if I can find some people here.
I’m not expecting anything super serious right away obviously . I’d honestly just like to meet people who are passionate about music, talk about bands, share music, maybe jam, and see where it goes around here. Even if you just want someone to talk music with, I’m down.
If you’re interested, feel free to comment or message me. This is my first post anyways and testing out the waters here. Just don’t expect us to meet right away lol

Need a buddy

Hey all
I just moved to Seattle (yesterday) and looking into renting a space to be a personal recording studio/space for music lessons/rehearsal space. Wondering if anyone out there has thought about doing something similar and would chat about being partners and sharing the space. Lemme know lemme know.

Songwriter/producer (lead vocals, guitar, bass) looking for one guitarist to build an alternative rock project inspired by early Bush, Linkin Park and most late 90s/early 2000s music. I already have demos.

Hey, I'm moving to Seattle the end of the month. Would love to collaborate with fellow Seattle musicians. (bass, lead guitar and drums.)

I'm 29, currently pursuing a degree in Music Technology.

Here's some of the music I produced, mixed and mastered.

https://youtu.be/wxrUP2u2NFs?si=ygZlkEgl-LCKdoM2

It's very DIY, but hope you like it.

At the moment because of my daily job, I'm just completely exhausted to keep doing 10 things at the same time (Write, arrange, produce, record, mix, master and etc) but just keep going out of passion. I would love to find people with the same mindset who could also contribute to the project. That way, we can release more consistently and focus on getting gigs to play out there.

Thank you so much!

Which neighborhood to move to

I’m moving to Seattle for my job which is in Belltown. My passion is music, specifically music production, singing, songwriting for pop and rnb.

I’m 22 and was wondering which neighborhoods are best for me to live in to meet other people also interested in creating the same genres of music.

So far, I’m between Capitol Hill, Lower Queen Anne, Belltown. I do prefer to live somewhere where it’s not too inconvenient to get to work (no car).

So I was wondering what some of you tapped in the local industry might know about which neighborhoods have what I want. Thanks

Recommendations for local alt r&b and/or alt rappers

Heyo, I'm working on a dance project and I was hoping yall could throw all your local alternative r&b and/or smoother rapper recommendations at me. Those genre limits are general guidelines, not hard lines, so if you have an outside pick you feel strongly about send it too! No wrong answers.

If nothing else, they get a tiny bit of free publicity and a couple streams

Appreciate you guys

Squawk Slough - New live music discovery and Calendar - We want your feedback!

Hey Seattle music community! I'm a 30+ yr resident of Seattle and lifelong music junkie. The live Seattle scene has been a critical part of my life and music discovery since landing here after college. I'm so glad the scene is still alive and thriving today. A friend of mine ask what I thought a simple question but it seems there was no good answer. "Why isn't there a complete live music calendar website covering all the venues in Seattle". From my research, it turns out he was right! There are some great resources but none dedicated to capturing all the many live shows happening every night in Seattle and all in one place.

That sparked the creation of squawkslough.com. A live music calendar and new music discovery website. This project started about 3 months ago (with the help of claude) and in that time we've quickly built out a but of cool features, like playlists, show reviews and comment sections, a music blog and plans to add much more with your feedback. Outside of being an informative tool this site is all about community and bringing music lovers together this only grows and becomes successful with community input. We want your feedback! Tell as what you think, what's good/bad and what features we should add. We're also adding more cities. Let us know what cities we should consider!

Thanks for taking time to check out squawkslough! We'll see you at the show!

Alex

Charles Peterson arguably as Important as Many of the Bands

I moved to Seattle in 1981 and met Charles Peterson in 1983. Charles was already shooting pics and had a camera everywhere he went. Years later, as Sub Pop's de facto house photographer (at the same time that I was working there - EARLY daze), he largely defined how the world would come to picture our little scene, and to that end, as far as I'm concerned, he's is just as important to that history as any of the bands who have received all the accolades. He was effectively the photographer who created so much of the visual language for the scene that would end up taking the world by storm.

Where does Seattle's musical heart beat the loudest?

Hello Seattle,

I am a traveling music photographer and documentarian who is currently visiting Seattle. Tonight will be my first ever time at a show in Seattle.. catching some fuzz soaked garage rock over at Slims Last Chance in Georgetown.

Does anyone have any recommendations for other venues and/or bands to check out while I am in town? I am currently focusing mostly on the underground rock, punk and blues scenes of the West Coast. With a particular vérité lens.. I like bands and places with history or a story... but I am open to basically any genre if it has soul and energy

Jam space/arts collective?

Just moved from Portland, OR where in 2013 a bunch of us came together and leased a small industrial building. Over the years, it grew and grew to the point of sustainability. Bands have most of the space, and Sunday to Friday nights a band can pay to own that night. Saturdays are open. Our space was also unique in that it had a large woodshop/metal fab area and aerialists used it during the day. I've looked at the band practice places around Seattle which while cool in their own right, are not exactly what made our PDX place special. Is this something that exists or should/could exist centrally enough in Seattle work? Or would it be too far outside town to bike/onewheel there? It was great to have the sound system/drums setup and just arrive with instrument/pedalboard. I'm a keys player, mostly rock Hammond/Rhodes/synths who has played jam bands, experimental improv, screamcore to an all original brit pop band that has a few albums/live shows under our belt. Tell me about Seattle:
