Rebuilt model 1 motherboard troubleshooting

I had to rebuild a model 1 motherboard due to severely damaged traces on the original. After hooking everything up the LEDs might flash for a second then go off. I’m also getting a black screen for some reason. I’ve checked the fuse on the power board and it’s good. So is the CD drive. Also tested the power board and cd drive with a good working motherboard so they’re not the problem. Does anyone know what could be going on?

I did break a leg on the 315-5548 chip but repaired it.

The Terminator and Keio Flying Squadron (both Sealed)

I have 2 copies of The Terminator and about 8 sealed copies of Keio.

How much do you think they would go for ?

Does this community know where I can get my segacd repaired?

I'm in the Dallas area and was looking through the sub to see what resources may be available for people to try to get their Sega CDs up and running but I didn't see anything. So I wanted to ask if there's retro electronics repair shop that specializes in old consoles like this?

The issue is it's not reading the disks. I'm guessing it's a laser issue..

Could y'all help me out? I trust this community better than Google.

I'm sure many will scream Blasphemy! But . . .

I think this looks, sounds and plays better than NHL 94. I picked this up today at a local shop CIB for $15. For me It's just got that old school hockey night retro vibe complete with the organ player getting down on the organ playing all the familiar tunes throughout the game

Value of my Lunar Sega CD variant?

According to this site I have the Battle Art version of Lunar for Sega CD. However, it doesn't list the rarity or value of this version, and web searches have not been helpful. Does anyone know where I can find info on the rarity and value of this version I have? I have it CIB. Thanks.

Thinking about trying to make a Sega CD clone machine

As we all know, the Sega CD, while very nice and novel to own, is prone to failures due to age, so I was thinking while staring at my genesis (which i have sitting on top of a DVD player) what if I got some inexpensive disc drive, a couple of chips, soldering alloy and other miscellaneous parts and built a replica sega cd?

I get it, its a pie in the sky "this guy is a blockhead just get an emulator" sort of idea, but I've kind of seen it done before. The polymega and the terraonion MegaSD apparently run sega cd games, and one of those things is just a cartridge. So, assuming I and a couple of my buddies get the skills to put together this "Sega Franken-CD" this could be a fun project to pursue. Constructive feedback and thoughts would be appreciated .

Mega CD. Belt replaced, but still no Game loading :(

Update on the repairs on my Mega-CD. I did the recap and replaced the belt, so, at least, now the disk spins and tries to be read. Still, seems like the game doesnt load :(.

Will get a lent replacement, and i hope that solves it.

Mortal Kombat compatibility problem

I have a Sega CD model 1 and anytime I try to play mortal Kombat Sega CD it freezes. I have tried more than one copy. I read somewhere that mortal Kombat didn't work with model 1 Sega CD with a JVC drive and back then you could send away for a disc that would work. Is there any way to tell the difference between the discs? I enjoyed this port of mortal Kombat and would love to be able to play it again

Sega cd model 1 cap kit

Just reaching out, about to do a cap kit for someone, trying to see if it's similar to game gear where you can pop the surface mounts off and use just regular electrolytics.

Tower of power

I had the tower when I was younger and it was my dream to get it back.
Can’t believe how pricey the systems have become, but my wallet is glad it’s over.

The is a VA4 Mega drive 2 which has had the works, region mode etc etc, the CD unit is so far stock but I will be recapping it soon and having a region free bois done.
The 32x is also region free via a switchless internal mod.

I could have gone with a more modern wireless controller setup, and may still, but I just liked the idea of having the stock Sega one for now.

Got myself a bargain off eBay

Sold as “powers on but unable to test”
Unit was filthy and I mean filthy.

After an hour of cleaning and I mean scrubbing (I still need to strip it down and clean it internally plus the controllers) it works

My first Mega-CD game: Wonder Dog!

My model 1 CD is in for servicing but fortunately my model 2 CD still works just fine. It’s good to have spares!

I also have an Everdrive Pro as a last resort, but I’d rather keep those discs spinning when I have the real thing!

How to get Sega CD to not make this noise?

It usually does this after playing for like 10 minutes. It will eventually stop and load whatever it needs to load, but it is still annoying and I would like a solution.

Mega CD. Looking for the correct regiom free bios

Already did the recap and battery change of the console, and, while i wait for the belt replacement, i was looking to make the console region free.

Checking BIOS, i found this ones:

https://www.consolesunleashed.com/product/sega-mega-cd-region-free-bios-mod-kit/?srsltid=AfmBOor5cRKFBmdENpXTnYWBzP3pRWk7k5R8goPaereLDIO8Q04job0p&v=12470fe406d4

https://www.consolesunleashed.com/product/sega-mega-cd-region-free-multibios-mod-kit/?v=12470fe406d4

I assume that the multibios is the one, but they insist that It only works if you have a switchless region mod on the Mega Drive. It doesnt work if the mod is done with a switch?

In case it doesnt work, whitch one of the BIOS should i choose for the unibios one? Because, on the multibios one they mention that 'a few games need a specific BIOS to work'.

Oh, and about the installation. I saw that you need to solder all excep legs 38 and 39, and those ones need to be solder to the connector. Also, for the multibios one, a pair of cables need to be solder on the connector. Am i correct?

Obviously, I would never trust AI. Just no idea why/how it could think this. My cart is on the way still, hence me researching. Otherwise I'd test it myself, but personally I don't have much hope. I understand some architecture is simply incompatible.

Obviously, this is all borne of a need/desire to finally play snatcher. Something I've been wanting to do for 26 years. ...... I hear the JP saturn version isn't worthy.
