Desoldering Sega Mega CD BIOS chip... impossible with the ground plane!!!
Hi,
I am having real issues trying to desolder the bios chip on this model 1 sega mega cd pcb.... No matter what i try I cant get some of the holes to clear and are super stubborn... especially this last middle pin no matter what I try! I know this board has a thick ground plane but wow.
My desoldering iron is set to 480c, ive tried loads of flux, fresh leaded solder, desolder wick, using hot air etc its just sucking up all the heat and doesnt melt and wont clear.. and its now making me quite frustrated and angry!
How in the hell can I shift this bastard? I dont know how the board isnt actually taking more damage.
Do I need to upgrade my desoldering station?
Oh soldering gods help me!
