Unsaved Set Recording

Okay so I was recording a set when my Serato crashed. While trying to get anything on the screen to work for some reason I stopped the recording and started a new one really fast, even though Serato was not responding to this. When I went to locate my lost file in the "Recording Temp", the only recording there was one second of silence, most likely the recording I did while it was crashing that I didn't even realize it would respond to. Is there any way I can go even further into the backups to find my lost set??

Pitch n time teaser

Just popping out here to say I’m jealous of any of you with Pitch N Time. I bought a used deck (Rane 4) from GC a few months ago and it didn’t come with a code to unlock PnT.

For some reason when I connected my deck a couple of weeks ago it offered me a free trial of the full suite of Serato add ons. I had been dying to try out PnT.

Unfortunately, it was a cool as I’d hoped it would be.

My trial’s ended and I cannot justify purchasing it separately. But just wanna say to yall who have it, you’re blessed.

That’s all. Have a great day.

Okay, time to admit I am getting old. Need to buy DJ controller, the 1200s may need to live at home.

Your suggestions wanted!!

So I am a recently returnee DJing hobbyist, regular gig at my LRS and the occasional party. I typically use a pair of 1200s with Phase controllers and a Numark Scratch mixer to do a mix of vinyl and files via Serato Pro. Pretty happy with this setup.

I am also no longer 20, broke my neck (not as dramatic as it sounds, but I was left with permanent neck damage and bits of bone floating around) in a car wreck many years ago and between that and a youth full of tearing my body badly, have a lingering chronic pain problem. In short me hauling 1200s and LPs in flight cases up several flights is wandering into “you are a f@&$ing moron” territory.

Time for me to act like an adult. I am looking to pick up a reasonably cheap controller to try it out and see how much I hate it, say under $400. Will probably go for used via eBay. Kid 1 starts college in 2 weeks the other is a junior in HS and my wife grew up in the depression, kidding, but frivolous spending is a no go.

I’ve looked at a handful of the very shiny and impressive new things one can find at the average Guitar Center, but I am not quite ready to drop $1500 and frankly many of them seem 95% glitz 5% function.

I’m not hugely into using seratos looping, do use the effects functions here and there and awkwardly will do a bit of scratching after a few beverages. I prefer tech that feels solid and well made, but know I am coming in via the basement.

Mostly I want to see what people are using that works with present day serato pro. I don’t want to buy it and find it isn’t supported.

Bonus if there is a controller that allows TT/usb for phase, inputs as well. I can think of running to do with 2 channels of vinyl 2 channels of files all mixable, or 4 of files. This is an aspirational concern, mostly worried about the basics.

New to CDJs

Amateur bedroom DJ here, picked up my first set of CDJs for dirt cheap ($80 for the set). Really old CDJ1000 MK1s. They function pretty nice, just had to clean the dust off.

My question I have to the experienced users is; outside of obviously burning a crapload of CDs, am I able to connect them to Serato still using the Serato Timecode CD? And does it matter what Mixer I use to do it? (I have the DJM 350 mixer)

Songs rating

Hi folks!

I was wondering how do you classify your tracks with the rating of serato?

Personnaly, I use 4 stars:

1☆: bad song

2☆: neither bad, nor good

3☆: good songs

4☆: favorites

How do you organise your rating?

Searching for better ideas, if that may be possible...

Thanks!

Rane 68 compatibility w/ Serato

I'm a vinyl DJ, and have been mixing with vinyl since the late 90's then stopped and mainly do it as a hobby since everything went digital, I never switched to Serato or any of its competitors. I still use a Vestax mixer that has served me well for almost 30 years. I came across a Rane 68 on Marketplace for $500 that I might pick up tomorrow, and from everything I found online, it should have great preamps and better sound quality for my vinyl.

The seller told me straight up that he is selling it since they stopped supporting Serato, and he bought a new Pioneer. I know this mixer has two soundcards which is overkill for me, it's dated, and if I get it I wont be able to run the newest version, but can I just download the most recent version that is compatible, and mix with this and record my vinyl mixes and buy a CDJ, add it or maybe get DVS and switch back and forth if I want to add in some of my own digital tracks? Also will the older version still work, or is there some workaround people use for these outdated mixers? I checked out Virtual DJ and I didn't see support for this mixer there either, but didn't check Traktor. I did see a downloadable version of Serato DJ Pro online for this mixer, I'm assuming I wouldn't have to pay for anything to use it, or would I? Thanks

Relocation music files

I just switched from Windows to a MacBook Pro 2019 with Tahoe on it. I installed the latest Serato today. I've been pressing " Relocate Lost Files " all day, and omg nothing happens.

I try to locate the files on its own, and I can find them with no issue. I keep trying to relocate the relocated files again, and nothing happens. I really don't want to do my whole library again. I transferred all my music from my hard drive to my MacBook Pro.

Should I have my music in a folder on my desktop? Would that work better? Right now, they are in the Music folder under the user, then Music.

Cue points not saving for some tracks?

Anyone else having an issue with Serato 4.x not saving cue points for some tracks? I'll think it's saved, but when I go to another crate and back to the one with the track in it & load the track, the cue points are gone.

Serato freeze help

Hey all - I have this occasion issue where serato freezes ENTIRELY when i just click the search button on it - I am running the latest version and have an m3 max laptop. I am not sure why this happens and the only option is to force quit it and restart the app. I need to resolve this ASAP before I play at a high stakes gig. Anyone encounter this before and know what to do? Thank you for the help.

Serato isn’t recording in my Windows laptop

When I try to record in Serato, it doesn’t show any sound being registered in the mix. I have master turned up, the sound channel is set correctly, and I can hear everything else fine.

The internet says my Windows settings need to allow permission for Serato to access the mic, but I don’t see Serato as an option.

Has anyone dealt with this?

Custom and Studio Stems in Serato. Beta is completed and ready to be tested!

Been working on this for about 6 months (previously Custom Stem Injector) and am ready for public testing.

Have updated the beta to run natively on Apple Silicon via MLX. Its bundled with some of the leading community separation models and allows building custom Serato .stems files for playback of extracted stems (or your own studio stems) in Serato DJ.

This is currently for macOS on M1+ only for now. I will probably never make the separation models run on Intel/Windows as there are other solutions for that, but will we working on the custom stem building function on those platforms.

Let me know how its goes!

EDIT: Finished Quality/Speed selection and added a model in v0.4 on Github

  • Added PolarFormer 62 as a selectable vocal model, positioned below Leap and above FT3.
  • PolarFormer runs a tested batch-1 MLX profile with PoPE positional embeddings. On the M4 Pro test machine it processed at near Leap XE quality with lower processing time.
  • Balanced (default): the selected vocal model (Leap XE defaults) handles Vocal. Kim Inst V1E handles Instrumental-only work; when Drums/Bass/Melody are requested, BS-RoFormer-SW runs directly on the full song and supplies the component stems and summed Instrumental.
  • Highest: the selected vocal model handles Vocal, Kim Inst V1E handles Instrumental, and BS-RoFormer-SW splits Kim’s instrumental when Drums/Bass/Melody are requested.
  • Fast: one direct BS-RoFormer-SW pass supplies every selected output; Instrumental is the sum of its non-vocal stems.

Built EZLibrary, a free open source Serato library manager for Mac. Looking for the community to help make this the tool everyone actually needs.

Hey everyone,

Quick thing before I get into the app. You've probably seen the flood of "vibe coded" DJ apps lately, thrown together fast, priced like a finished product, abandoned six months later with zero updates. Meanwhile it's got full write access to your library and nobody's answering issues anymore. Charging DJs for that really just doesn't sit right with me.

So here's EZLibrary, and honestly, I don't want this to be another solo project that fizzles out. I think it can become something the whole community leans on, but only if people chip in.

I'm a DJ myself, and got tired of tracks going missing after moving drives, messy tags, adn no easy way to consolidate scattered music without digging through Serato's database by hand. Built EZLibrary to fix that for my own library, figured other people here deal with the same stuff.

What it does:

  • Finds and fixes missing/broken tracks without wrecking cues or beat grids
  • Catches duplicates by fingerprinting the audio, not just the filename
  • Bulk tag editing and metadata lookups
  • Full crate browsing, smart crates included
  • Consolidates music scattered across drives, rewrites Serato's paths for you
  • Backs up before every write, atomic writes, read-back verification

Why I'm upfront about trust:

  • Free and open source, GPLv3, full engine on GitHub
  • 230+ automated tests, byte-exact test against a real 1,343 track library
  • 180+ commits in the open, 8 releases, roughly monthly
  • Won't run while Serato's open, since that's when it can overwrite your library from memory
  • Not affiliated with Serato Audio Research, just reads/writes their file format

Site: https://tawaunl.github.io/EZLibrary/ Source: https://github.com/tawaunl/EZLibrary

Here's the real ask. I don't want to be the only one keeping this alive. I'd rather it become something the community builds together, so DJs get one solid, trustworthy, free tool instead of paid apps that show up and disappear. If any of this sounds like you:

  • Jump into the code — engine, UI, wherever you're strong. CONTRIBUTING.md in the repo, some issues tagged for newcomers.
  • Test it on your own library — everyone's setup is different, that's how bugs get found.
  • Tell me what's missing — what's still annoying that this doesn't touch yet?
  • Or just give feedback — even "this confused me" helps.

Check it out at tawaunl.github.io/EZLibrary, ask me anything, and let me know what you think either way.
