Genuinely looking for female friends in Sharjah. I’m 30 M

Hi, I know there's a sentiment that it's almost impossible to make friends here in this country but I still would like to try.

I live in Sharjah around Majaz 1 Corniche and I would like to meet female friends. We can hang out, go for a walk, sit and talk, and have lunch/ dinner together.

Despair, no jobs.

i live in sharjah, i have been applying to unskilled jobs for a long time now, things like refurbishing laptops warehouse worker whatever i just want some money to live my life, nothing came of it, and so today i decided i would go out to local businesses and ask them, so i got dressed and tried to make my self look respectable, about 90% of them rejected me the second i mentioned job, the other 10 smiled trying to hold their laugh back, the reality is im not getting a low skill job if i do not speak hindi or im not even indian to begin with.

im an arab, 21 years old, did fuck all with my life zero work experiance, i am a laughing stock infront of my friends, they wear designer while i wear crappy clothes that dont even fit well, at this point all i feel is despair, there is no way out, to make money you need money, what do you do when you dont have money then? our financial situation is tough at home barely making it by, i never imagined my self to be struggling like this in life later on, i want a job but they just dont exist to, i dont know where to go or what to do now, i really thought going in person would gurantee me a job but in the end nothing came of it, only this existential dread and realizing how putrid my situation is and how this hole is simply to deep to dig my self out of, im officially middle aged, broke, people my age have cars and are getting married, i cant imagine owning a modern smart phone let alone a car.

in the end this is more of a rant, maybe some way to cope with this reality i find my self in, but if anyone knows a way out any suggestion would help now as im out of ideas, my plan was to get stable income and then start trading half my monthly income till i learned and got good at it, the stable income bit seems impossible for the moment, even indeed and other online job platforms have nothing that fits me, i used to flip stuff on facebook market place so i have good experiance in sales, but truly facebook marketplace here is a complete shit show now people have gotten very very cheap and will fight me over 50 dhs on a 1600 aed laptop (thats after i eliminate 90% of my profit margin for them) i speak english well, speak arabic, only know how to insult someone in hindi if that matters, i love coffee would love a cafe job as i have real passion for it, i have a good understanding of all things computer hardware related, i would not mind working on cars to with training i think i can do fine as a mechanic, really just desperate at the moment, i want a way out, anything will do.

Warning: Always Check Wheel Alignment After Shock Absorber and Steering Rack Assembly Work

I had my car's underchassis repaired at a Filipino garage in Sharjah. They replaced several parts, including the shocks, steering assembly components, shock boots, shock absorbers, shock mountings, and other related parts. Overall, they were able to fix most of the issues.

However, right after I got my car back, I noticed a noise whenever I drove around curves. I returned the following weekend, but they told me they couldn't find any problem. The week after that, I went back again, and they suggested the noise was probably caused by the roads I was driving on because they couldn't hear it during their test drive.

To help them, I even recorded the noise and sent them the voice recprs on June 9 2026, but I never received a response. Since the garage is quite far from where I live, I eventually scheduled another inspection. During that visit, I was shocked to discover that both of my 4-month-old Yokohama tires were already badly worn.

One of the technicians assumed a wheel alignment had been done after the suspension work, but to my surprise, it had never been performed. The lack of alignment caused excessive tire wear. In the end, they replaced the damaged tires with Chinese-brand tires, and we agreed to split the cost 50/50.

This was a costly lesson for me. If you've had any underchassis or Shocks, steering rack work done, always make sure a wheel alignment is performed afterward. Fortunately, I didn't end up in an accident despite driving in extreme summer heat with damaged tires.

Looking for public speaking/debate activity for kids in Al Nahda, Sharjah

Hi all, summer vacation has started and we're not travelling this year. Looking for an activity for our 12-year-old daughter to make good use of her time. Thinking public speaking or debate.

Not looking for the usual coloring/art/dance camps.

Open to enrolling in something existing, or teaming up with other parents nearby to start our own small group.

Drop a comment or DM if interested.

Received 2 parking fines despite having a valid parking subscription

I got two parking fines in Al Nahda on 2nd July and 4th July, even though I had an active parking subscription valid until 5th July.

I parked in the exact same spot where I usually park, and as far as I can tell, nothing has changed with the parking rules or signage there.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this likely a mistake, and what’s the best way to dispute these fines? Any advice would be appreciated.

Made a dumb mistake with the parking

Last year I purchased a parking subscription for 1 year which is the entire Sharjah. It got expired last month and forgot about the expiration date. Now I gotta pay 1,050 AED for 7 days of unpaid parking.

Not here to complain, just wanted to rant :p

A friendly reminder for everyone to check their parking subscriptions (if you have one) to avoid any parking fines.

Title: Best driving school in Sharjah? SDI or something else?

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to open my driving file soon and I'd really appreciate some honest advice from people who actually got their license in Sharjah.

Which driving school do you think is the best overall in terms of:

- High pass rate

- Good instructors

- Less waiting time for classes and tests

- Overall experience

I'm mainly considering SDI, but I've seen mixed opinions.

If you studied at SDI:

- Would you recommend it?

- How was your experience from start to finish?

- Did you pass on your first attempt?

- Is there a specific instructor (especially a female instructor if possible) that you highly recommend?

I'm also open to recommendations for other schools if you think they're better.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback before I enroll. Thanks!

Best place to stay in Sharjah with family?

Hi all,

We r relocating from India to UAE. I prefer Sharjah for its cost savings. Which place is good for a family stay, 2 or 3 BHK apartments with covered parking and schools near by. I did some research but observed mixed opinions on areas and schools. Muwailih area seems to be a good option. Not sure if we get good apartments. Our kids are in Cambridge curriculum so we are looking for a British school near by.

Rent seems to be around 65k and school fee around 30k per kid per year. How accurate are these? Which schools got good student support. We have seen the SPEA website and found schools like GEMS, Intl school of creative science, Sharjah English school got very good ratings. PACE and some other got good ratings.

Which areas got good Indian diaspora esply Telugu or South Indian. Thanks in advance.

Old Family Business on the verge to close

My father started our metal fabrication business in the UAE 32 years ago, and today I'm doing everything I can to keep his legacy alive.

We specialize in MS & SS handrails, fencing, warehouse sheds, mezzanine floors, greenhouses, sports court chain-link fencing, and custom steel fabrication. One of our proudest projects was the compound wall grills for Ajman Free Zone in 2015.

The market has become tough, and we're looking for new contracts to get back on our feet. If you're in construction, contracting, or facilities management in the UAE, I'd truly appreciate any leads, advice, or the opportunity to quote for your next project.
