Why Reno???

So, the movie from my understanding takes place in Maine, and Redd describes Andy as a “vice president of a large Portland bank…Good work for a man as young as he was”.

However, I’ve always wondered about this. In the opening sequence, the prosecuting lawyer is describing the fierce argument he and with his wife before her murder, and tells Andy that witnesses said he was heard saying, “I’ll see you in HELL before I see you in Reno”.

What on Earth is the significance and relevance of Reno, NV here?!🤔

What would Warden Sam Norton say to Jesus Christ if he went to Heaven immediately after shooting himself?

The Warden Sam Norton was such a nasty criminal and corrupt man stealing money and making himself millions of dollars, what would happen to him being a Christian man if he went straight to Heaven and the pearly gates after shooting himself and met Saint Peter and Jesus Christ immediately and was commanded to explain himself and his entire life and actions including using Andy and murdering Tommy among other things?

Wouldn't the thought of judgement from Jesus Christ Himself and going to Hell have been enough to make him consider going to prison and serving time there instead? Norton was actually stupid because he threw away his chance at repentance and forgiveness, maybe Tommy is prosecutor in his Heavenly trial too.

Shawshank gotta be remade, who we casting

Studio says they're remaking Shawshank, but Reddit gets to choose the cast. We don't get to say no to a remake, but neither do the actors that we pick:

I'll go first, Giancarlo Esposito as the Warden

Andy’s first meeting with Red

He tells Red he wants a rock hammer and Red says “What is it and why?”. Andy says “Why do you care?”.

Anyone think that was a rather bold, not to mention rude, thing to say to someone he just met? If I had been Red I would’ve been tempted to say “How am I supposed to get it if I don’t know what it is. Look, I’ve been here 20 years and I’ve worked my butt off to get where I am. I don’t need some smart ass fish giving me any lip. You already cost me a pack of smokes. And don’t give me that crap about being innocent. I read about you in the paper. They had you dead to rights. Go ask that guy over there for your rock hammer. I hear he has a good source for harmonicas if you ever need one”.

Then I go to the Sisters and offer them a store credit if they pay Andy a visit.

Shawshank redemption remake fancast

Will Smith as "Red"Will Smith’s natural on-screen warmth and booming voice would bring a profoundly charismatic, grounded gravitas to Red.Dynamic: Trading Freeman's world-weary introspection for a sharper, smooth-talking pragmatist who runs the prison's black market.Key Strength: His signature charm would make Red’s earned cynicism feel deeply relatable, building immense emotional weight for his later parole hearings and reunion with Andy.

Charlie Heaton as Andy DufresneCharlie Heaton brings an angular, intense, and somewhat delicate look that perfectly fits a wrongfully convicted, introverted banker.Dynamic: Rather than the outwardly stoic, calm Tim Robbins approach, Heaton's portrayal would highlight Andy’s underlying vulnerability masking a razor-sharp intellect.Key Strength: Known for playing outsiders in Stranger Things, Heaton would nail the "quiet genius" who uses his financial knowledge to manipulate the system for survival while keeping his humanity intact.

Why was Warden Norton so upset about Andy playing the record on the intercom when it was a harmless prank that everyone enjoyed and harmed nobody at all?

This is really one of those funny moments where the Warden Norton got made to look bad in a minor way, because Andy played the record loudly and had fun but didn't do anything wrong, why does the Warden freak out because of something so stupid?

He yells and acts like a spoiled baby and has a fit but it's just a minor thing, shows you how pathetic the Warden was acting childish and having a temper tantrum which would undermine his authority for being a whining baby himself.

Could the Warden Norton have gone on trial and framed Andy and Captain Hadley to defend himself?

Would it have been possible for the Warden Norton to go to prison and accuse Andy and Captain Hadley of lying about everything and throw the guilt onto them both?

Instead of shooting himself he goes on trial and blames Tommy and Red along with others and tries to ruin everything by pretending he is being falsely accused?
