The atmosphere in Shenmue 2 really is incredible! You can feel the weight of the world as it moves past you.

I was wondering if anyone could identify what this is.
His safety deposit box was just special documents, a couple pocket watches, 3 metal baseball cards, his coin collection, and a couple sentimental things from his father like his wedding ring.
Then we found this. He never left the US, but worked for a company that had locations all over the world, so I’m not sure if it was gifted to him, maybe a special order collectors “coin”, something that was special to his father…
But identifying what it is at all when his safety deposit box was so small and held so few things, I really want to now what was special about it to him. He was not one to keep unnecessary items and what he did have was very organized. He dressed very blue collar, didn’t have interest in chachkis, so finding this unique ornamental thing with no discernible use was odd.
He was born in the 30’s, I don’t know if that time frame helps.

Hello, everyone. I am brand new to the series (I just bought the first two games a few days ago on sale); I love games like Persona 3 (my 2nd favourite JRPG ever), 4, and 5, and I really like the Yakuza series. I do not have much else to add right now, other than that I am incredibly excited to try out these games. I have heard nothing but great things about the first two games.
As someone who grew up with the Dreamcast and backed Shenmue III on Kickstarter, I just want to see Ryo’s story finally get an ending.
At this point, I honestly think the best shot is Yu Suzuki working with SEGA and using the Dragon Engine. But it absolutely can’t feel like Shenmue wearing a Yakuza skin.
Keep what makes Shenmue… Shenmue. The orchestral soundtrack, the erhu music, the quiet atmosphere, and the feeling of exploring real places all need to stay.
If they’re using the Dragon Engine, then the QTEs and chase scenes should be incredible. Shenmue basically introduced QTEs, so they should lean into that and make them cinematic and exciting.
For those of us who’ve been here since the Dreamcast days, throw in some classic SEGA arcade games, Ryo’s notebook, and even a few old sound effects as little nods to the fans who never gave up on this series.
At the same time, they need to modernize it. Shenmue III’s pacing was just too slow for today’s audience. Keep the deep martial arts lore, but tighten up the gameplay, make the combat smoother, and give new players a solid recap so they can jump in without feeling completely lost.
I used to be one of those people who wanted Shenmue to never change. Not anymore. If borrowing some ideas from Like a Dragon is what it takes to get Shenmue IV made and finally give us the Ryo vs. Lan Di ending we’ve been waiting decades for, I’m all for it.
What do you guys think? Would you be okay with a more modern take on Shenmue if it meant we finally got the ending?
The day that Shenmue is ever released on the Switch 2, I would want this to be the actual cover of the game on the Switch 2 because it just looks like a really fitting poster and it tells you everything you need to know about Shenmue without overdoing it.
If Sega actually cared and listened to the fans, they would have done this a long time ago.

The recent news of Virtua Fighter Crossroads getting government funding from the Japanese government involving what's called the IP360 initiative has me thinking: what if Shenmue got that same level of funding and money put into it from that same initiative, but it was enough to basically not only fund Shenmue IV but give us Shenmue V as well. And with RGG and Yu Suzuki at the helm, this would finally give the Shenmue community the victory that we've been waiting for when it comes to Shenmue.

I loved Shenmue 1 and 2 in the early 2000s. With plans of finally playing the 3rd, I replayed one and two. But I have to say, the originals lost their shine. I got bored with Shenmue one at some point in disc 2 or 3 (dreamcast) and then stopped. I jumped ahead to Shenmue 2. It was better. But by disc 3, it felt like a chore. Repetitive and boring QTEs to go up or down buildings. Plus, I won I think every fight in the game except the wrestler and the final fight by simply hitting punch or kick repeatedly. I was absolutely ready for it to be over at disc 4. I had no interested in talking to Shenhua when it was optional, I just chose "We should hurry" during the dialogue prompts. Basically I didn't enjoy any of disc 4 except some of the cut scenes.
So, do you think I can enjoy Shenmue 3, or am I done with the series?

I never won the Mini Excite QTE prize. What does the guide mean by this? I remember there was a rumour about a secret move or something.
The old man seen in the Project Berkley trailer in a snowy region of China doing a palm thrust with his hands is most likely the same guy in Shenmue Chapter Card 6 guiding Ryo into a horse stance position.
His name might be Zhou Sihai according to the artwork releases shown by Shenmue Dojo earlier in the year.
It's my favorite song in the franchise but it's strangely missing from the soundtrack on Spotify. Any ideas why?
The new Virtua Fighter Crossroads trailer revealing one of the new antagonists of the Bakunawa Killer is literally moving and acting exactly like Lan Di, even down to the hand motions, arms behind his back, the way that he's carrying himself, the fast precision of his moves is clearly the Tiger Swallow Style.
Sega is just teasing the Shenmue fans at this point.
Performance is perfect now. Completely fixed and awesome in VR. I had to replicate and call each function from the game on every hit. It was a crazy amount of work to figure out how to fix the performance and took me days. Understandably it's going to stay early access for now but it will be included in the 2.0 public release.

Shenmue3Enhanced literally got called out by people when they announced the price for both the Collector's and Special Editions and that it was too much of an ask to spend a thousand dollars on it, but GTA VI pricing it's Ultimate Edition around $100 with barely any gameplay already has people pulling out their wallets and ready to spend their life savings on it.
You can say what you want about Shenmue3Enhanced taking too long to come out or whatever, but at least we got a trailer with gameplay and what's going to be in there and we knew what was going to be in it. GTA VI barely has any gameplay and was delayed several times (kinda like Shenmue 3 was) but at least with Shenmue 3, there were many interviews with Yu Suzuki saying what the gameplay was, we saw trailers after trailers after trailers, and there was even a demo released, Rockstar has kept delaying GTA VI multiple times, and when they released their pre-order trailer for it, people willingly just jumped off of their chairs to go buy it immediately with no ounce of gameplay.
I'm not hating on GTA VI and I really do hope people enjoy it, but it's just interesting to see the mentality when it comes to Shenmue3Enhanced vs GTA VI.
