I’ve been doing this route back and forth since inception. So have many of my friends and relatives. Its first class is crazy expensive (in money or points) and the food is beyond terrible! * Also, at these prices we don’t get an airbus or new plane. The plane is old, DIRTY, small, TV’s are the size of my cellphone, seats are so slim even when they are laying flat!
The menu hasn’t changed either! ( as a diamond member I have complained each time.) Same short ribs, chicken or fish they never seem to have! Don’t order vegan / vegetarian/ Halal or Kosher, they are the same… some rice beans and veggies that stink up the plane! The flight attendants felt so badly that they gave me free miles on the spot for those! They knew it was disgusting and were so helpful. I bring my own food now.
Lastly, be prepared to change your schedule as Mt Etna has been moody this summer! They closed the airport and diverted flights but this is no fault of Delta of course.
