1500 vs 2500

Hey All,

Need your opinions on what truck should get. I want a truck for lifestyle reasons. Camping, house projects, having a truck for the family. I recently lemon’d my old 21 5.3 and need a new truck. I want a more simple truck. So ideally an RST with the z71 (want 4lo) and possibly leather (could get it aftermarket after). Other than that I want reliable. After looking around, some optioned 2500 LT’s are not too much more money (~10k difference). Is it crazy to want to buy a 2500 (Edit: GAS, not diesel) for reliability. Gas is worse, but I’d also get a standard bed too.

What are your thoughts?

*I got a nice check back so I’m working with more money then a usual person buying a new vehicle (at least more money to me then usual)

Thanks!

Edit: I totally forgot to add, but I hardly ever tow anything. I probably use my old truck to tow a dump trailer, maybe four or five times.

Shift to park

Obviously been seeing online this is a common issue, and the zip tie method did not work. The shift to park message doesn’t come on every time but becoming increasingly more common. 2022 Trailboss. Anyone take it to a dealership to get fixed? What was the cost?

Grill & Bowtie Recommendations

Hey guys. Just got done installing some Morimoto XB headlights on my truck after my previous headlights turned yellow & cracked. They were $300 headlights, but decided to spend on some quality headlights. Happy with the results and lighting output at night. Definitely worth the money… just wanted some recommendations wether i should keep the grill chrome or buy a black one? If so will a 2015 grill fit on a 2014 grill assembly? And does anyone know a link where i can buy black bowties? Thanks again…. Planning on replacing front bumper as well to a forerunner bumper.

2023 Silverado LTZ Z71

Looking for opinions:
I found a Silverado I like, OTD is about 41k, truck is single owner, regular oil changes and has 66k miles on it. The dealership is a Chevy dealer offering lifetime powertrain warranty.

Does this seem like a good deal?

It’s not going to be a daily driver.

2026 Silverado 1500 2.7L (8L90) – Seeing 214°F Transmission Temps on I-10. Normal or Worth Upgrading the Cooler?

Hi Yall,

I’m looking for some advice and real-world experiences from other 2.7L/8L90 owners.

I have a 2026 Silverado 1500 2WD with the 2.7L TurboMax and 8L90 transmission. The truck does not have the Max Trailering Package.

Recently, I made a road trip from San Antonio, TX to Southern California. I make this trip about three times a year, usually with around 400 lbs of cargo in the bed, but I’m not towing.

On the hotter parts of the trip, the outside temperature was close to 100°F, and I was cruising around 70–80 mph. While climbing some of the long, gradual grades on I-10 through West Texas and the Southwest, I noticed the transmission temperature on the dash reached 214°F. The engine RPM stayed fairly steady between 1,500 and 2,000 RPM, and the transmission didn’t seem to be hunting between gears.

Once the outside temperature dropped to around 75°F later that evening, the transmission temperature came back down and stayed around 190°F during normal highway driving.

The truck never displayed a “Transmission Hot” warning or showed any signs of abnormal shifting.

My questions are:
Are these temperatures considered normal for this truck under these conditions?

Has anyone else with a 2025–2026 2.7L/8L90 seen similar temperatures on long highway grades?

For those who frequently drive through hot climates have you installed an auxiliary transmission cooler? If so, what kind of temperature reduction did you see?

Has anyone installed the PPE auxiliary transmission cooler on a 2026 2.7L? I’m interested in real-world results and whether you noticed any downsides.

From a longevity standpoint, would you be comfortable seeing occasional 210–214°F temperatures a few times a year, or would you recommend upgrading the cooling system to reduce long-term wear on the transmission fluid and transmission?

I’m planning to keep this truck for a long time, so I’m trying to be proactive rather than waiting for problems. I’d appreciate hearing from anyone with similar experience or anyone who has monitored transmission temperatures on long desert highway trips.

Thanks in advance!

2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 turns over but won’t start

I’ve had this truck since mid-April and it has started right away with no issues up until two days ago. I’ve checked the crank and ignition fuses and they are okay. I appreciate any help!

ETA: I can hear the fuel pump running briefly after releasing the key.

Most Unpatriotic Truck Award

All day I was looking forward to taking my family to our local firework show tonight in my new-to-me 2022 6.2L Custom TrailBoss. I had daydreamed of all of us squeezing in the front bench seat so my toddler and baby could sit with my wife and I and watch. Or we could have sat in the truck bed for the real experience as the burning freedom glistened off of the freshly washed paint.

But that all shit the bed when it couldn’t even make it out of the driveway. Shuttered and died, like a lil bitch. I’m hoping it’s just the fuel module. The guy said it’s their 3rd one in 3 days. Oh well, I feel like a true member of the group now.

Mods on a 25 custom double cab 1500?

Got a double cab custom as a staring off truck. Since I’ve been able to drive a rst at the moment. The difference is the, it’s a crew cab with the digital display and bigger touchscreen. It’s also 4wd while mines is 2wd. I didn’t even realize the different trims within a custom. By me not having all those bells and whistle. I’m not paying a lot of money for mines.

I don’t really need 4wd so that’s not a big deal to me. But now I’m starting to not like my custom as much. But very grateful to have a brand new truck though. My plan was when I got the truck to keep it a year or two then trade it. So until then what mods could I do or have you done if you have a custom. To make look more idk what the word, just not plain.

2024 Silverado 2500 DRL Override Question

Looking for some honest feedback from anyone running an amber DRL Override module on a 2024 Silverado 2500.

I’m intentionally not naming the manufacturer because I’m still actively working with their technical support, and I want to give them the opportunity to resolve the issue before drawing any conclusions. I’m simply looking to see if anyone else has experienced something similar.

The module has been anything but plug-and-play. The passenger-side turn signal doesn’t work, and the passenger DRL randomly switches between white and amber. It’s intermittent and honestly looks ridiculous when it happens.

The manufacturer reviewed my installation photos and confirmed everything was installed correctly. As another troubleshooting step, I removed the module and plugged the factory harness back in. As soon as I did, everything worked perfectly again—both turn signals, DRLs, and no intermittent issues.

Their solution has been to send me a resistor that requires me to install T-taps into my factory wiring. My concern is that I spent nearly $200 on what was advertised as a plug-and-play product, and now I’m being asked to modify my factory harness just to make it work.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did adding a resistor permanently solve the issue? Is this a known problem with the 2024 2500s, or did I just happen to get a defective module?

I’m genuinely looking for honest experiences before I cut into my factory wiring. Thanks in advance.

Happy Birthday America the beautiful!

250 years in the making and although the world is constantly in chaos. We don’t always agree with the choices people make. But at least we are free to make those choices! I can’t think of a place I would rather call home than America! From sea to shining sea, I am proud to be an American.

Also where I can buy 2 different type vehicles and always have the right to worry which will break down 1st🤣🫡
God bless America and here 🍺is to another 250 years of freedom! 🇺🇸

Projector housing for ‘26 Custom

I’ve got a couple sets of Lasfit LED bulbs that I’d love to use but obviously not going to put them into the stock halogen housing. Does anyone make a projector headlight assembly that I could use these bulbs with?
