first ever skeb commision went horrible

i've been using vgen for a bit and decided to try out skeb. i submitted a request for an artist who's work i adore, and it got approved the next day. ten days later i get the notification that it was finished. i open the art, and it literally looks like a work in progress.

there's random different bright red and orange colored lines around the face and nose area that clash against the white skin and aren't present on any other of their works. the artist always includes a signature and at least a graident/small sqaure of color for a background, but neither of those are present on my commision. there is no rendering done on mine while every single other drawing on their account has extremely beautiful and detailed rendering. mine looks like a sketch lazily done while the rest are beautiful pieces. there was also still two weeks left on the deadline, so timing wasn't an issue either.

the worst part? i paid 1.5x the recommended amount because i wanted to show support for their work, and hopefully get a better piece. i instead got easily the worst thing they've drawn on their account and it feels like i've just been scammed. i'm hoping it's an accidental upload of a work in progress, but the chances of that are low and i know im just coping at this point.

how often does stuff like this happen to you all? because this experience has really turned me off of using the platform in the future, even though i've found so many other artists who i want to commision, i'm scared this will happen again.

Shoujo style artist recommendations?

Hello,

recently I discovered the art of lyrishidumu or Rifuru as she is most famously known. She is quite famous for making female centered content. To put it bluntly I’m in absolute love with her art style. however she does not offer any commissions and as such would like to know if y’all had any more artist who have this similar Josei x BL mix art style.

All credits to her - https://x.com/lyrishidumu

EDIT - I meant josei, it shoujo. Screwed that one up.

What are you using to share references?

Lately this been going in my mind with how AI and consent been getting worse. Few weeks ago, there was this drama on the JP side where a client's finished skeb was stolen by another client and got AI to alternate the design to claim as their own OC. And recently there was the scraping tragedy over at Cara... it made me thinking about how much I too should be think about protecting even my references of my OCs since those are both my own art AND commissions.

I used to use GDrive but knowing Google so I left it years ago. Im using Notion now as its very flexible for text and image uploading; but the team behind is openly pro-AI.

Been thinking about making my own website to host the references and thinking of security key ... but might that be too much just to share references for art commissions? 😂

Do you think securing the reference and art comms matter?

Do I wait for the commission to be done before sending in another idea?

I just to hear from other from their experiences.

Also I was planning to ask an artist to do 4koma, how well can they understand English or understand the idea?

Artist didn't send all files

I ordered 3 images, but the artist only delivered 2 (even though 3 was clearly written in the request and they were bullet pointed). I figure this is just a mistake, but I don't know how to contact them to get the missing piece. Skeb doesn't seem to provide any recourse for situations like this...

No Deadline

I ordered a Skeb three weeks ago and it doesn't have a deadline. Is it ok to contact them to ask how it's going? I've already worked with this artist before and they finished my first order in a week so I'm just a bit concerned that it's taking this long and that there's no deadline listed.

I commissioned this artist, base price 500 yen. They haven't accepted my request and when I checked back they raised their price to 4000.

I'm not sure if I should cancel now, since im not sure if they would accept it atp

Should I cancel a request if I think an artist will not accept?

I sent in my request to this person and after I did they posted a tweet where they said they can not accept fan art or copyrighted materials, and my guess is that is it targeted at me?

I am a little bit unsure though

I was waiting for this artist to open up their skeb for a few months now and I immediately sent a request once they opened. So the timeframe from when they sent out their first tweet and their follow up was around 10 minutes and if you look at my reference, it looks like an OC reference sheet. (cause I made it)

It has been 2 hours though so I am thinking my character looks like fanart for someone else and they didn't accept because of that, but I am also thinking maybe I am overthinking it and I should wait it out.
