Is face serum not for everyone?

So i'm not used to apply all the skincare stuff, i get applied common family moisturizer from a young age. As the skincare trend boosted...it caught my eye.

few years ago, I decided to usual basic skin care: face wash -> moisturizer -> sunscreen. Also got names like toner, serum. Got some knowledge about tanning, healthy skin, fake skin care blah blah blah.

I decided to use serum as my face has good chance of improvement, i got minimalist salicylic acid serum and derma co niacinamide serum as i have oily skin with acne and black heads and white heads.

but it felt very weird for few days its like i could feel serum on my face & felt uncomfortable, i washed it off fully then just applied moisturizer.

then i never used serum.

I only use face wash then moisturizer then sunscreen, it has greatly helped me but i want that clear smooth skin .

Might be my application method was wrong? or these brands are not suitable for me? or my skin is sensitive ? , like a fear type of thing has occur that it appears like a plastic film on face...What should i do?

(should've shown skin but not comfortable in that)

Got Endolift done, honest review from someone who actually tried it ✅

ok so i finally caved and got endolift done at elixify clinic in chennai and omg why did i wait so long 😭 basically it's this laser thing they put under ur skin to break down fat + boost collagen no cuts, no stitches, literally walked out same day. was lowkey scared but it felt like mild warmth, ngl. had some swelling for like a week but nothing crazy. now my jawline is actually snatched and ppl keep asking what i changed but can't figure it out that's the vibe tbh. not surgery, not fake looking, just… better. def worth the consultation at least fr 🙏

My wedding’s in 2 months and i’m trying to look less dead before it 😭

Never cared about skincare/haircare much before but now every relative keeps reminding me “shaadi aa rahi hai” so here we are 💀

Main issue rn is dull skin, tan and hair looking dry all the time because of work + bad sleep.

Started using a rosemary spray and this tomato soap recently. Not expecting some crazy glow up but my skin does look a bit fresher than before and hair feels less rough too.

Still feel like I should add something else though because wedding photos are forever and I do NOT wanna look tired in every picture 😭

What are you guys using before weddings/functions? Keep it simple please because I know I’m not gonna follow some 10 step routine

hyperpigmentation around my mouth n chin is making me crazy

okay so i've had this for almost two years now. darker patches specifically around the corners of my mouth and along my jawline. not acne scars exactly, more like uneven tone that just sits there and doesn't budge.

tried vitamin c serums - two different ones. did nothing noticeable in 3 months. tried niacinamide which helped a tiny bit with overall glow but not pigmentation

i have sensitive skin so i can't just go in with strong actives. every time i've tried something with a higher percentage of anything my skin gets redness, small breakouts in areas i don't normally break out.

someone mentioned kojic acid to me recently. i'd heard of it but always associated it with harsh soap bars my mom used to buy. apparently the newer formulations are different? more balanced ph and combined with other stuff so it's not as stripping.

has anyone with sensitive skin specifically tried kojic acid products? like not the soaps but actual skincare.

what was your experience and how long before you saw something?

also does anyone know if kojic acid interacts badly with anything. i use a basic moisturiser and sunscreen, nothing else active right now

Anyone on isotretinoin?

It’s my day 3 on isotretinoin 20 mg,from past 2 days,my body is feeling tired, constant brain fog, fatigue,i don’t feel like doing anything, has anyone gone through this? Idk if it’s only me,please help

Holy grail for hyperpigmentation!💅

Guys Ive tried everything. From Diy scrubs to detan treatments. None of them worked for my pits . Shaving = bumps & pigmentation, Waxing = HELLA PAIN
Recently ive switched to an Epilator machine. so basically it pulls the hair from the roots without any pain and it doesn’t cause any irritation. Hyperpigmentation is due to the excess production of melanin in our body which totally depends on your lifestyle ( diet, exercise , stress , shower routine )and it’s completely natural . weight loss helps in the reduction of hyperpigmentation? true to some extent. Coming back to my routine
just shower , use an exfoliating scrub ( loofah ) , pat dry the area ,use the machine , wash , pat dry , use a glycolic acid toner to scrub off the excess buildup and dead skin ,use NIVEA crème and youre done. Just be consistent. Ive noticed great change in just 4 days and im sure it will work for you guys as well .

Desperately need help or suggestions 🙏

Hey guys!
So here it goes…
I’ve had hormonal acne since puberty, so naturally I have pores on my face and I have dry skin
Around 4 months ago, my skin barrier damaged, I still don’t know the exact cause of it, but it could be due to over exfoliation or too much sun exposure or both.
My skin is finally healing but now I have these very much visible blackheads and whiteheads all over my face.
Idk what to do about it, I’ve had them removed twice but its not improving at all, it looks so bad
I have no idea what kind of face mask I should use and I’m scared to use an exfoliant.
My current routine is : Cetaphil cleanser, Tony moly ceramide toner, The Ordinary Niacinamide serum, Bioderma barrier repair moisturizer.

What should I do now?
Any kind of advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 🥺🙏 I’m very desperate to make it better🥲
Thankyou in advance 🫶

Help a beginner build a routine for forehead bumps and uneven skin texture.

I’m (23M) looking for some advice on how to clear up my skin.

My Skin Type: Oily

I have these small, persistent bumps. I’m not sure if they are closed comedones or fungal acne. They don't really itch, but they won't go away. Also I have some uneven texture, open pores/blackheads, and a few faint dark marks left behind from old spots. And Some minor texture right around the edges of my facial hair.

Current Routine:

I currently do not use any products or have any skincare routine at all. I just wash my face with Nivea Face wash.

Since I am a total beginner, I need help building a basic, simple routine from scratch. I want to clear out the texture, get rid of the forehead bumps, and fade the dark spots.

Please suggest some solutions. It would be great help indeed.

Thanks in advance.

Clear skin

Hi Guys Need skincare routine suggestions for uneven texture, comedones & glow (M, India)

Hey everyone, I need some help figuring out a skincare routine based on my skin concerns.

My concerns:
- Uneven skin texture / bumpy skin
- Closed comedones / clogged pores
- Uneven skin tone and dullness
- Want smoother, clearer skin and overall better appearance

Current routine:
- Face wash (still confused about which one to start with)
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen (planning to use regularly)

Planning to start:
- Tretinoin 0.025% (but haven’t started yet)

Hair routine (if relevant):
- Minoxidil 2x daily
- Finasteride
- Biotin tablets

About my skin:
- Not sure if oily/combination skin
- I mainly struggle with texture, clogged pores, and uneven skin

I need suggestions for:

  1. A simple and affordable skincare routine (available in India)
  2. Which face wash would suit me better — salicylic acid face wash or a gentle face wash?
  3. Whether I should start tretinoin now or first fix my basic routine
  4. Best products for closed comedones, texture, and glow
  5. Any beginner mistakes to avoid

Would really appreciate product suggestions and routines that actually worked for you 🙏

Forehead texture that just won’t go away. Any ideas?

Hi Reddit! First time posting here, so I’d really appreciate any help.
I’ve been dealing with this stubborn texture on my forehead for a while now and I honestly can’t figure out what it is. Some days it looks better, other days it’s way more noticeable, and sometimes I also get small breakouts with it.
I’ve tried pretty much everything for several months at a time:
Tretinoin and adapalene
A fungal acne-safe routine
Barrier repair with ceramides/cholesterol/fatty acids
Azelaic acid, niacinamide, BHA, AHA, etc.
Nothing has really made it go away. The only things that seem to calm it down a bit are Avène Cleanance Comedomed and the Sungboon Editor Green Tomato ampoule, but even then, the texture is still there.
For context, I do get keratosis pilaris on my arms, so part of me wonders if this could be something similar on my forehead? Or maybe closed comedones, folliculitis, clogged pores, irritation… I honestly don't know what it is.
I attached photos of how it looks. It changes depending on the day/lighting/angle.
Has anyone had something like this? What would you try next, or what should I ask a dermatologist about?
Thanks so much!
