Thoughts on my routine

Thoughts on my routine

Curious to get everyone's thoughts on my current rotation! I’ve finally managed to lock down a routine that keeps my skin deeply hydrated, clear, and glowing, but I'm always open to optimization.

My top 3 personally are:

1. Guerlain Gold Essence
This is my third time repurchasing this, and hands down, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever tried. It gives my skin that plump, youthful bounce and acts as the ultimate lightweight first step before layering on serums and moisturizers.

2. Bonjout Beauty La Crème
What is there even to say? Formulated by a French pharmacist, the absorption and skin-feel are phenomenal. It honestly feels more luxurious than most of my ultra-high-end products and leaves behind a super-polished finish.

3. Chanel Le Lift Crème Huile
This is such a gorgeous treat for the skin. It absorbs nicely and leaves a very subtle, sophisticated micro-shimmer that reads as a natural, healthy glow rather than actual glitter. It feels and looks incredible, though I strictly save it for going out rather than lounging at home!

If you have any extra questions about any of the other products listed feel free to ask :)

I look like I have a sunburn after using Calecim Pink Serum!

I used the Pink Serum for the first time last night. When I woke up in the morning, my entire face looked as red as a tomato, was hot AF, and looked and felt like I had a bad sunburn, stripped of any moisture, it was so dehydrated. I've been soothing my skin all day today.

The research I did on the Pink Serum prior to purchasing it led me to understand that the exact opposite reaction would be achieved i.e. to "reduce downtime, procedure discomfort and swelling, improvements in skin hydration, softness, and overall radiance". It can literally be used after a chemical peel or microneedling, neither of which I did. Prior to my first use, I even asked Calecim directly if I can use my 0.5 retinol in the same routine, they said it was perfectly fine. I've been using the Young Goose Bio-Retinol for 9 months, so my skin is fully acclimated to it, plus its very moisturizing.

I'm curious if anyone might share some insight into possible causes, or if you've had a similar reaction to the Calecim Pink Serum.

Alternative to Plated Intense

Does anyone have a an alternative to plated intense that they love? I’ve been using it nightly and just ran out and I’m wondering if there’s something else I could try for the next bottle!

Eye Cream/serum Comparison

I hit my 30s and started to see dark circles, thinner skin and lines under my eyes. Eye serum is the LAST upgrade on my list because I never believed an expensive one would actually do anything. The changes I’ve noticed in the last year or two feel pretty dramatic to me - I really want to slow this process down if I can!

I use: PM .025% tret and layer that under dr. Jart’s ceremide eye cream + sunscreen
AM: MediK8 adv liquid peptide under Dr. Jarts (Medik8 adv was a recommendation from this sub and I LOVE IT)

I can’t spend $270 on Sulwhasoo Ultimate S eye cream (though I’d like to) - what alternatives have you tried and stuck with?

Also looking for input on Alastin vs Plated. Did you see a difference? How long do those bottles last you?

If you’ve been using the same serum or cream for years, let me know why!

What are your favorite OTC products that contain retinAL (not retinOL)?

My current one, Noon Charisma 1% (middle strength), has been doing well for my skin, but it’s Retinol. Costs about $130 per bottle. I previously used for years a retrinAL product and liked it a lot, but I actually think the Noon has given me better visible results. I saw a video saying Retinol has to convert twice to be effective but retinal only converts once and that’s better. So now I think I may want to switch to a retinAL product that others have had great results with.

If you were going to spend money on one serum that isn’t vitamin c, what would it be?

I’m currently using prescription Tret and azelaic acid. I have a good vitamin c serum from skin better science but am looking for one that helps with fine lines and hollowing!

Looking for cannabinoid centered products

I like the idea of dieux's deliverance serum with the cannabinoid complex, but I'm not a big fan on the niacinamide. I'm not looking for cbd cream for recreational purposes btw lol. I want something that is cosmetic elegant and doesn't feel scammy/ low quality. thank you!!

Obagi Hydro Drops Review

For context, I am 53, post menopausal with normal to dry skin. I purchased the hydro drops after seeing them on the Costco website and thought I’d give them a try. I apply after my serums and mist just before. I then apply moisturizer and sunscreen. I cannot speak highly enough about the positive difference these have in my skincare routine. My skin is so much more plump and smooth that it is honestly unbelievable. The most astounding is my neck. My neck feels tight and smooth again……not like a menopausal woman neck🤣
My skin also stays hydrated throughout the day as before sometimes I would start to feel a little dry in the afternoon. I am in love with this product and will definitely continue to repurchase. I am curious if anyone has tried the one for the eyes and if it worth the separate purchase?

Medicube booster age r pro review

Soooo I was tempted by the device for a very long time. Then in 2026 I saw the theom device, and really wanted to pick one up because my skin has been a mess. Like I had great skin previously and I used to use gua sha, but like nothing really helped much. Info - I'm on tret 0.05 , and have 0.5 ml HA filler in my under eye. I also considered the quadthera, but it's unbelievably expensive. The first time I tried it it hurt but as I kept on using it - the pain subsided (tho the middle of my forehead still hurts a bit from the device). I use it once a day according to my needs. My skin doesn't feel the pain as much anymore. However my skin has never been better. The acne's reduced, my skin is actually glowing, the dark spots are fading on my skin. I don't use any of their products except their pdrn under eye cream. It feels more lifted and better geniuenly, like people have noticed the difference type difference. I have my own skincare routine obviously and don't just buy whatever they are pumping out at points just for the trends. So I geniuenly think it's worth the buy if you know how to use it. I no longer need to use micro needling or deep chemical peels. I know this sounds like I am glazing but like deadass I am not, this has helped me tremendously. Also don't use it on slippery wet skin, more like low-key damp , like it has to be damp enough for you to be able to properly glide or use it and not bone dry, like a certain sweet spot- because when u use it on slippery wet ish skin it hurts a lot more. I have been using it for a month.

And have your own skincare routine to go with it , not just their line. And no I don't use it after tret , before it obv. But people can obviously have their own bad experiences, however my experience was so good that I had to write this review. I rarely review stuff. Hope this helps someone . This geniuenly works when you use it properly, and has cut down on my other skin care expenses a lot. PSA not an add just a really good experience. Xx

TLR lovers: what did you switch to?

I know this has been asked before but I’m specifically looking for recommendations from people who loved Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Restore but had to switch to something else.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with TLR. I LOVE everything about it except for the essential oils/fragrance.
My skin used to tolerate it in the past but lately I wake up with flushed warm skin whenever I use it at night. I’ve given it way too many chances, so I think it’s finally time to move on.

For those who had to make the switch- what did you replace it with?
Looking for the closest alternatives that are fragrance-free and essential-oil-free. Other than Skinfix and Dieux please!

Best bakuchiol serum/essence?

I started using a bakuchiol eye cream about 4 months ago and had astonishing results. I then added a bakuchiol face serum, but bought the first thing I found. Looking for the best possible serum/essence to get this glorious ingredient into my face. It’s a newer thing in the market so harder to find solid reviews.

TNS Advanced Serum Smells Like Nail Polish Remover?

I just bought TNS Advanced + for the first time and it has a crazy strong chemical astringent smell kind of like acetone nail polish remover. That’s not normal is it? I bought it from Dermstore, which I think is an authorized retailer and it has a batch number and expiration date in 2028. Can anyone let me know what it’s supposed to smell like? Has mine gone bad?
