Getting my Elroq 85 in August – range, comfort and owner questions

Hi everyone!

We’ll soon be picking up our Skoda Elroq 85 on a long-term lease at the beginning of August. It’s a Clever trim with the Lodge interior, and it’s a stock vehicle produced earlier this year (so not the MY2027 version).

I’m really excited about moving from an almost 10-year-old manual diesel car to a very modern EV. I’ve done a lot of research already, but I still have a few questions that I’d love to ask people who use the car every day.

1 - What real-world range are you getting on the highway at 110 km/h and 130 km/h with normal use (A/C in summer, heating in winter), between 80% and 10% battery?

2 - I know my version doesn’t include one-pedal driving or Side Assist. How does Traffic Jam Assist actually work? Does it perform complete stops using the brakes?

3 - What essential accessories for this vehicle (or EVs in general) would you recommend buying?

4 - During the 45-minute test drive I had, I was really impressed by the driving comfort (road noise, lack of vibrations, etc.). We tested a model with 20" wheels, but the one we’re getting has 19" wheels. Is the difference between the two noticeable?

5 - More generally, for people coming from an ICE vehicle, what do you appreciate the most about this car? And for people who already came from another EV, what do you like most about this specific model?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Elroq vRS three weeks in observations

G'Day.

Back again now that I've got 3000km under the belt with some decent trips around Ireland and into the UK. Some of this is just on the Elroq and the rest is my experience in moving from a Octavia diesel vRS to an EV. Let's start with the car....

Bear in mind I drive commercially so my perspective will be different..

  • HUD I don't think is needed but probably because of what I do in the car. First of all the display is highly customisable on position, brightness and data. But if I use the standard white display or the 'snow' display which is in blue, I find myself ignoring it all the time. I would imagine if you were using it for Sat Nav it would be ideal, but I tend to use Waze on the phone attached to the windscreen and I can't see myself changing that.
  • The central display is completely customisable which is fantastic. So you can get rid of Laura and other stuff you don't need and put in what suits you best.
  • On the central display there is a circular icon where you can go from radio to iTunes or similar and that's a great shortcut.
  • The easy open boot has been disabled owing to it randomly opening whenever someone is around it (presumably with a key). This is a known issue supposedly solved in an update, maybe my one is ultra sensitive. In the Octavia you just had a foot waggle to open the boot that I much prefer.
  • Also with the boot it shuts kind of fast for my liking and would not like to try and see if the dog gets crushed.
  • The adjustable steering wheel is excellent but I can't find a comfortable anchor point for my arm against the door as it's sloped so you can't rest on it,and have your hand in the 3 o'clock steering wheel position for hours with no issues. Meaning I need to move from hand to hand on long journeys.
  • The blind spot indicator is recessed into the mirrors so only you and not any traffic can see them. That's a nice touch and they are pretty obvious and clear.
  • The lane assist is gentler than the Octavia but still gets switched off.
  • The speed limiter is not too intrusive but still gets switched off.
  • There are two tiny fly windows just past the mirrors that help orientate where you are when going around low speed bends in estates etc. Useful.
  • The dog has no problem getting into the boot as there's a plastic instep she uses to get a grip as she jumps in.
  • The speedo is out by -3km/h not a big issue but surprising and wonder if this has an effect on the car data.
  • At 50% battery usage I had completed 230km and the range I had left was 216km??

Now onto the 'new to EV part'

  • Most pleasant learning curve is on the regen. I love it. I'm used to engine/gear breaking in manuals so this is pretty much a better thing. I do wish it had one pedal regen (so comes to a complete stop) but R3 works fine for me and gives you great control on every single aspect of driving. I am told the brake lights come on depending on the deacceleration and would love to find out what the sweet point is.
  • Hills, or more accurately slopes are such a huge factor on your kWh/100km just looking at your economy take a massive hit. No surprise considering the weight of the car. The question is on the downslopes is, do you use the regen to get range back of just maximise the speed available....
  • I've been driving in coldish weather considering the time of the year. On my various trips I have found: Normal IE (123km/h) motorway driving 20.7kWh (376km). Economical UK motorway driving (60mph) 16.7kWh (433km) Economical IE driving (105 km/h) 17.8kWh (216km) I am assuming this will improve as the weather heats up but I will keep logs.
  • Lastly, as I drive commercially it makes no sense to drive economically if you are going to have range issues. For example, in the UK I drove from Holyhead to Manchester then on to Sunderland. I drove normally to Manchester (70mph) then when I started to drive to Sunderland had to reduce speed to 60mph and made it with 30km range. At 60mph it takes 3 hours to get to Sunderland so you lose 10mph x 3 hours = 30 minutes. You would be better off stopping for 15 minutes at a fast charger so you can go at a normal speed and have a bonus toilet and coffee break.
  • Similarly in IE driving at 104km/h rather than 124km/h means I can do a 440km round trip comfortably with one charge but lose 20km per hour and over the 4 hour trip that's 80km or 45 minutes. Again, with pre-conditioning I can get to 180kw/h charging so you should drive normally and just get a top-up when appropriate.
  • Obviously if it's your money you might have a differing persepctive
  • Lastly, I am going to go for 100% charging on the home charger all the time, mainly because the car is used every day so never stays at 100%. Highway chargers I will stick to 80%+ and just charge more frequently as the drop off rate from 80% is huge.

Happy to hear any comments, observations or criticisms from the community.

Will I get the new updates?

I ordered in January 05, now delivery is set for July, but it is through my work so even if the car gets finished (whenever it does) it will wait until july when i swap. Not sure if I will get the new updates such as android automotive and V2L? I don’t get told when it’s being built, or even done, so i guess it’s just a waiting game but what do you all think?

Elroq buying advice

Hi all,

Currently ordered a Smokey Silver Elroq (SE L trim). But I've not been able to see what the SE L looks like in person, as my dealer doesn't have one.

They've since offered an upgrade to a SportLine - obviously a bit more money, but I'd get it in my preferred colour (Meteor Grey) and it obviously includes the nicer headlights (which I love) and the Electric Boot, which would be nice. I couldn't get Meteor Grey in the SE L trim unless I was prepared to wait 3-4 months which I'm not, I need mine quickly.

It's an extra £30 a month for this though - and I'd lose the winter pack.

Any views on this? I drive 220 miles when I goto work (once a week) so I was a bit worried about the Sportline slightly reduced capacity - but I'd love a Meteor Grey option

Elroq MY2027 – Android Automotive with Google Maps: will POIs be fully up to date?

Hi everyone, I'm planning to buy an Elroq 85 MY2027 and I've been reading about the new Android Automotive-based infotainment system confirmed for mid-2026 production cars, which will include Google Maps natively.

My question is: will Google Maps on Android Automotive behave like the regular Google Maps app on a phone? Specifically:

- Will POIs (restaurants, shops, etc.) be fully up to date in real time, or is it a "lite" version of Maps with fewer/older POIs?

- If I'm logged in with my Google account, will I also see my saved places and lists?

- Has anyone with an early MY2026 build already tried it and can share their experience?

I ask because I use Google Maps constantly on my phone and being able to search for a recently opened restaurant directly from the car's nav would be a game changer for me.

Thanks!

Ignition on

I’ve had my Elroq 85 for three months and every now and then, in the top left corner of the Škoda app, it says that ignition is on. But if I go out to check, the car is locked, mirrors are folded and the car is off. The first time I saw it I panicked a little and went straight out and unlocked it, Set it in D and drove it and reversed, locked it and went back in. Now I’ve started to ignore it a little. The car does not use any battery because of this. But when I park, I put it in park mode before I leave. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just a bug in the app?

First summer with the Elroq, newly installed summer tires ⛱️

Looking forward cruising the highways this summer season with this car. We are pleased on how it performed during this harsh winter in DK! Now it’s towing season as well 💪

High beam assist / ambient lighting options on VCDS?

I don't have matrix lights on my edition 85. Not a massive fan of DLC on a brand new car when it already has the hardware... (especially at the price they want to switch on high beam assist..)

Does anyone know if it's possible to enable high beam assist / control and the ambient lighting options via Obdeleven / Carista / VCDS?

I've done this on previous VAG cars but not sure if it's an option & I'm not currently at home to look myself.

Thanks

V2L adapter

Seems the MY27 will have capability for vehicle to load. In Estonia one can choose the option to add 230V slot in the boot if you buy the transport package. Another option is to buy adapter which would give possibility to plug 230v stuff in the charging port. But seems the local dealer doesnt offer the adapter yet. Where else could I buy one?

Steering wheel button

Hi,

New Elroq owner here and was wondering if the button on the top right of the steering wheel controls should actually do something? Is it just a blank or is mine broken as it just pushes awkwardly, no click.

Thanks

Heat Pump

Hi, quick question: Do I need the heat pump in the Skoda Elroq to preheat the battery so it can charge at full speed at fast chargers? A friend of mine told me that charging would be much slower without the heat pump. Is that true?

Anyone else in Ireland dealing with a vanishing Elroq? (Ordered Dec, no visibility)

Looking for a sanity check. I ordered an Elroq 60 back in December with a Feb estimate. The app then moved to a March 31st - April 13th window, but we’re obviously well past that now.

My dealer is claiming he has zero visibility in the system. Mid March he told me it was about to ship, then early April he told me he could no longer see the status.

This week it’s the same story of no visibility, saying it could arrive "next week or 5 weeks from now".

Has anyone had their car disappear in the dealer system recently? Is this normal?

I feel like there’s something off with this order, and the dealer seems uninterested in getting to the bottom of it.

Charging power blocked @60kW

With my Elroq 85, I’m experiencing a charging power that cannot pass 60kW on 150 or 300KW charger between 20-80%.
I was parked next to same car as mine and I checked: the charging power was above 100KW whereas mine was stuck as 60KW.

Anyone experience this ?
I’m planning a check with the car repair shop

Charging network filter

So in the new app update there is now finally the option to select or filter the charging network. I'm not home right know so i can't test if this option made it to the car. Does somebody know?

Auto hold doesn't work if door is open

I almost crashed my car while parking, because auto hold doesn't activate, if your door is open. Sometimes when I park, I open the door to check where the line goes on ground. If it's ok, I'll just get out. Except the auto hold doesn't activate in this situation and car keeps moving.

Anyone noticed the same? Bug or a feature? If bug where do I report?

Lane assist issues

Every time I ride first time after a week long break, the lane assist doesn’t work, its icon is yellow and there is a message that this functionality cannot be activated. Indeed I cannot enable the lane assist during the ride. But next time I start the ride it’s all working.

Learned that you can turn off A/C🤦‍♂️

You can keep ventilation ON and have A/C OFF if you press the A/C button when it has the green border.
I kept pressing OFF when it was too cold🤦‍♂️

Elroq not connected with MyŠkoda App

I haven't been able to connect to the Elroq app for the last three days.
I've already restarted the Entertainment system. I've logged in and out several times. I've disabled and re-enabled the privacy settings. But nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any advice?
