i still haven’t watched the two embers

i really don’t understand why tgc decided to make their own animation so inaccessible. i remember when the sky animation was first announced and the first teaser trailer released and i was SO EXCITED and it’s crazy looking back on that now knowing that i still haven’t even watched it.

all i want is to be able to sit down and watch the whole thing in one go, which for some reason is a lot harder than it sounds. i’ve seen the first of the four parts in the cinema a fair few times, but i hate the idea of then having to just sit and wait for the right time for the second chapter to start, and then the third and then the fourth so then i just give up.

i told some friends about this problem a few months ago and they told me that you can watch the whole thing uninterrupted on the projector iap. i don’t have the iap but i have a couple spells for the projector so i went to a quiet area in sky (to not be interrupted by players honking or playing instruments), used the spell and sat back to watch. what i didn’t know is that the projector prop works on a timer where specific things are played at specific times, and so the projector threw me straight into the middle of the two embers. since i wanted to watch the WHOLE THING from the beginning i didn’t watch any of it, turning the projector on and off to wait and see when it would end (and then hopefully replay from the start). finally i turned the projector on to see the credits rolling and waited for them to finish, but as soon as the credits finished the spell ended and the projector disappeared.

i understand that i could just have some more patience to wait in between watching each of the four chapters. i also understand that i could look up the schedule for when the projector plays the two embers and then either use one of my two remaining projector spells or find a shared space with one to watch the whole thing. my point is it shouldn’t take that much effort to watch the two embers in the first place and it’s so disappointing to think about that in comparison to how excited i was to watch it when it was first announced. at this point pirating it is easier than actually watching it in game (because as far as i can tell there’s no official way to watch it outside of the game) but of course i don’t want to pirate it because i want to respect the people who made it (which i already have in part because i watched all of the credits for it!) (i’m also not calling all piracy disrespectful please don’t comment on that)

so yeah this is just to express my disappointment in its inaccessibility more than anything else. if anyone has the projector iap and knows the schedule for the two embers and is down to watch it with me then lmk because i’d be very grateful :))

Broken event items

When I bought this item today, it lit up the closet and said I had something to look at. It never showed up and I have an infinite notification on the closet.

I will never understand why this game is social yet most plays hate social behaviors.

Yk the same bs of people being offended that u light them and coming here acting like you assaulted them personally, the people who freely sit on your table then ask u why are u talking to them (it was literally my table and I put it in home I didn't ask them to talk to me or anything).

And it's just weird like why play a social game if you hate being social that much, I do understand not wanting to talk daily I do that too but sitting on my table just to tell me to not talk is wild and this happened 3 times already, like how is a table sitting alone at home bothers u? This game isn't a solo journey game it's a public space for everyone.

Sorry this pissed me off so bad because it kept happening like WTF??? Isn't home a free public space where everyone talk and chat in it?

The d*mn anniversary games 🤬 the physics are working against me

I swear to god 🤬 the jumping physics are the WORST. I don't know how people with capeless accounts manage not stay pissed. I wanted to try the anniversary game in aviary and couldn't even get a 1/4th of the way up, the bridge spins past the next platform which itself is moving up and down, so when I try to jump it either stops me at the edge and drops me or makes me jump slightly over the edge and into a fall. And in the slim chance I actually make it past, the next 4 obstacles are smaller, so I try to jump to the next one and suddenly my jumps are supercharged!? I'm leaping buildings in a single bound?? My jump sends me flying over the next obstacle and straight down. And it's not just the anniversary game either, jumping in this game is a gamble! Try to jump up a small ledge or single step? Jump in place for some reason?! Dragging a spirit to its different spots for daily or something and need to jump? Welp now you're leaping away from the spirit like you've slipped on ice!! I mean ffs I will waste a wing to fly up and float over to where I need to be sometimes just to save myself the annoying trouble of getting stuck on and edge or hurling myself miles away

"Sky community, I just want to know..."

(Photos aren't exactly related, just showing my like five-six years playing this game)

I genuinely don't understand why this community seems so angry at Sky all the time.

I'm not saying you can't criticize the game. There are bugs. There are server issues. There are things TGC absolutely deserves criticism for. But some of the complaints I see make me feel like people forget what kind of game this actually is.

"20 candles a day is terrible."

Okay... but why is there a limit?

Because progression exists. If there wasn't a cap, people would grind hundreds or thousands of candles, buy literally everything, and then we'd be flooded with posts saying there's "nothing to do" or that "the game is dead." Limits aren't always there to waste your time. Sometimes they're there to keep the game enjoyable months or years later.

And Sky was never designed to be "candle running simulator."

The point of the game is exploring, meeting people, making friends, helping strangers, dressing up your Sky kid, experiencing seasons, playing music, and creating memories. Candle runs are just one part of that experience.

The multiplayer complaints confuse me too.

I've seen people get genuinely angry because someone walked past a multiplayer door or didn't stop to help. But... those are real people. Maybe they're talking with a friend. Maybe they're doing a quest. Maybe they're about to log off. Maybe they genuinely didn't see you.

Nobody owes strangers every minute of their play session.

Helping people is kind, and I always appreciate it when it happens, but it isn't an obligation.

Another thing that gets me is how every new feature seems to follow the same cycle.

People ask for something.

The developers spend months making it.

It releases.

Then suddenly it's "Well... I wanted MORE."

Take the dye system.

When it first came out, people complained there weren't enough dye options.

Now we've gotten more options... and people complain the options aren't good enough.

At some point I have to ask: what would actually make people happy?

The artists, designers, coders, and developers are constantly making cosmetics, animations, areas, events, and systems that have to work across a huge range of devices without breaking the game. That's not an overnight process.

Your Sky kid isn't meant to be an infinitely customizable character creator. It's a dress-up system with creative limitations, and honestly, I think those limitations encourage people to make unique outfits instead of everyone ending up with the exact same thing.

The Home vs. Aviary discussion is another example.

People immediately jumped to "They're deleting Home!"

...Where did that even come from?

The survey asked where people preferred spawning and what they'd like to see added to Aviary because Home is intentionally simple while Aviary is an actual village. Asking for feedback isn't the same as deleting something that's been part of the game since the beginning.

And Traveling Spirits...

People used to complain they took forever to return.

Now they're returning more often, making it easier for newer players and people who missed previous seasons to collect things they never had a chance to get.

And now... people complain there are too many.

Not every change is aimed at veteran players. New players deserve opportunities too.

The server complaints are another thing.

Yes, server splits can be annoying.

Yes, disconnects are frustrating.

But Sky is a worldwide online game with thousands of players. Servers split people up to keep the game running. Would you rather everyone be shoved into one instance that's lagging constantly or crashing altogether?

Criticism is healthy.

Bugs should be reported.

Monetization should be discussed.

Features should absolutely be questioned.

But sometimes it feels like parts of this community aren't looking for improvements anymore. It feels like every update has to become the next controversy.

I also think gaming culture in general has become obsessed with instant gratification.

People want content immediately.

They want every feature immediately.

They want every feature to be perfect on day one.

That pressure is part of why so many live service games end up rushing updates or launching unfinished.

Finally, and this is probably the most controversial thing I'll say:

You don't have to play.

I don't mean that in a rude way.

I mean that if every update makes you miserable, if every event frustrates you, if every cosmetic upsets you, if every mechanic annoys you... maybe it's okay to step away for a while.

Games are supposed to be fun.

Sky isn't perfect.

TGC isn't above criticism.

But I wish more people remembered what this game is actually trying to be.

It's not a race to own every cosmetic.

It's not a competition to finish everything first.

It's a social game about slowing down, exploring a beautiful world, helping others when you can, making friends, and creating memories.

Sometimes it feels like we've forgotten that.

Anniversary parade and new Aviary

I absolutely HATE the new arrangement of Aviary Village and it has solidified with me after seeing the parade today. Before the spirits would make a full loop around the maypole and whatnot and the path they have now to accommodate for the new layout is fucking ridiculous. Just a short walk to the back of the portals and then turn around?????? There's still a whole fucking loop they could do. It's fucking ridiculous.

Finally added Moff to the Family (Plushie #12!), but low and behold, he refuses to acknowledge my furniture.

Moff is no better than a rug right now! Only placeable on floors.

Perhaps he doesn't enjoy the layout?

Guys I’m so done with the chat moderation in this game

The moderation is so erratic, like at times it’ll ban certain words and days later the same word is not censored anymore. YK LIKE LMAO.

There’s just so much unnecessary flagging and muting of certain phrases and words. LIKE GUYS PLEASE IM JUST TRYING TO TALK ABOUT PUNK MUSIC 🙃

OR YK WHATS EVEN WORSE SOMEONE WAS TELLING ME ABT HOW THEIR MOM WASNT DOING WELL AND I KEPT GETTING CENSORED BY SAYING UR MOM OR YOUR MAMA. Like seriously cmon, if tgc is gonna be using ai moderation cant they at leat train the ai to detect context or sentiment.

Its just so frustrating the amount of times I’ve been muted. Atp I dont even wanna chat in sky anymore.

shared spaces in social dalies

ill keep it a buck, i havent been able to light anyone at geyser or grandma for weeks becasue everyone is in shared spaces that complete the events automatically. as someone who only really socalizes at these events, collects candles and then logs off, ill be dead honest with you, i hope they remove the use of shared spaces at geyser and grandma. i dont care that people go afk, i dont even care if people dont bring a lamp. what i do care about is being able to have any social interaction while i play the game, what is the point of the cosmetic grind when everyones tucked away in their own little pocket

if i was a moth, joining for the first time in the current game only to be alienated by antisocial players in shared spaces i would probably just quit

WHY CAN'T WE DYE HAIR?

God forbid I wanna walk around with pink hair and cosplay as Rose Quarts before her shattering. WHY cant we dye our hair? That's like, one of the main uses for dye outside of clothes. Who cares about dying accessories, I WANNA DYE MY HAIR.

The new friendship tree pisses me off

I came back after a year and what the fuck is this abomination, I'd prefer using ascended candles over whatever that is. I hate that they didn't refund me for all the emotes I spent now I have to spend more candles for the emotes.

Actually, I hate the new spirit tree in general. TGC giving more useless, pointless updates as usual!

20 candles per day is insane

I still cant believe that you can only collect about 21 candles per day. The effort for this is wayyy to much and it takes way too long of our time to achieve this ridiculous amount of candles. They act like its made out of gold or something. And it literally causes so much FOMO in me cause I dont want to miss out on good items I need candles for later. TGC is really diabolical with that. You need to be unemployed to achieve this and even then it really burns you out. A game is supposed to be fun but TGC does everything to make this feel like an underpaid, exploitative job than a fun game. When I relearned that theres this low limit for daily candles I remembered why i ragequit this game in the first place 5 years ago. Never has a game caused so much rage in me and I swore to myself I'd never come back. Well, here I am again now but the rage is back and I realized how peaceful it was when I forgot about this greedy game.

Will TGC defenders still defend TGC if they changed the lighting in forest in the upcoming update?

I am really curious to know if others will finally recognize that TGC is off running their own game they enjoy for themselves. Not a company making an accessible game for all.

I just seen a video that the next update they will be changing the lighting in forest to be slightly brighter. And just genuinely, GENUINELY, what is this fixing? What benefits from this? These are some questions I keep asking when they keep adding new things that are just unnecessary. They can clearly change the lighting as they please. But yet still cannot even bother making light adjustment be a basic ass setting 😒 when this update comes people will flip their shit over this.

Vault 4 player doors…

Decided to make a quick Vault run to grab the candle cakes for the evening. I got to the four-player door on the first floor at the exact same time as a group of three players.
Perfect! I thought, “Surely they’ll see me honking and help. We literally have enough people standing here.”
Narrator: They did not.
Instead, they ignored me and used a shared space. Two other players wandered over and helped, and we waited to see if even one person from the original group of three would join us.
Spoiler alert: They did not.
Thankfully, my friend showed up, and we finally got the door open. Crisis averted. 😂
It’s amazing how a game that’s built around cooperation can sometimes make you wonder if empathy got left back in Home.

You cant say autism/autistic

Im kind of annoyed. Under any context autistic/autism will get you a warning. The ai moderation sucks in this game. And its rude on top of that. As if autism is a bad word bc its a “bad thing” its fucking ridiculous. I got muted and warned several times just for saying it. I am autistic, wtf is wrong with that? Why am i not allowed to explain that im autistic to others with without the consequences of getting warned or potentially muted for ‘harassment/bullying’ when you dont even understand the context of whats going on??? Its disrespectful and tgc needs to be better and do something about this chat moderation.

Unhelpful People

I know there's been an influx of people talking about how difficult it is to get help with pretty much anything but I wanted to add. Today I had the quest to wave at a player and it took me... way too many tries to even get someone to light my candle let alone pause for me to be able to wave.

I get it. People are busy. They're doing their own thing. Usually I do my own thing since I'm a solo player outside of quests. But if someone comes up to me with their candle lit, I'm gonna light it back and linger around them. That's how I've been since I started in late 2020.
