Skyrim - Update - August 2026
Bethesda Game Studios has announced a new update for Skyrim on consoles, scheduled to release Thursday, August 20th, 2026. This post will serve as an up-to-date thread for what we know now and what will come once the patch goes live, all confirmed details will be added here.
For now, here’s everything we know:
Increased Mod Storage Limits
Bethesda stated that this update will increase mod storage capacity on consoles. They haven't specified how much space we're getting. But this post will be updated once the patch notes are released.
Improvements to Creations
We can only assume it'll be like Fallout 4's, some important ones to note are:
- Archives are now supported on PlayStation. New file types (.nif, .dds, .bink, .cdx, .csg, .wav, and .fuz (with embedded .wav)) for PlayStation Creations.
- Creations up to 2 GB in size can now be uploaded for Xbox.
Load Orders Should Not Be Affected
In the Tweet, they said this update should not disrupt existing load orders. But they encourage players to log into your save game if you haven't done so in a while as a precaution. I guess to save the Load Order using the function in the Creations menu.
Anyway, that's it for now. The previous discussion was technically based on a Tweet made for Fallout 4 and so now this will be the official thread for Skyrim. I hope we are able to provide more useful information here regarding the update. Just because we will have more space, doesn't mean modding guidelines change and I am sure players will experience problems if they aren't aware of what's happening.
Also, I won't be removing the other posts, but I do encourage you guys to discuss things here.
Happy modding! I won't be around much; I have things going on right now, but I will definitely be keeping an eye on this.
