Slings for my little boys.

I made my two boys, 5 and 3, new slings today. I used the leather dimensions from my Pan Sling and use the Neandrthal method for the arms. They’re both about 16 inches. Perfect length for the little guys.

Happy to answer any questions anyone might have.

(The extra loop and knot at the end of the release cord is just a place holder for the cracker loop until I get around to making a couple crackers.)

Closer look at the Twin Loop sling release

Filmed the release from my Twin Loop sling by holding my phone in my hand. Kind of hard to do but luckily only threw my phone once for no damage.

These are it

Pretty sure these are the end kf a long search. Very low bounce, can take a beating, sand core feels really nice in the pouch.

Available by the half-dozen in 200 g, lighter weights only singly but 200 grams may be about right. Will let yall know. Lacross balls, my favorite except for the ridiculous bounce, are about 145g. These are slightly smaller which I prefer.

I will add that at sling speeds a lacrosse ball and certainly these will force themselves right through typical chain link fences. Please make sure you have netting or a proper batting cage for these. I imagine sand would work really well too as a backstop kr to measure distance.

Slinging in the rain

Had a rough day at work and really wanted to get some throws in. Big storm rolled in so I hid under a bridge and decided to keep going. Throwing from this position made me consider the historical need to throw from cover in military or hunting scenarios. Fun food for thought. Happy slinging!

Is this a skill issue or a sling issue?

Hello all! I'm brand new to slinging. I recently purchased a pair of slings from Amazon with the intention of using them for tennis balls, as just a fun, historical thing to get me outside. This is what I purchased: https://a.co/d/04kZOUki

So far, I'm wondering if these are even big enough for tennis balls as they barely fit in the pouch and I'm losing the tennis ball on the back swing or out to the side every time I try and throw them. I'm wondering if this product is iffy or, far more likely, I am doing something wrong. Is there a technique to not lose your missile behind yourself? Or are the balls just simply too big for this? Thanks!

48 inch sling with new pouch

The felt actually did hold up from testing yesterday but i figured since this thing worked better then i thought, i might as well give it something sturdier to sling with.

Its made from some shoelace and some straps i poked holes in with a soldering iron to get a split pouch. i also added a little tape just cause i cant stop using it

Early morning, dad shift

Practice has moved to early mornings while I take my son and dog out to let my wife get some sleep. Not much accuracy work being done, but plenty of distance!

Min-Neandrthal Sling

Get it? Cause it's "Mini"? You know? Egh, whatever...

I made a post earlier about my take on Neandrthal's sling, and mentioned that I had made a small version. Well here it is!

The sling is about 24" long. It's made of microcord, and 1cm x 10cm leather strips. The cracker is made of heavy duty sewing thread that I reverse twisted.

It's a real "zippy" feeling sling, and it rolls up nice and small so you barely even know it's there!

I guess I forgot to take a picture of the two together, but if the "normal sized" Neandrthal sling rolls up to about the size of an average potato, then the Min-Neandrthal sling rolls up to about the size of two large grapes. So doing the math for the conversions, that comes to around a quarter-ish banana 🍌

Let me know what you think!

Score

Today I found roadside a box foll of cool bottles - not old ones, in fact brand new but unique and see finely crafted. Many will be useful and beautiful. Some will be useful in the specific context of slings.

Here's a pic of the best of the slinging ones.

I can't say what they're for, nor could I ever share video or really even talk about anything that may have happened. But right now nothing's been done, just found some really intereeting bottles!

I think I may take a few 2nd and 3rd tier bottles and check out splatter patterns with water or Everclear, just to get an idea and a feel for range and spread of a liquid-filled bottle. I mean, you never know what you might need to know?

You'll probably never sling your best stones, and these jars will sit on my shelves for life. But yeah, something I have been wanting to have as an extreme-range example of what slings can do, and honestly the way things feel now politically amd socially, it may not stay on the wall as long as I'd thought.
