Making Friends in Town

Hi! I have a fun group of girl friends in Kirkland, but I'd love to make friends here too to really explore the area!

About me: late 30s, single, child free, pet free but love animals, professional with an early schedule.

I love playing board games and some cozy video games, read, do crafty things, go for walks and watch reality tv!

I love small group get togethers and more intimate one on one connections. I can be a little introverted at first, but I warm up quick! Have a positive supportive vibe to me. If you are extroverted, please adopt me!

Looking for some gal pals I can do community events with, play games with, try all the restaurants with, have hobby nights with and just build a community here in my town!

Bonus if you would be interested in doing couch25k or learn yoga with me! Let's stay busy this summer!

Edit: I've made a discord for those interested! Just send me a message. I hopefully got everyone that responded!

River Floating

A few of us would love to float a river around here with inner tubes and adult beverages. Does anyone have a recommendation for where we could make this happen?

How to get Ziply into Neighborhood?

I live in Bothell / Mill Creek area in WA state. Our neighborhood was built by a small builder about 8 years ago. The builders made an exclusive deal with Xfinity to lay all the infrastructure for home internet when the neighborhood was being built (don't know if it is legal or not). And now 8 years in, Xfinity is just ripping everyone off by charging more than $200 for home internet, TV and security. For example, I have 1.2 Gig Internet speed, basic channels and security and I am paying about $225/month which is more than $2500/year. And the service is very bad, as we experience outages at least once every 2-3 months.

Some of the homeowners in the neighborhood have reached out to Ziply on and off to see if we can get Ziply into the community. We have been told every time that the cost to bring in the services would be more than what Ziply would make from all of the 16 homes. Since it’s only 16 homes, it’s going to be hard or impossible to get each household to shell out 10’s of $1000’s to pay for Ziply to lay their infrastructure!

As the HOA president, I am wondering if there is any way to get Ziply into the community for trusted reliable service?

Thank you

Casual Soccer for Adults

I'm an adult in their 30s looking for casual soccer games/players. Are there more casual groups that meet up in the evenings anywhere in Snohomish? Just wanting to get back into the game and meet up to play for fun. Hoping there are others already doing the same 😁

I built a free map of every restaurant inspection in Snohomish County

I wanted to make it easier to look up a restaurant's health-inspection history when eating out, so I made this: https://food.snoking.app

It shows every food establishment in Snohomish and King counties, color-coded by their latest inspection from the county health department. Tap any spot to see its full inspection history.

I found it particularly interesting to explore different ways of visualizing the data. You can shade by last rating, average of the last 5, or how much better or worse its rating is compared to peers that serve the same cuisine.

Hopefully you find this as useful as I do - no ads, no account sign-ups, not affiliated with a restaurant. Happy to hear if something is broken or missing!

What's up District 38?!

Hi District 38!!

I'm excited to officially share my campaign flyer as I run for Washington State Representative, Position 1 in the 38th Legislative District.

A few years ago, I never imagined I'd be running for office. I started as a community organizer and disability justice activist with Snohomish County DSA, fighting alongside my neighbors for universal healthcare, tenant rights, workers' rights, and a more just Washington. Through Whole Washington, I've continued organizing for healthcare as a human right because no one should have to choose between getting care and paying the bills.

Today, I'm proud to be running as a democratic socialist candidate rooted in those same values—not because a political machine chose me, but because our community deserves someone who understands what it's like to struggle and who will fight for working people, not corporations.

I'm incredibly honored to have earned endorsements from Progressive Victory and The Voice of the Mountain newspaper. Those endorsements reflect years of organizing, listening, and showing up for our community.

But this campaign is still powered by ordinary people. I don't take corporate PAC money, and every conversation, every volunteer shift, every $20 donation, and every share helps us reach more voters across Everett, Marysville, and the Tulalip area.

If you believe Washington can do better, I'd love to have you with us.

❤️ Volunteer with the campaign.

💵 Chip in a small-dollar donation if you're able.

📣 Share this post and help spread the word.

Together, we can build a Washington that puts people over profit.

My commitment to accessibility. Tomas Scheel, Candidate for WA02

I am Tomas Scheel, candidate for US House of Representatives WA02 and I have three campaign updates I would like to share with you today.

  1. I've hired a former national director from Pete Buttigieg's presidential campaign as my campaign manager. This has been an open secret for a while, but I'm making it public today.

  2. I've committed to every Democratic county organization and legislative district organization in WA-02 that:

- I will make a good-faith effort to attend every monthly general meeting in person. If I can't attend in person, I'll make a good-faith effort to attend virtually. If neither is possible, a member of my staff will attend.

- Each organization will receive at least one town hall per year.

- Each organization will receive at least one volunteer event per year where I will be present in person.

- Each organization will receive at least one fundraiser per year benefiting that organization where I will be present in person.

  1. I've also committed to every Republican county and legislative district organization in WA-02 that I will participate in both a primary debate and a general election debate at a venue of their choosing, so they can ask questions directly and hear from their representative and other candidates.

I believe representatives should be accessible to the people they serve. These commitments are intended to put that principle into practice.

To the Republicans in WA02, I ask that you vote for me this year. I know this request is difficult. I know many of you disagree with me on major issues. I am not asking you to pretend otherwise.

But I do believe we share a basic desire to make the country better, restore accountability, and reject politics as usual. I also believe that, when compared with Rick Larsen, I offer voters a more ethical and accountable alternative.

In the Air Force, I learned that service to country requires sacrifice. That is what I am asking you to consider now. Not agreement. Not surrender of principle. Sacrifice.

Missed Connection: Everett Courthouse

Probably a shot in the dark, but divorce court is a lonely place.

We were both asked to wait in the hallway after being checked in, had some light conversation that came easily. Your case was called first, and you left in tears. I didn't want to stop you but maybe I should have because man, I felt it.

I'm not looking for a date or anything like that, just want to buy you a coffee and mutually vent about our situations. PM me what you nearly forgot down the hallway.

Even if you don't, then just know theres someone out there rooting for you.

Transit? Walking? Driving? Future US 2 Trestle options are up for review and we want to hear from you!

WSDOT is asking for public feedback as we evaluate potential improvements to the US 2 Trestle corridor.

As part of an ongoing Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study, we're reviewing different alternatives for both ends of the trestle, including connections to I-5 and Everett on the west side and SR 204, US 2 and Lake Stevens on the east side.

The study will help identify which alteranatives should move forward for more detailed evaluation and will also consider environmental impacts and potential mitigation measures.

Beginning Tuesday, June 16, people can visit an online open house to learn about the screening of potential alternatives. The PEL study will identify a reasonable range of alternatives to evaluate in more detail in accordance with federal laws.

When: Tuesday, June 16, until Tuesday, July 7

Where: Online

Details: Content is available in English, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese. Visitors can also leave comments.

Your feedback will help refine the proposed alternatives before a draft report is released for public review later this year.
