I have a few theories as to why the Switch 2 version is referred to as the "Definitive Edition".

Before we get started, I definitely think this port is mediocre but I wouldn't call it "awful/dogshit" that's an overreaction, it has the same amount as quality put into the port as the 2022 console ports, which also have similar flaws. It definitely got dragged down the highest due to being hyped up in 2026 with this new subtitle.

Alright, let's get started as to why I think SEGA referred to the Switch 2 version is referred to as the "Definitive Edition".

A. They put in new textures in some areas. Look at the first part of this comparison video, the ground Sonic is standing on is in the same spot, yet looks significantly different in the Switch 2 version compared to other versions. I suspect that there are plentiful of texture changes in other areas as well. (Source: https://youtu.be/9Rgo01Am\_6Q)

B. Portable 60 FPS. SEGA considers this to be the best way to play Frontiers in a hybrid, portable nature. Which is true if you don't count PC handhelds, but that's an extremely niche market with poor sales. Though maybe I'd actually give them credit if Portable 60 FPS Frontiers on Switch 2 didn't look like complete ass visually, but still, this is a theory about SEGA, not about my opinion.

C. Pop-In Fixed. This one is self explanatory, they increased the pop in heavily unlike the other versions.

Guys, we won..

Ive been waiting so long hoping they'd bring the soap shoes back since I only got Frontiers last year. And man am I happy lol. Literally sent in a support ticket like 2 months ago asking if it was possible to get em lol. We'll, now we ALL get them!! (Since alot of people seem to be asking, you can get them for free in whatever platforms store that you have, its listed as a dlc like the other free costumes)

Drew this 4 years ago and never posted it cause I was still working up the nerve to post more besides just on Discord but now im just going through a lot of old art work and I REALLY like this one.

The Titans are such PEAK designs, bosses (besides harder difficulty parry times lol) and the music is a WHOLE other conversation. I loved Sonic Frontiers and the music and story really gave me the motivation I needed to get through a tough time. Adore this game and all it's imperfections.

It would have been great if Sega updated the game with some of the improvements of the Switch 2 edition for the visuals popping things.

Dilemma with Sonic Frontiers

Ok so once upon a time the switch 1 was my only gaming console and I purchased sonic frontiers on it along time ago. Now in big 2026 I have a gaming pc, a switch 2, and a ps4(I rarely touch it). I was so annoyed there was no upgrade pack for frontiers definitive edition for the switch 2. Now I’m debating is it even worth playing the og switch version on my switch 2 at this point? I do love having physical copies of video games but at this point I just have the inferior version of the video game. When I could buy a better version on steam or switch 2. I guess I could just play the game and figure it out as I go. I wouldn’t say I’m one who complains about graphics too much but I just wanted to hear other people’s thoughts on my dilemma. Any input is useful!

Is this real?

I was in a discord server called “EMPTERROR” and it had a “leak” chat, the owner is called empterror and he said he managed to get this off from a website that listed this with employee names? I think it’s fake but it looks kinda real so idk what to believe.
