Did anyone start their Sophia the same they started their degree?

Usually I hear of people who finished their credits before they started their degree

But I wanna know if anyone here started both from zero simultaneously and still managed to transfer in 60+ credits or so in a short time

It’s a bit worrying seeing I have 100 credits left at the start of the degree, with no Sophia or study dot com courses done yet

And knowing that 55 of those 100 are transferable but I just haven’t done them yet

I mapped everything with AI and approximately it should be done by 2 months or so but still

Would love to hear your stories

Ethics & Sanctions concerns, what is truly allowed?

I just started Sophia Monday. I did the first and second portion of English Comp 1 and submitted my narrative essay that is waiting to be graded. English Comp 1, I feel, is going to take awhile with all the essay grading times. So, I paired it with a course I knew would be a real challenge for me, Algebra. From Monday evening through yesterday afternoon (little under 12 hours) I worked through the lessons. I did use ChatGPT to help explain concepts, but NEVER the answer on the actual challenges. I had it also provide me additional equations to work through to try and understand it well before submitting anything I wasn't already sure how to do. I took the practice exam and got 16/19, reviewed the answers and made a couple notes and jumped into the exam.

I was WFH and did switch tabs from the incognito mode I was using for Sophia to a regular browser for work as well as work software a few times as needed. I did also have a zoom-type software running where I am on camera and mic for work. I did not use AI at all during the exam, just my own written notes.

Failed at 69. Reviewed the answers, clocked out of work and jumped back in a second time. Failed (imo) at 79. 🤦🏼‍♀️ But I missed a single question, forgot to hit submit before submitting the full exam, and would have gotten it right.

My question is this, I used their material (to the right, but I swear the instructors videos dont fully explain the exact type of equations being given), and my own notes only.

I know now that from now on, dont use any other programs or tabs while taking exams and dont move through any too quickly so it doesn't think I am cheating.

What else can I do to prevent any accidental sanctions? When I started this I didn't realize that was happening to people. :( Also will the system know if I Print to PDF the exam results with rationale for future studying? Is that allowed or would it get me in trouble. Their Rationale is the clearest way my unmedicated ADHD brain can understand truly what they're looking for sometimes.

I finished 14 courses in 4 months and even took some time off: some encouragement

Just wanted to post a positive experience given how much hate Sophia has been getting lately. I worked on Sophia for a total of 12 weeks over the course of 4 months. I had some vacations and medical stuff so I wasn’t “speed running” exactly. I did do it nearly every spare moment though.

I’m an older student (44) and naturally intellectually curious so a lot of classes/specific lessons were things I already knew from, just like, being alive. But I also worked really hard and some of these subjects were tough. I have 48 credits from another school back in the day.

I did sometimes use ctrl F before they canned it (that was a bummer) but if you were ever good at finding Waldo as a child, the answers are right there.

Some of the touchstones were annoying, but overall I really liked the courses. The bio lab was a lot given that it was only 1 credit but I will dissect a virtual rat over a real one any day of the week.

I didn’t have any pop ups or integrity violations issues. Just don’t leave the tab when you’re in a quiz/test and you’ll be fine.

Wishing you all good luck! Sophia is so much better than posting BS discussion posts for 12 weeks for 3 measly credits.

Where to start?

Would appreciate some guidance. I have no college credits never attended and wanted to start Sophia but unsure how it works, do I need to talk to a community college first? Or can I start Sophia then transfer the credits to a community college or what? I am wanting to start the journey to get my bachelor’s and do nursing. But again I have no experience so not sure if I can atleast get the general stuff out of the way?

Has anyone successfully gotten their sanctioned Sophia account back?

If yes, what did you include in your appeal?

I’m not sure what triggered.. my internet kept cutting out, I may have uploaded my own document twice, or I may have left a tab open too long. They never clearly told me what caused the sanction.

Statistics Course Questions

Hello everyone! This morning I was recommended by my Penn State Advisor to take my last class i need to graduate at sophia learning which is a statistics class. He told me it would save me a ton of money and I could go at my own pace. I’ve done a little research into the website and it just feels like it’s too good to be true. I’m used to taking proctored math exams with honorlock at penn state but from what i’ve gathered it doesn’t look like sophia does any proctored exams for math or any courses at all. Is this true? I feel like this would just be a mess of people using ai, whats to stop you from having chatgpt open in the next tab or even just using chat gpt on your phone to speed through the math class? Thank you guys in advance for the responses. I just wanted to get a feel for everything before i actually go ahead and sign up. I personally like to use ai to break down problems on my homework as i begin new lessons but i’ve always taken my exams honestly with the proctored exams so just the idea of being able to take math exams online without being watched sounds so unreal lol.

Hello guys,

Just wondering if things have changed here.

If I earned some credits couple years back and want to transfer those credits to WGU; Do I heed to have an active membership with Sophia. Or are we still using parchment?

Saving pdfs?

I heard that saving pdfs on Sophia is no longer a supported feature. Is that true? If so that is disappointing since I wanted to be able to reference them during and after testing.

Sanctioned…

Pretty much any SofiaLearning student’s worst nightmare. There’s only 2 reasons this would’ve happened in my case:

  1. I had Udemy open and was studying Dion Training’s Sec+ 701. Udemy DOES have its own AI to help you study your specific course, but no course I was taking on SofiaLearning had anything to do with Cybersecurity, nor had I switched to Udemy or during the test.
  2. I took a test last night and I did fall asleep during it. I am a full time student, studying Sec+ on the side, and work a full time job… I know, stupid of me to fall asleep. Coffee’s just not cutting it anymore.

I did appeal and I told them the truth, but I hadn’t seen anyone on Reddit talk about this in over a month. I was just curious as to what the wait time for a decision would look like, and if anyone with experience with this knew how transferring credits will work if this appeal gets denied.

Finished 2 Sophia courses but credits haven't posted yet can I start another while I wait?

I recently completed two Sophia Learning courses, and both show that my work is finished, but I haven’t received the final credit yet.

While I’m waiting for those two courses to be officially finalized/credited, I was thinking about starting another course so I can keep making progress instead of waiting.

Has anyone done this before? Is it okay to start and complete another Sophia course while the previous courses are still waiting for final grading/credit? Also, about how long did it take for your completed courses to officially show the credits?

I’m trying to earn several transferable college credits, so I want to make sure I’m doing everything correctly.

Pop Ups During Milestones

I keep getting the popup about only using approved resources when taking milestones. This last one I got the popup twice, once asking to explain what other resources I'm using. I used no other resources besides the Sophia pages. I literally did not click off the tab once or switch programs or anything. I took 45 minutes to complete 15 questions, so it's not like I'm rushing through. I used ctrl + F, but is that not allowed?

Should I email them about this and ask what's the deal and why this keeps happening? I'm a little nervous about being sanctioned and am close to completing all of the classes I want to take at Sophia...

Missing Sophia Transfer Credits on Degree Audit

Hi everyone! I’m currently enrolled at SNHU and I’m trying to figure out an issue with my transfer credits from Sophia Learning.

My academic evaluation is still showing these courses as “Still needed”:

  • ENG-130 — English Composition I
  • MAT-240 — Statistics
  • ACC-202 — Managerial Accounting
  • FIN-320 — Principles of Finance
  • U.S. History I / Historical Perspectives

I have completed these through Sophia, but they are not showing as satisfied/applied on my SNHU degree audit. What’s confusing me is that other Sophia courses are showing on my audit as “Satisfied by,” so I know some of my Sophia credits have been evaluated. I use Credly to send over my transcripts. 7 of my other courses have been approved.

Has anyone had this happen with SNHU?

Any advice from people who have gone through this would be really appreciated!

Sooo many ambiguous questions 😡

I just failed a concept because all 3 questions were highly ambiguous. And it's not the first time I encountered these types of questions, but the first time I got unlucky and picked the wrong one of the two answers I was questioning. Is there any way that they reset your answers, or do you just have to live with this unfair grading? This is really annoying, and I noticed it in multiple questions now. How is it so hard to provide clear answers that reflect what you learned?

I have over 10 years of experience in this topic I'm doing right now, and I still got all 3 questions wrong. This is how badly they are phrased and illustrated.

Micro Bio Lab

Hey everyone. Quick question, I was looking into doing the microbio lab with Sophia learning and saw there is only six units with activities. I was just wondering, if that is all that entails in this course. I reached out to support, but they are taking a long time to respond if anybody would be able to answer my question I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

There’s 6 units but I could only add 1 pic :/

I mapped out all the courses from the website and made a degree plan, will it be accurate?

I looked at the Sophia and Study dot com websites for all the transferable courses for SNHU

Then I looked at the SNHU Computer Science degree

Compared all the Sophia and Study courses (that say transferable to SNHU)

And concluded that I can transfer about 25 courses (75 credits) into this specific degree at SNHU

(Which is a bit surprising, which is why I’m asking)

Is this usually how people map out all the transferable courses into a specific degree before getting an official evaluation or word from their advisor?

Will this hopefully be accurate once they give the evaluation?

(I’m asking because I’m still in the process of getting accepted but I just want the most accurate and reliable way to have a degree plan from now)

MY Speed running/ Q and A

Just wanted to share some info on my journey and help everyone else out. So basically I’m going to snhu through career choice and am also doing Sophia. Ive done about 31 credits in 15 days. The main thing that sucks is of course waiting on touchstones to be graded and I’m almost out of regular classes so my pace will slow. But also after I get my 90 credits will be dual enrolled in newlane university.

Help with HA1 Lab!

How do you complete the labs efficiently? I just finished the first lab and am supposed to turn in a Touchstone, but I didn’t realize I was supposed to take notes throughout the simulation for the lab report. What do you all do to move through the labs quickly while still getting a good grade? I’d appreciate any tips. Thank you!
