Config files for EDDY NG help! 😔

Config files for EDDY NG help! 😔

I'm tired 😫. Does anyone have a working backup of their Klipper + Eddy-NG config they could share?

I've been trying to get it working, but I keep running into issues. For example, if the toolhead starts out of Eddy's sensing range, Z won't home correctly unless I manually move it back into range. Every fix seems to cause another problem.

I've rolled back to the standard BTT Eddy for now. If anyone has a stable Eddy-NG setup, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Blew up Toolhead board

Hello y’all,

I blew up the toolhead board by being dumb.
Where am I able to get a replacement? I don’t want to buy an entire toolhead.

Hotend Fan question

Hi all. I've recently gotten an SV08 to replace an SV06+. Everything is stock/out of the box except I added a BTT HDMI screen. What I've noticed is that after a print completes and the hotend cools down (to 45C because that's what's in the config), the hotend fan turns off. Then, after a period of time (not sure exactly how long), the hotend fan turns back on and continues to run. In Mainsail, the hotend fan shows ~17000 RPM, and 0% (which to me indicates that Klipper isn't commanding it on). Is this normal? Or is something in the config not quite right?

EDIT to add more clarification:
Additional detail: Mainsail shows extruder target 0°C, heater off, current temp around 29°C when the fan is running. It does turn off normally after cooldown, then comes back on later by itself. So it’s not just “fan stays on while hot.”

Is anyone running a CNC Gantry kit?

Hello everyone,

I started modding my used SV08 a while ago when I tried to adjust the belt tension on the stock injection molded gantry parts. While adjusting the tension, one of the heat-set inserts pulled out of the injection molded part, so I decided to print the Nadir's 3D printed gantry upgrade. https://www.printables.com/model/1400767-sv08-gantry-v2-precision-easy-tensioning

After printing this out of PET-CF and doing the double-shear upgrade, I noticed that the motion system felt very very tight. Like the toolhead was difficult to move by hand, and I noticed that the pulleys fit very loose. There is a lot of slop in them up and down and they do not run true on the belts. Now, I am considering buying the CNC gantry kit from Funssor Lab https://funssorlab.com/products/preorder-sovol-sv08-cnc-machined-xyz-kit-designed-by-nadir?VariantsId=10459

Does anyone have this installed? Thoughts?

*I am also running an XOL toolhead, not sure if this will impact anything*

Updated to Eddy NG, and now my prints look like this! 😱 I'm pretty sure it's a settings issue, not the software itself. Any ideas what might be causing these rough layers? 🤔 Your help would be super appreciated! 🙏 #3Dprinting #EddyNG

Batman destroyed my printer

I had finally completed the setup of my new SV08 swapping in upgrades immediately flashing Mainline Klipper, swapping to a Flowtech Nozzle, BTT Eddy/eddy-NG, ran through all the calibrations and tried to print a giant Batman because I had some black Sunlu PLA+2.0 and it was going fine but the print kept messing up when it got too high, I switched to a 0.6 nozzle and left it to go for about 6 hours and came back to a blobbed out black massacre of my machine, I was eventually able to get the pla out of the way with a heat gun burning the toolhead cover and Eddy mount along the way but I got Down to the bare hotend anyway. I was going to just replace the hotend when I found that one of mounting screws on my hotend has fused into the hotend and I have stripped the screw unknowingly trying desperately to get it out, I don’t know what to do at this point

Update: I was able to finally get the screw out and the printer working again, I ended up having to saw it out with a dremel

Don't use EBB36 Gen2 if you're trying to use your stockish setup.

I've been fighting a temperature reading of 15-16 degrees when it should be 31ish. I thought the board may have been bad because when I try it on a different PA pin, that is used for fans, it works right. New board is doing the exact same thing. i need all my fan pins for my fans.

With that said, what boards do you recommend for Canbus, or I guess I can print a new toolhead that only uses two fans. I guess really I can make a splitter, but I was hoping to keep everything nice neat and clean, so I'm pretty disappointed.

Edit: Solution found. @shiftingtech took me on a field trip. Basically I started back at the beginning and turns out it works as it should as long as your thermistor wire isn't broken. What I've learned. -93 degrees is an open circuit/broken wire. Start there before changing thermistor settings. Also extremely high temperature, like 550 is a short.

No grip from extruder

Running into problems I’ve never had before. I usually print functional parts out of ABS. My son wants rainbow dragons, so I grabbed some silk PLA. It has been horrible. The extruder just doesn’t seem to grab the filament and when I can get it running I can’t finish a print without a clog. I upgraded to a microswiss 0.6 nozzle and now I don’t even get a clean extrusion, it just kinda blobs out. Any help would be appreciated!

Z-offset calibration buries nozzle into build plate causing damage.

I'm using a stock Sovol SV08 and I'll preheat my bed for 40+ mins, then I run 2 quad gantry levels and follow that up with a bed height calibration. After saving the bed mesh I do a z offset calibration and it pushes the nozzle into the bed and drags it across the build plate gouging a line into the metal build plate when it's laying the purge strip and then I have to quickly adjust the z offset to lift the nozzle or it will damage the middle of the build plate when it starts to print. I assume that the issue has something to do with how high my bed mesh is but I don't know for sure and I don't know what to do about it. Please let me know if I've left out any info and I'll try to provide it.

Hotend termistor reports -51°C at ambient temperature

Hi,

I replaced the heating element to my SV08 nozzle, reinstalled it and now the thermistor reports -51°C at ambient temperature (resistance is around 70kOhm): is it dead or it's just a configuration issue?

EDIT: looks like it's a loose connection of the thermistor to the toolboard or the connector on the toolboard is giving up... I'll try and see if i can somewhat make it so that the contact is stable.

It's getting there

I'm currently having a lot of Progress on my Custom SV08 Build so far. I'm leaving those to Pictures here for you to enjoy. If you want to know anything feel free to ask

How important is this part?

I was trying to print on the whole plate when it crashed into the part, creating a big glob of plastic and yanking out some cable.

Help with EBB36 Gen 2

I've got a problem and hopefully someone can help or point me in the right direction. I have replaced my toolhead board on my printer, an SV08 and yes I know it isn't a Voron, but you guys seem to be the experts. I've installed a BTT EBB36 Gen 2 running Canbus. I've got everything setup and printer happy by commenting out everything that was barking. finally when it was happy I proceeded to connect the wires for my toolhead to the EBB36 because I was getting a min. extruder temp... so I crimped and tested the thermistor and got 96k Ohms. Installed the thermistor in the two port TH connection, and heater cables onto the HE screw terminals and booted it up.

Now at this point I get klipper disconnected on the klipperscreen. when checking the log it says rx errors 189. it's always 189. I can talk to the eddy duo which is connected through the EBB36 and it is fine. So the U2C and cable are working.

Where do I go from here? Again, first time with Canbus and it was going great until it wasn't. I honestly don't think it is a Canbus issue, rather maybe the EBB36. It was powered down when I made the connections so I don't see how I could have shorted anything.

Thanks for any help to get my printer back up and running.

Need help troubleshooting

I'm printing with HTPLA on my SV08. I'm using Orca Slicer and variable layer height. I ran all the calibration options and I'm seeing what's in these photos. The sides should be flat and straight up. My flow rate is 0.98, temp is 230. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
